Day 3 Part 2 – Wrap Up
To recap, here’s all the videos from Comic-Con:
Day 3 Part 1 – The Simpsons, Futurama, Family Guy, and more!
Day 2 Part 2 – James hits the retail portion of the show to see what’s for sale.
Day 2 Part 1 – Machete, Peanuts, Penn and Teller
Day 1 Part 2 – James discusses The Expendables Comic-Con panel
Day 1 Part 1 – Danny Elfman, the Bruce Campbell line, Gamera
July 27, 2010 at 11:25 pm
There seems to be a “day 3” video not mentioned here where James talks about cartoons (Family Guy etc)
July 28, 2010 at 12:48 am
I can see how Bradbury could make everything else seem pretty frivolous. Good call to attend.
July 28, 2010 at 1:37 am
I think I’ve said this before but you are right. There should be different cons for the different types of entertainment. Even if you just did 2 together it would cut down on the crowds and people would get to see more.
July 28, 2010 at 1:51 am
A few times during the con they wheel him out in his chair around the show-room floor and you can get your photo taken with him. Really nice about it, too.
July 28, 2010 at 2:51 am
Well there is still one more year before the contract is up for Comic-Con behind held in San Diego as talks are that it might be held in Anaheim, CA or Las Vegas. So maybe in 2012 it will be in an even bigger venue.

“A few times during the con they wheel him out in his chair around the show-room floor and you can get your photo taken with him. Really nice about it, too.”
That’s actually really cool, that he still appreciates everyone attending, even though you’d think he’d be much more hardened by life and his state of old age….
Talking at a panel, then being wheeled beside fans for pictures, and liking it? What a fucking guy…..I have no words for that amount of class.
Great videos James! 🙂
July 28, 2010 at 3:31 am
whoa… mike responds to comments… Great video James! I cannot wait until i get a chance to go to comic con sometime which won’t happen until another 3 years or so because of college debts.
July 28, 2010 at 3:50 am
Bwahahaha.Stuck in line with Pat the NES Punk, what torture!
July 28, 2010 at 5:18 am
I think that they put movies, games etc. into comic-con otherwise people wouldn’t notice comics, I mean when you go to Comic-con, you have a bit of spare time, you go look around, and most of the time you end up in the comic section. without, movies, games etc. being at comic-con, comics wouldn’t be noticed and maybe when a person ends up in the comic section when they don’t mean to, they might find an interest in these comics. so basically having these movies, games etc. at comic-con helps popularise comics to wider audiences.
July 28, 2010 at 6:01 am
Comic-Con certainly needs to go back to what it was in the early 90s, Comic Books! Man they had them in Dallas, Texas in those days every single year and that’s all that was there. The only video games and movies talked about were ones exclusively related to comic book characters. Now it’s about anything but comic books. Comic Books are just a small portion unfortunately. I am not even sure if they still print comic books with the way this recession is and the advent of the internet.
July 28, 2010 at 7:33 am
Maybe next year we’ll see a Angry Video Game Nerd stand
July 28, 2010 at 7:50 am
“He was at the first Comic-Con 35 years ago”. Haha, that reminds me of a joke I heard at the Simpsons panel back in Comic-Con 2004.
“I was also at the first Comic-Con, but I just found parking.”
Seriously it’s WAAAY too crowded, it looks even worse than the last time I was there (2007).
I will say I enjoyed the coverage. Combined with all the other info out there, it makes me a happy person.
July 28, 2010 at 9:25 am
You know, as much as I’d love to go to ComicCon, part of me is glad I don’t bother. I hear nothing but “yeah we qued most of the day then didn’t get in”. Seems pointless.
I’d probably just take a few grand and check out the sellers booths all day!
July 28, 2010 at 9:50 am
I’ll rip your head off………………with my ass!!!
July 28, 2010 at 10:18 am
Ray Bradbury…he’s changed a lot.
July 28, 2010 at 10:42 am
He’s 90 years old……………
July 28, 2010 at 12:09 pm
Dude, I would have LOVED to have seen Ray Bradbury. He’s a terrific writer!
Comics being the least crowded section at Comic con? THAT is going on my Lovely List of Ironies…..
July 28, 2010 at 3:36 pm
While I was watching James’ videos, ComicCon seemed like something that might be fun if you could actually manage to see anything besides crowds. However, the one thing that kept occurring to me was that Spike must be compensating for something, with the size of that damn microphone. i think the thing would cover up half of James’ face of he actually held it UP to his mouth. And Spike, compensating for something? Crazy idea, isn’t it?
July 28, 2010 at 4:42 pm
Man, I would have loved to see James and Mike at CC :/ I checked the Spike booth and asked if they were around, but not luck. I was front row during the Family Guy/Cleveland Show/Futurama/Simpsons panels, and would have gladly saved a seat if I knew you were around.
July 28, 2010 at 6:53 pm
I agree Ray Bradbury is a living legend. Something Wicked This Way Comes is one of my favourite books, it can be so full of magic if you’re in the right state of mind.
Thanks for the great coverage again this year
July 28, 2010 at 7:10 pm
Try doing that for years. I’ve always been stuck at that part every since I got the game, and that was if I was lucky enough to pass that one section in the water that saps up your health if you touch the walls. I never knew how to get past that gap for years. Then I see the TMNT Review, and wow, James under-reacted compared to how I reacted when I learned that you just ‘walk over it’. I had thrown a fit, a major one because I was so pissed off. I had to re-watch the end of the video because I was too busy with my fit to notice how he reacted. And again, I say he under-reacted compared to me.
July 28, 2010 at 10:20 pm
That sucks that you didn’t get into the Rifftrax Live show! Great videos James!
July 28, 2010 at 11:22 pm
300 people (1st comic con) + Twilight and Harry Potter fans = 1,000,000,000 people (present comic con)
July 29, 2010 at 12:01 am
James I would just like to know if you will be at the New York Comic Con because the legend himself Stan Lee will be there
July 29, 2010 at 1:40 am
Damn, this makes me pretty glad that I didn’t get to go. The panels look good but SO many people… it looks like more then a 30th of the earths population is there.
Also, James when are we gonna get two AVGN again?
July 29, 2010 at 2:08 am
Thanks, fun and informative as usual. Now that your crasy summer holidays are nearly finished you can rest a little.
July 29, 2010 at 4:18 am
Was hoping for some futurama stuff but oh well, off to the internets!
July 29, 2010 at 11:46 am
was it anythin new about the “futurama”? realy liked it, but here in sweden
it did not end up so well what i heard, so far i got 4 seasons but heard it existed 5 so far. but here thex mixed up the 4th season with the 5th season. btw. will it come more of the futurama?
July 29, 2010 at 12:27 pm
Sweet James, FUCKING AWESOME!!
July 29, 2010 at 2:32 pm
Imagine this then: I hear there’s going to be a new anime convention in Texas that MIGHT be able to get Miyazaki as a guest. If that happens, that area will SO GET BOOKED up faster than AVGN can say ASS!
Wouldn’t be surprised to see Spike TV go and cover that should that happen.
July 29, 2010 at 3:29 pm
James you’re a big enough celebrity now, I would demand Spike to get you special backstage privileges to any future Comiccon or any convention at that, with the ability to surpass lengthy lines, that is unless you feel the need to experience what every Comiccon attendee goes through.
But I truly believe that you have enough fans now to give you the backing you need to get more in-depth reports. I think more people respect your less gimmicky approach and your opinions in general, because you cover things like Ray Bradbury, or Machete, things that people probably would’ve easily overlooked. So I think if you had that “behind the scenes” access, you could cover a lot more of the major exhibits like Hall H in addition to those relatively smaller aspects.
Take it easy James and I can’t wait until August for the next AVGN!
July 29, 2010 at 5:22 pm
Totally agree with Koga!
We should all start a petition!
July 29, 2010 at 6:12 pm
Nothing on the Goon teaser makes me a sad bunny. They put up some links of it online in case anyone’s curious. Based off of the comic book, “The Goon”.
I personally think it’d be right up everyone’s alley.
July 29, 2010 at 6:20 pm
You should’ve posted the video of you and Pat the NESpunk waiting in the Marvel line talking about the Harry Potter kid getting stabbed in the eye …. crazy shit. Love your vids dude as always! Mwah!
July 29, 2010 at 7:13 pm
Please don’t rip my head off with your ass O_o
July 30, 2010 at 1:56 am
OMFG Ray Bradbury! Well fuck my life, I am mega jealous. But awesome job covering Comic-Con, man. Seems like a free-for-all of advertising, but there are the gems! Fucking Bradbury! 😀
July 30, 2010 at 12:27 pm
How’s the line at the toilettes? 😀
July 30, 2010 at 5:03 pm
Cool stories, bro. Believe it or not, but so far you’re the only one that I’ve seen who covered … well, comics. I am surprised though that you didn’t talk about the new Godzilla picture or even the panel.

This video was real awesome, I have to thank James Rolfe and Pavel Lubanski from the bottom of my heart! They both inspired me to be original and start making fun and crazy videos whenever I could! Please check out my youtube channel pyr0thunderFTW, I blow up propane tanks and do many other crazy stunts more videos are on their way! Godbless, James Rolfe and Pavel Lubanski for all of their original work and for helping me if it was in very indirect ways!!!
August 1, 2010 at 7:47 pm
Hope you enjoyed Comic-Con man.
Can’t wait for AVGN 93.
August 2, 2010 at 6:57 am
Thats a helluvalota people. Lot of fat guys in specs. But what about the most interesting visitors – the cosplaying girls with pink wigs? In the Essen fair there were loads of them…
Ray Bradbury is the master. The force is strong in him.
August 2, 2010 at 2:34 pm
what a load.. these things are just so overcrowded.. even if they did tickets then there would be huge lines for that. they should just not let people make lines idk.. at the ones i go to here in AZ we always just stayed after the last panel for the next one. but now they started kicking you out.. whoever planes these things needs to lay off the weed or something.
August 3, 2010 at 2:17 am
Ahh man, that really sucks you couldn’t get into Rifftrax. It was pretty smooth how I got into it. Right before the Vertigo Comics panel started, there was a separate line for those trying to get into DC Universe. The line had about 5 dudes in it, and a chick came around to the separate line (for vertigo.. well rifftrax really because vertigo comics are so boring) and basically said “If you’re trying to get into the DC panel come to this line!” so I was like, sure whatever, because you’d get in there quicker as opposed to like the 50+ people line. So I got in to the DC panel line, and of course, didn’t get into it, but I didn’t care one bit, but I made it seem like I did, so they let the DC line in first as a kind of “sorry you didn’t get in” apology. So I got into the Vertigo panel which was sooo boring. I have no idea what they were talking about because I fell asleep for a bit. After it was over though I got front row seats smack dab right in front of Mike, Bill, and Kevin. Sorry you couldn’t get in man, they recorded the whole thing though so they might put it up on a dvd eventually. I recorded it too, just not the actual live riff.
August 3, 2010 at 11:56 am
hey man, i just wanted to say, sorry if i came off as kinda weird on the stairs after the Ray Bradburry thing. i was in a hurry and nervous. one more thing, another thing you should have addressed is the annoyance of hearing Tik Tok by kesha or whatever for four days straight thanks to just dance 2
August 4, 2010 at 7:56 pm
I wish i was at comic con.
James you rock!!!!!!!!!!:)
August 6, 2010 at 6:13 pm
Pretty cool report, I liked that logic: “You can’t read a mansion” 😀
Well I guess there’s a justification to anything ^^
August 15, 2010 at 8:55 pm
I tried looking for you James, so that I may express my appreciation and respect for what you do, I even tried asking at the Spike booth if you were going to go by there any time soon. Most of them didn’t even know who you are (lol), But one guy told me that you were just attending as a regular visitor and not as a special guest and that I may run into you in a line or panel, too bad I didn’t. Hope you’re there next year, I already bought my 4 day pass
September 4, 2010 at 8:25 am
Do you’ll make a video about MACHETE in the next days? I wanna know your opinion of Robert Rodriguez’s new movie!
Greetings from Germany
