we have to face it, the simpsons have not held up with the times. with shows like family guy, south park, and aqua teen, the simpsons are lagging behind in pop culture, and most importantly, what we see as funny these days.
FAMILY GUY IS THE BEST SHOW EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
@Zolcos: I believe he said "I'm going to tell you what sodomy means"
What the hell did Seth Mcfarlane say? "Kids here's what -- I'm gonna tell you what stock me beans"
Pffft! At least The Simpsons isn't an out of control playground to plug products and meet political goals like Family Guy is. I agree that The Simpsons lost some edge but for the most part it is still pretty witty. I don't care if the cast of Family Guy sings and dances I am not going to support the legalization of K2 weed (look it up and JWH-018 if you would like to see what they are pushing to be legalized. ) to the populace. It doesn't matter if a joke is inserted (like Stewie drinking TAB Cola with a smile, which is lame if you take into account The Simpsons created their own unique beer called Duff, even a mascot.) it's still peddling a real corporations product.
Stay the fuck out of my cartoons corporate America, it's enough I have to work for you assholes.
Ah, pardon that last part, I got caught up in the argument on this video and forgot that I'd had it clicked up so I could go right to Day 3, when I was actually watching Day 2 Part 2. That's where those last 2 comments belong.
@Ogre: Johan said that the episode with Brian and Stewie in the bank vault wasn't supposed to be that funny, not the whole show. Though sometimes in the newer episodes it may feel like they're not trying to be funny anymore, just offensive, it still helps to read the entire post before you bitch someone out.
Epic James on golden throne is Epic. =3
I hope you gave that guy at the end an autograph, James. Or that you asked him to interrupt you on purpose lol
I had to leave in the middle of the Futurama panel because I went to go get my Solid Snake action figure signed by Kojima.
Suck it!
Dante: Just thought I'd mention that first season of Family Guy did seem to have more of a "family theme" to it compared to the later seasons like you mentioned.
"None of the characters are even relate-able in Family Guy..."
I needed to fix that error, thank you.
Okay, I don't wanna continue making comments not actually related to the video, but this is how I feel:
The Simpsons was a great show during seasons 1-8. Most people never liked season one, but I actually did. It was nothing more than an animated sitcom, which worked really good in terms of family-related issues. And that's what The Simpsons is about. Family. They slowly drove away from that aspect, until it was nothing more than the focus of Homer and Bart, which is no fun. It should explore all characters evenly. I'm very interested in Marge and Lisa. The new episodes don't really show any signs of character development, but rather just acting a certain way, cause they need to for the plot. I'm glad The Simpsons has rarely ever used toilet humor to get it's laughs, but instead uses very cleverly-written popular culture references, which everyone could understand...in the '90s. This is why most kids these days do not think the show's funny, when most of the jokes just go over their heads. The Simpsons is aimed at families, but more or less at adults as they can relate to a lot of the stuff going on. That's why I consider it one of the best written shows of all time.
Now, Family Guy is a way different story. It just disregards it's own name. For a show titled Family Guy, they really don't do anything you can relate to with your own family. It's just a bunch of jokes mixed in with the plot. You can literally remove all the jokes and the plot will make just as much sense, but less funny. None of the characters are even related in Family Guy, which would get you to be more involved with the show. When you think about it, each character in The Simpsons is different. You're bound to at least relate to one of them. Family Guy's characters are all just random and under-developed. The show relies on violence, cruel jokes, and toilet humor for its laughs. And it does it in all the wrong ways. Remember the old Looney Tunes? How they were all quirky, but still interesting. Family Guy characters aren't interesting at all. You don't learn anything about them. No one is developed, which means they end up making the same exact mistakes they have made in the past. I understand a lot of people really like this show, and most of them are at a young age. I'm sure a big portion of them will eventually see how badly written Family Guy really is. Just because something's funny doesn't mean it's good.
Now, Futurama is average. It uses nice references being in the future and all. From time to time they can make a clever joke. But the characters in this show suffer from being inconsistent. I don't have much to say about Futurama, but it holds up MUCH better than Family Guy. Why FOX canceled this show for two Seth shows that ARE EXACTLY THE SAME I'll never know.
For those of you who actually read this brain-fucker, I still have yet to watch this video, so I don't know what it's about at all. It might not even be about which show is better or not. Truthfully, I have a lot more to say about my opinion on these shows including South Park, but I don't want to turn this into a cartoon discussion page.
If anyone makes a comparison of any of these shows to South Park, I'll eat my ass.
the Simpsons is always funny it isnt as heart warming as it was before but its alot better than the toilet humor of Family Guy
Did Spike tell you to lay down and be positive about everything? your reviews are great because you point out the flaws in our cherished childhood entertainment, and offer honest praise when it's due. I'm sure you're tired after 3 days, but don't let these shows off the hook.
Anytime you tell us "Yeah, it was kinda funny" we all know you mean it was garbage, so why not say so?
I gotta say,I'm getting fed up with "the Simpsons".It's really kid friendly now,the jokes are really dull and i feel like they wanna milk as much money as possible from it. "Futurama" is great tough,i always loved that show much more than the Simpsons.Thank god they revived it.
"Family Guy" is not bad.I used to hate it,because of Peter Griffin who is a horrible character and i can't bear listening to him.But other than that, the show is very funny.
"Cleveland Show" is horrible.
I don't really like Futurama anymore, I prefer the earlier stuff. As for the Simpsons, here's my summary.
Early seires: SHIT!!! 1990s and early 2000s series: Awesome Current seasons: Meehhh.
And as for Family Guy...SETH MACFARLANE IS GOD!!!!!
Johan Salberg: May I ask why? Why Family Guy isn't supposed to be funny? Why is it caring with characters a lot? They haven't do it until now. And this is your opinion, i think it was just filler.
Yeah, Family Guy has a LOT of moments on the show when the jokes are too long to the point I feel like screaming at the TV " SHUT THE FUCK UP AND GET TO THE NEXT JOKE!" I haven't watched the newer episodes of The Simpsons. Seriously, they should just end it. If it's for the money, they already have a butt load of cash. Seriously, they could bathe in that shit! Futurama is still good, though it's definitely not as good as it's earlier seasons.
Great day 3, James. I agree, Family Guy isn't always funny, The Simpsons are not what they used to be, and Futurama I feel to be the same way. I love Matt Greoning. He really helped to make mine, yours, and everyone's childhood in the Early 90s to be one amazing fun time and for me it helped to build my confidence because of Bart's in your face sarcastic attitude. Matt though has let Both his shows kind of get really mellow and the jokes because too long. Short & punchy jokes always make for the best in cartoon series, especially ones only a half hour long.
I'll never understand anyone's interest in Family Guy
Lol, awesome prize gig that matt was gonna do for non-insulting fans:-D
Saturday was an easy day with panels as everything was in one room... Ballroom 20's line was pretty long though nothing in compared to Hall H. I could of swore they mentioned before the panel "No video photography" during the panels. :)
Ogre: That episode wasent supposed to be that funny but instead a deeper look at the charachers whisch i like.
You are boring!!!!!
I think Family Guy became boring. Especially that 40 minute long Stewie and Brian cartoon where they do nothing, there is not a single joke there,
To take a wild guess, I'd say that the only reason they continue to put out The Simpsons is bcz it still brings in money. Family Guy sure does have it's ups-and-downs but I probably enjoy that show the most... well, I haven't watched The Simpsons in years, and the last time I saw Futurama was when they had that DVD "movie" out and I had to stop it after about 15 min. it was so bad. But hey, I get that people still dig it, so...
I actually like The Cleveland Show. Am I the only one? /:-|
