    Thanks for the video and I hope you keep this series, your foundation, alive for a long time. There’s just something about your entire persona that is soothing to watch.     Great video as always. I agree with SEABASS in the fact that your videos aren’t just for humor but for nostalgic value as well. There are always times where I say “Hey I remember that” and there are always times where I laugh my ass off. You are always entertaining weather it is AVGN or your movie reviews. I have high respects for you and all your knowledge, espically with your movies. I notice this is your 92nd AVGN episode. I can’t wait for the 100th episode. I expect it to be excellent, and while I wait for it, I know there will be other great videos in between. I hate people that only watch AVGN and not your other videos.

    Haha great stuff, but I feel like you only scratched the surface in terms of game glitches–there’s a lot of very famous glitches out there!! I would definitely love a sequel to this episode!

    wow, some of those were pretty epic…I think the glitch I’m most familiar with would have to be when you slip between 2 pieces of architecture and fall out of the world. I’ve encountered it in Sonic, Metroid Prime, The Conduit, and in Kraid’s stage in Smash Bros Melee. It tends to happen where a wall meets a floor, a doorway connecting 2 rooms, or just 2 floorboards…Oh yeah! There is also the Temple of time in Ocarina of Time, which is apparently a medieval TARDIS, because when you step inside it looks small and then once you pass the threshold it becomes much larger.

    Fucking Awesome video, It’s about time I don’t see a nice AVGN video with teatrics, they are the best, That glitch goblin was a real motherfucker! I just wish James had beaten him up for good in the end of the video, what an ass, messing up nice games like that..

    Worth mentioning that this is not the first time the nerd quotes modern games… I think it is ok once in a while, just hope he doesn’t make an habit of it. Retro gaming is the real essence of AVGN.

    Some of the best glitches ever seen. Rocky with bulging eyes and no jaw was probably the scariest thing I’ve even seen, even scarier than Sloth from the Goonies.

    This is, undoubtedly, the most interesting and informative video you have to date. The Twilight Zone analogy perfectly sums up my thoughts!

    Once again, you have inspired me to do something- even if it isn’t anything to do with my life at all. Now, whenever I play video games, I’m going to look for glitches.

    Nice to see Kevin again. The green on his skin looked fantastic, almost perfect. He’s got a lovely Irish accent, too!

    Speaking of glitches, I found one once, though it wasn’t really a typical one. I played Spongebob Squarepants: The Battle For Bikini Bottom on XBOX, and I had beaten the final boss, though I didn’t necessarily complete all the levels. Kinda cool, actually.

    Of all the games that you have played, which one would you say had the most glitches? Which games had the most frustrating glitches?

    That was pretty cool. I never knew any of the ones you mentioned. It’s weird seeing them for the first time now, it’s like you threw a big glitch into my memories! I was playing Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 with a friend back when it came out, and I remember at one point my friend’s character fell off his board, but didn’t get back on, instead he just kept bouncing up and down on his head. We couldn’t fix it. I tried running into him, but it just knocked me off my skateboard. We had to reset the game. It was pretty funny, actually.

    I’ve worked on NES emulators, and done NES homebrew. I have somewhat of an idea what went on in that Megaman 5 glitch.

    The mapper chip has a counter that’s supposed to tick down every scanline, then it fires an IRQ when its counted all the way down, so the game can split the screen at that particular scanline. And for some reason, that counter wasn’t ticking down. But the counter its tied to the graphics pins on the cartridge, so if the graphics are screwed up, usually the scanline counter breaks too, but having it not work and having correct graphics at the same time is really strange.
    The only time I ever saw the IRQ counter screw up like that was in Gremlins 2, where it ‘froze’ half way through the ending.

    Seeing the Megaman 5 VHS recording documenting your encounter and eventual triumph over that glitch seemed surreal. Awesome to see something from so long ago make it appropriately into an AVGN episode.

    Without traditional saves or reliable password systems, I would sometimes risk it anyways and try to shift the cartridge slightly around and pray that a glitch would go away without resetting the actual game on accident or glitching things up even more.

    I can remember one time while playing “Super Mario World”, I hit a question mark that an egg popped out of, but it didn’t hatch a Yoshi. Instead, it hatched one of the football flinging enemies. I could actually ride him around though & he still had the Yoshi tongue. I can remember the amusement expressed by myself & my sister at just how royally fucked up it was. Sadly, I listened to her & jumped off halfway through the level & never, ever got that glitch again.

    #3 The reason for huge passwords is because they need to figure out what weapons you have, amount of ammo, and where you are in the game

    Speaking of Mega Man glitches, in Mega Man 3 if you held left and B on controller 2 it would make Mega Man able to jump almost to the top of the screen and it allowed you to walk in the pits and jump out of them. Also while in a pit if you pressed right on controller 2 it would act as if you died but if you pressed left again and jumped out it would make you invincible however the mega buster no longer worked but the boss weapons still worked.

    My most hated glitches came from Mortal Kombat Trilogy on the PS1. That game would glitch if you just looked at it funny.

    The rocky stuff was awesome. zombie rocky with a hole in his jaw will haunt me.
    The annoying for to me at least is glichs seem to happen when your playing the games for a long time or the game has alot of content like the sims games on any of the conseles. Glitchs, freezing. Its horriable you just have to make sure to save alot

    Here’s a glitch I just now came across in the MMORPG, Perfect World International. It may be only on my screen however, but it’s a glitch none the less. I just created a new character on a different server for the first time, and this is what I got! Also, note the characters avatar up in the left hand corner.

    I remember when I was a kid, I had an awesome random Megaman 2 glitch. that I could not ever get to reoccur. I was in Heatman’s stage, and jumping through the gate that would take me into the bosses room, (now I jumped through it, not walked) and it paused me at my vertical level, and sent me across the screen, past heatman, and through a gate on the opposite wall. That gate took me to Dr. Wily stage 1. I forget what item I had equipped at the time, or how far I was in the game. I usually did Heatman last.

    awesome video. I have the Rocky game on PS2 and I never had a glitch on it. I have that black NES cleaner but I do not use it. I take a popsicle stick, a towel, and windex. Put the popsicle stick in the towel and windex one side. Clean the cartridge. Take the other side and to dry it. It works. Like one time recent I was playing Batman NES and my brother lightly drop his phone next to the NES. The rumble made the game glitch and I was on the last level and had to start over. Lucky I beaten it that night and I did not know what to play next.

    The only glitch I can remember triggering on purpose was the Rygar one where you walk on top of the landscape boundaries. It was always cool to try and find new areas to enter the glitch and try and explore as much as possible.

    I found this episode interesting, but too slow and ultimately weak.
    The gremlin had way too much screen time.

    Instead you should have shown more crazy stuff. Least good episode in 2010, but still entertaining.

    Like everyoneI really hate game glitches. although they tend to occur on the PC.

    The most common glitch I get is the “minimize to windows” glitch…and if you try and maximize the game again, despite it not being run in a window, it screws up the game and you have to reset the computer.

    I developed a rather violent approach to this…Whenever this happens, because the computer tower is right next to my right leg, my foot automatically swings left and then right and I kick the bastard in anger…either that or I punch or strangle the monitor.

    I wouldnt recommend this though, you could seriosuly damage your computer…and I need some Ritalin!

    i believe you forgot one of the most popular and helpful glitches in all time,… the MissingNo. in Pokemon,… y remember creating a huge colection of pokemons (with the glitch help of course) when i just do the incorrect thing (i belive catching him,.. or something like that,.. im not sure) and fucked up and erase all my game and data hahahahahhaa i was so pissed off that i never end that game…..

    the irony would be delicious if it wasn’t so annoying

    I remember the famous ‘freeze’ glitch on Mortal Kombat 1 and 2 for Sega where, even on the very hard setting, if you jump-kicked the enemy, and jumped back while he was still on the ground, he would get up and do nothing; he’d just stand there for a good few seconds (freeze), allowing you to jump-kick him again

    There were a good few glitches on the old Sonic games too.

    This was one of your best episodes James. It was nice to show the younger audience how it was to be a gamer back in the NES days of having to deal with these glitches and the some of the methods of trying to fix it. Good job on another great video.

    Also, I played MK: Shaolin Monks on PS2 for the first time, and when I got to Reptile, as soon as the fight started, the camera jumped down under the ground and was pointing up at the characters. I tried pressing all the buttons, but after about 2 seconds, it suddenly cut again, right to Reptile’s fatality. Game Over.

    There was a glitch I’d perform all the time in Super Mario Bros. 2, its been partially fixed in the all-stars version, but can still work sometime. Its still best to do it in the NES version. what you do is collect 4 cherries, drop a door potion and go through the door, while on the dark side, collect the 5th cherry to make the star appear, collect it and then wait or go through the door, back on the normal side when the star goes way, you should hear the dark side’s music on the normal side. It is possible to play through the entire level like this, so long as nothing effects the music.

    Awesome video James! As usual, you know how to bring something fresh and original to the table other than just one game review after another. I have to say that I was never a fan of the forced anger and superfluous rants for effect, so unlike some other people, I like the newer mellower nerd who is calm and explanatory where he needs to be, and angry when it is justified.

    Great video James!!! It totally brought me back to times where I have found glitches myself haha! I think my favorite glitch was from Zelda ocarina of time. This glitch is called the debug code, i’m sure someone has already listed this but I think you will enjoy this glitch if you got the time.     I played pokemon yellow and there was allegedly a glitch where you could have a pokemon have his health increase indefinitely……

    well I had Mu two, and every time i turned on the game every single stat he had would increase by 1.

    he became so overwhelmingly powerful, and i deleted him by accident. i was a dumb kid.

    Wow that’s allot of glitches. Just how long have you been collecting them? Did you ever do the N64 Mario Kart one where you drive perfectly at a corner and somehow pass between the edges of the corner?

    I wonder if the nintendo toaster doesn’t effect the circuit card since you don’t eject the game instead just pull it, highly unlikely but it could perhaps be a factor to cause more graphic glitches.

    My friends and I found these really weird glitches back when we got sick of playing Mario 64, if you play the game, then wiggle the cartrige around, and very slightly try to pull it out, Mario can have seisures, can turn into a legless, armless stub of a body lying down floating in mid air, one time we were messing around with it and went through a door, only to be stuck in pitch black limbo, the door disappeared. You could sometimes jump ridiculously high and walk through walls, and for no reason, get rocketed in one direction, in one level we ended up flying out like 100m from the stage 0_o

    I think its the warm air from your breath that for some reason will get your games to fire up…but i use the classic NES and usually i just put the game in and then start wiggling the cartridge until you can see the title screen then press reset presto! prolly not good for the 72 pin i dunno it works…and super mario 2 i dunno if its a glitch but the mask guy if you grab the key and go outside the room and then set the key down for a few moments and then pick it up again the mask fucker will stop following you for an extended period of time, long enough for you to do what you gotta do…

    I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: If at first you are unsure about whether or not an episode of the AVGN is funny, watch it a second time. First time I was like “WTF with the glitch gremlin” thing, but watch it again and you see that it’s brilliant. I will say that at the end, watching the glitches from Rocky was kind of scary. It’s that sort of breakdown of reality(in game at least) that tends to fuel nightmares and stuff.

    I also notice that there were some things that James didn’t go over. Actually it’s cool that he mentioned a glitch from the Atari game where most people would have obviously have gone for the secret world in Metroid. All in all it was pretty good. Now I can’t wait to see what fun James is going to show us next month. It’s hard waiting, but for some reason time just seems to fly by.

    There are tons of glitches out there, impossible to bring them all into one vid…

    I liked the Mario walkthrough, a gameseries that is often referred to as “perfect” 🙂 I missed the Mario 64 glitch at that point though… when you are outside the castle and got the hat with wings, you can fly into the “princess peach”-window 😀

    We used to just use codes to hack games like Shadows of the Empire. Try figuring out how you can turn down the gravity in that game. You can use it to fly through mountains.

    The Double Dragon elevator glitch kills you in the Virtual Console version. I don’t remember it killing you on the NES. Too bad there isn’t a glitch to get past the Abobos in the third level. The Mega Man 2 glitch also works in Bubble Man and Heat Man’s levels

    There’s another pretty cool glitch in Double Dragon that most people probably know. When you’ve killed all the enemies and are about to move on to a new section of a level, stand on top of a weapon that’s laying on the ground. At the exact moment that the hand appears (the one giving the O.K hand sign), pick up the weapon that you’ve been standing on. If done correctly, the weapon will change into another weapon (mostly the chain or the baseball bat), or sometimes even change into this weird pixelated club that looks pretty messed up.

    It’s me Jack again listen what an original idea for an episode.

    I want to tell you and everyone else here all the glitches I did or seen through my years of gaming.

    1. Glitch World in Grand Theft Auto: Vice City
    Basically drive an vehicle in the entrance of the Malibu Club then go inside.

    2. The Last Boss of Turok
    I noticed when ever I take that thing on it kills you which half the time it’s far away.

    3. Weird glitch in Ready 2 Rumble
    I don’t know how this glitch happen but I was fighting the same character then as I was getting knocked down he started acting weird.

    His head was spinning and it took forever for my character to fall down.

    4. Never ending beating from WCW vs. nWo: World Tour
    I once play it where I was stuck on the corner while the cpu was beating the crap out of me for hours.

    That’s right usually it’s a few hits then you fall down but here it kept going wtf.

    5. Fall through in Grand Theft Auto III
    I don’t know why but sometimes in the tunnels I fell through even one time with an tank.

    6. Go inside building with an Tank in Grand Theft Auto III
    You must have the flying all cars code with another one for the Rhino tank then put the turrent behind you.

    You must be on the second island for this to work and what happens is some building you can actually fly inside them.

    7. Game Graphic Glitch
    This happen to me a lot playing some of my games when I was an kid.

    8. Scarlett Gltich from Mortal Kombat 2
    This is an rare glitch what you do is have two controllers with one being Kitana and the other being Mileena.

    You keep putting those two together and eventually one of them with get both their moves.

    To be honest I only did it once so I don’t know if many have done it or not.

    Anyway keep up the good work and I hope you do make an sequel to this episode in the near future.

    I recently found a glitch on Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion where in one of the taverns there is a random wall in the middle of the room which you can walk into it and not be able to get out. I learned this when I was avoiding the law, turns out if you get stuck in the wall, nobody notices your existance and doesnt attack you, even though you can attack them.

    I agree the glitch gremlin was a bit too stupid, but nevertheless, great video, especially at the end with Rocky on Playstation 2!

    Besides… I thought maybe you know something about Missingno. in all the Pokemon Editions on Gameboy (i’m reffering to especially the first ones..). You could make a second movie with Missingno. the famous Glitchpokemon, it would be the best hilirous thing ever!
    I researched very much of this glitch and i’ve kinda become a fan of all the missingno. glitches.. there so many secrets about him… and the glitches are funny as hell! (The entire game goes completely nuts…)

    Ha ha ha. I remember one time I was playing Mario 3, making my way up to the Air Ship. The music completely shuts off, then, when Mario rides the anchor up to the ship, it crushes him when it reaches the top!

    I’ve never seen it happen again… I wish I could’ve recorded it.

    those rocky glitches were the gremlin’s best moments. i am afraid that, on the whole, i wasn’t too fond of the green meanie. maybe if kevin dunn had been the gremlin from the WWII-era looney tunes cartoon, THAT would have been really good, but as it was, the ninja from the ninja gaiden review was a whole lot better.

    now that i think about it, you should shoot for an avgn that provides us with spiderman, the ninja, and bugs bunny simultaneously! an extra-long episode to provide everyone’s justin, dunn, and matei fixes all at once! maybe spidey, ninja, and nerd could all kick the bunny’s ass at once! (sorry mike.) 🙂

    At first, I thought the gremlin was annoying, but by the end, I came to appreciate the performance.

    Also, I have not laughed so hard in years. Seeing the Rocky boxers sink into the ground and turn into a pile of body parts, I just started laughing so hard I had to pause the video. And whatever it was that that gremlin said afterward, I was laughing so hard I thought I might have a heart attack or something. Jesus.

    Very nice movie, I’ve had my share of glitches in video games, from invisible enemies to weird unrecognizable things. The ones I most remember was one of the Mega Man games, I forget if it was 2 or 3. If you held up on the 2nd controller, you could jump mega man down a pit to his death, but then jump straight out of it, for some reason holding down Up, caused mega man to super jump. I think it also slowed the game down, its been awhile since then so I don’t remember fully. The other glitch was the same game, if you got a certain boss power first and then went to your inventory screen and selected that power up, then pushed over to were Rush’s powers were (even if you didn’t have them yet), it still turned Mega man red and gave you a empty power bar, if you collected a power refill, you now had Rush without needing to find him. I remember finding that glitch loooooooooong time ago when the game was brand new, I submitted it to Nintendo Power, then several issues later I found someone else got the credit for it as they found it too.

    i remember when getting rid of glitches for NES and SNES was as easy as giving a BLOW JOB to the cartrage, but most modern age games for 360 and PS3 are jam packed full of obvious flaws that makes me wounder who the fuck it was that made these games available to the public in the first place!? like Call of Duty 4: MW2…. who the fuck was it at Infinity Ward that said “DUH… DIS GAME IS READY FOR DISTRABUTION DEAERRRR.” anyone who has played that game online knows exactly what im talking about.

    I ran into a couple not mentioned here, and one can be done anytime. In Super Mario Bros. 2 (Doki Doki Panic clone), collect 4 cherries and get a door to the next dimension. I can re-create this, but I’m not too sure at this writing whether or not to be in the next dimension or not to grab the star. When in the dimension, don’t stay until it’s over, and if done correctly, you’ll get the music from the dimension while in the regular world. Also, I had LoZ: Majora’s Mask glitch on me really bad. At the start of the game, no hearts, nothing in inventory, shield and sword gone. I was able to play for a few seconds before her finally croaked. When I continued……you’re not gonna believe this…..but the ocarina occupied EVERY SINGLE SPACE of inventory, including weapons and armor.

    road rash jailbreak is a glitch heaven
    i was playing on epsxe which allows to save/resume – you can explore a lot that way
    once i crashed and felt into water, but it didn’t end the game, the biker could walk on water outside of normal track, then i walked far away, returned to track, and it activated noclip mode, you could walk through everything!

    there’s also boundary “holes” in the walls, once you run into them you could ride up the invisible air ramp and look down like birds eye view!

    in two player mode you could actually go through blocked roads (i.e. city to desert) and see fuckd up zigzag road, then it goes to normal graphics, to do it – hold brake and press accel like insane (i did it by releasing fps limit and setting repeat for x in joy2key)

    in jersey devil for pc you could avoid game over by selecting “quit game” and then “no”. it placed you on your last level with 99 lives!

    there’s also rom corrupting software – you can make your own glitches.

    If you are so inclined, there is another similar glitch in the original Super Mario Bros. for the NES:

    Note: You cannot be lthe little version of Mario for this to work — you need to still be retaining the power of amushroom or flower.

    In level 4-2, after you cross the initial section of pits/holes (whatever you want to call them), you will still be at the bottom part of the screen.. If you go as far right as you can on this bottom level, there will be a point that you can jump up to another level. Jump up on to the middle level and double-back to the far left of the screen. (Because it does not allow you to go back any further than what is displayed on the screen, it should not be that far.)

    As far to the left side of the screen as you can be, jump up and hit the the blocks above you. If this has worked correctly, only half of the broken block will be seen. Continue jumping and you will be able to get stuck within the bricks.. You can continue jumping further until you reach the top and can run, skipping enemies, just as you would have done in level 1-2.

    It isn’t excessively useful, but I always found it to be a neat trick.

    I tried to do this when I obtained a copy of Super Mario All-Stars for the Super NES, but it did not work. Presumably, the glitch was fixed. So, you will need an old-school NES to try this out.

    My brother had a kick ass glitch-a-thon in Uncharted 2:
    In chapter 5 (i think) when you’re in the war-torn streets, he took refuge from shit-tons of gunfire, when one rouge bullet hit him and he fell through the ground, but he held on to the ground? and climbed back up into a tiny little room where he could shoot the guys but they couldn’t shoot him. But then he was stuck in the room, so he hit pause (to restart the chapter) unpaused, and fell through again, climbed back up and everything was back to normal

    This was a great episode on so many levels! A wonderful second character and excellent call backs to other great episodes. Plus, a bit of education on keeping games clean.

    Equal parts nostalgia and creative cussing, this episode had a wonderful mix of “WTF” facial expressions mixed with honest commentary and info.

    What a coincident: When I first saw the video, the video crashed the exact frame when the first pixel of invincible Mario hit the first pixel of Phanto in SMB2.
    First thing I did after watching this movie was popping Super Mario World in and try that trick. It gave me that glitchy ending with that jerking and the colors, but back on the map screen everything was normal (Yes I also played it through Special Zone with that map color changing)

    The Rocky part was one of the best in Video Game Nerd history!

    That gremlin was annoying and unfunny at first sight, but later it went to just annoying James and became funny. At second sight, it was funny through the whole video. But I’d rather love Shit Pickle back though.

    When first watching this video during the opening theme whike a clip from the Die Hard review was playing, I thought the video paused while loading. That sometimes happens with online video players.

    Someone needs to replace their old NES’s 72 pin connector…never push the game down. Game Genie exposes that flaw in logic.

    Especially 3:14, haha, then the reflection in the Nintoaster, your face glitching, “oohh! not the q-tip!” and so on, all the details, you can really feel you’ve put much work and love into this one.

    I liked this a lot. The Nerd series really needs new ideas, and this was a good one! Most of the glitches were new to me, the Bomb-omb glitch was amazing! I found the flying enemy-glitch myself (proud^^) but I never found a place where I could ride the flying enemies! At last I know what happens!

    Did you hear about the Tennis-glitch in the japaneese SMB? It you play Tennis on your Famicom, rip it out, ram in Super Mario Bros, it is said that the console will randomly generate SMB levels! Most completely unplayable, of course. Plus, there is a risk of overheating the Famicom.

    By the way, the Glitch Gremlin is as annoying in real life as in the games. Get out of my Dragon Quest!

    The best one I ever found was (I believe) in Battletoads and Double Dragon. It’s been a long time, but I mostly remember it. We were able to reproduce the glitch every time, so you probably can, but you can only access it while playing with another person.

    There was a stage where you are on some train or something and there are parts where you can go into the train and then come out a little ways later. If you’ve played that game, you’d know that you can pick up and carry your partner. Chances are they usually will take damage from something like that, but this is how you find it. On the last door where you come out of the train to fight the boss, if you are carrying your partner when you exit the door, one of you ( I don’t remember which, probably the guy being carried) falls through the floor. When you respawn, you’ll be able to sort of fly by jumping repeatedly, similar to what James was doing in Cheetah Men.

    The only problem with being able to fly like that is that if you stop hitting jump, you’ll fall through the floor. You won’t be able to land again until the next stage or if you fail on the boss. I don’t remember if this helped us on the boss or just made it worse, but it’s pretty friggen cool. I vividly remember discovering that and how cool it was at the time.

    another good way to clean a cartridge (and i don’t recommend to people without experience with this) is to take a eraser and very lightly rub each tab and get all that shit off it and it go like new! i do this with all my NES games…

    There is another known glitch on Zelda Twilight. At Lake Hylia you can move through the Mountain at the waterfall (there the Race to shoot bombarrows on pots ends) you can go through and then come back in some glitchy place. Then if you do it correctly (Cant remember how now) like transform to wolf, jump down in water, you will end up back in the Start of the Race, with unlimited Arrows and Bombs.

    I remember a rather funny glitch from the Harvest Moon 64 game.
    I was playing it with my friend Emily (it was her game) and the dog got stuck in the blank, black space in the house and couldn’t get out. We felt kinda bad but we couldn’t fix it xD

    Nice work as always. As a kid I found a glitch in Super Mario Brothers. One time I was Super Mario (Without Fireballs) and was in one of the castle levels. I accidentally hit Bowser and the ax to cut the bridge at the same time. So I shrank, but my body was still flashing as I got to the “Princess is in another castle” screen.

    In the next level I was small, but when I got a power-up it was the flower. I remained small but was in the orange suit. I could throw fireballs and was big for that split second when I threw them. If I remember right when I died things went back to normal.

    I tried to make that glitch happen again but never did. Anyone else ever see that?

    My favourite glitch is in KOTOR 2. After you’ve met the 3rd Jedi Master, go back (or to) Nar Shaddaa, go to the workbench at Tein Tubb’s garage (near the landing platform) and work on a few lightsabers. When you go back to your Equip Screen (where it shows the armour and weapons your currently using), you’ll usually find a copy of an existing single-bladed lightsaber that already in your inventory. That’s right, you’ll have 2nd identical lightsaber to one you already own. If it happens to be the one with your personal crystal, you are freakin’ set to kick-ass and take names, because ALL the crystals and upgrades will be duplicated along with it.

    Now, there’s a danger, though. If you return to the Ebon Hawk, or go to a level requiring the Xbox to load the next area, you will lose that lightsaber! BUT, if you immediately save the game the moment you see the “copy-saber”, then reload at that point, you’ll still have it and the Xbox won’t have time to realize it’s glitched you a free lightsaber! From that point on, that new copy-saber will be just another item in your inventory, as far as the Xbox is concerned. You can then upgrade it, swap parts, do whatever, like you would any of the originals.

    Basically, free lightsaber!

    There’s one Super Mario Bros. 3 glitch I know about that you didn’t mention. Its when your in Toad’s treasure chest room, were you can pick between one of three mystery items. Before you enter this bonus area, make sure you’ve equipped yourself with a Flower. Now once you’ve enter the room, start throwing fire balls around, and you’ll noticed that they are GREEN! O_o Yea, I call it the green fire ball glitch. 😀

    That was great, glitches are awesome ^_____^ It was nice to see some Rocky glitches after having finished watching all AVGN ep.s of 2006. I recall seeing a typo while playing LoZ: TP. LoZ: OoT and Mario 64 are absolutely full of glitches. I totally agree that this allows for exploration at a greater level and paradoxically think that it makes video games even better. I say paradoxically because glitches are technically flaws.

    My first experiance with game glitches was when I played pacman on atari 2600, I had a broken joystick that caused to change pac man into some sprite that where not even in the game !

    PS: Don’t forget that the Glitch Gremlin helped you to pass the level 6-2 in Ninja Gaiden !

    Not one your best episodes. it wasn’t bad, but I hardly laughed at all. It wasn’t very angry, the Gremlin was annoying (which he was supposed to be, but he made me feel annoyed towards the episode and not the character) and never really funny (reminded me of Bugs Bunny the “Bugs Bunny’s Crazy Castle” episode).

    And some glitches weren’t even glitches. Some were merely exploits where you take advantage of the game’s flawed mechanics with a high amount of skill.

    When I saw you blowing I thought you were doing it wrong, because that’s not how you do it, you need to blow really hard and move the cartridge horizontally from left to right and it always works also you can blow from right to left after you’re done :D. That’s my method and it has always worked for me in the past I was known for making cartridges work, oh and using cleaning products like you did beats blowing but you can also ruin the cartridge.

    Awesome episode! It must have taken some patience to get some of those rare ones to glitch for the camera.
    I should add that I was a little disappointed with the lack of mention of the original Metroid and its glitch-based “Secret Worlds” which are now legendary, along with plenty of other strange quirks that game has. But I’m sure its hard to pick from a roster of hundreds of famous game glitches to include in a fifteen minute video.
    Also, I was wondering if anyone knew whether the Player 2 tricks in Mega Man 3 would be considered bugs? They have a tendency to work almost TOO well sometimes and its hard to tell.

    For those not familiar with the MM3 P2 tricks, it’s a little quirk wherein the second player controller can affect the gameplay. There are roughly ten to twelve I think for all kinds of things. Mega Man Home Page’s MM3 guide has them listed out all nice and neat.

    I remember the first game glitch I ever found…

    It was in Spike on the Vectrex. (http://www.mobygames.com/game/spike). If you started climbing the ladder mid-jump, you would hover just below the platform. At this point, you could usually fall through the bottom of the screen and Spike could walk around the top of the screen.

    Jumping, of course, will kill you after that.

    I found a glitch the other night in War For Cybertron. I was in a Team Death Match game and there was some ammunition on a raised platform next to a wall. You had to jump on the platform to get the ammo and I had done that many times before without a problem. This time my robot got stuck in the wall and I couldn’t do anything except look around. A few of my teammates found me and stopped to stare at me for a few moments.

    Does anybody remember the SNES port of Street Fighter II? The bosses weren’t playable characters but EGM magazine printed a Game Genie “boss code”. The code made the boss graphics about as glitchy as Clubber Lang in the Rocky game.

    Well, I don’t know if you’re reading your comments, but here I got something for you Rolf;

    FORGETTING MISSINGNO IN POKEMON IS UNFORGIVABLE WHEN TALKING ABOUT GLITCHES

    It is like the most known glitch of all time. It’s quite easy.

    You need:
    In order to record it from TV:
    – a N64
    – Pokemon Stadium
    – Transfer Pack

    And of course
    – Pokemon Blue or Red (yellow has a quite different, rather more destructive missngno, which is just half the fun. Just a game crashing is not really a cool glitch)/

    Step 1;
    Play the game until you can reach the Islands with the seventh Gym, make sure to have a pokemon with Surf and a pokemon with Fly

    Step 2:
    Go to viridian city, talk to the old man showing how to catch a pokemon.

    Step 3:
    Fly to the islands, and surf along the eastern coast.

    Happy finding lv 100+ pokemon and perhaps a MissingNo. 😀
    MissingNo is actually a pokemon which you can catch with a master ball. It’s based on the hexadecimal code of your character;s name, which has been stored in that exact location.
    The eastern coast of the islands is used to store pokemon encounter information. It’s helpful to catch Chansey or Dratini there if you just went into the Safari Zone.
    There is an entire science behind pokemon glitches. It is possible to encounter Mew that way, and others like starters. A lot of MissingNo’s information can be found at Bulbapedia.

    Most known issues with MissingNo.:
    – scrambles up your hall of fame with pokemon you never had (nidorina level 132?)
    – The sixth item in your inventory gets multiplied by 9 at the first encounter, an unknown multiplied at the second encounter. (Graphical glitch prevents it from reading).
    – Could scramble up your pokemon;s avatar in battle
    – DON”T store it inside of a box, the game will crash.

    My own experiences with missingno:

    – Trading it with Pokemon Gold will change it into a genuine Remoraid or Stantler if it’s level just 100. (After levelling up, it levels to 100).
    – Make it fight with a Ditto 😀 Sometimes Ditto will change into the same MissingNo with scrambled pixels and the same attacks, but I got once Sabrina fighting as a pokemon! 😛 Though it just had the same attacks as my MissingNo. had.

    Hey I got one. I doubt anyone else has stumbled across this glitch: use game genie on Super Mario World for SNES and enable high jumping. Then start the game and watch the intro. Mario will jump too high and screw up killing a turtle I believe. Then it will say “Time Up” and will let you play the intro level. Enjoy.

    One of my favorite glitches that you can do on purpose is in Final fantasy III on SNES, Have Edgar at the head of your party, have someone turn an enemy invisible. Then have Relm sketch the invisible enemy. This will cause a glitch that will make all your sprites change. It’ll also turn Edgar into General Leo. When you try to save though the game will freeze.

    Another glitch I got totally at random was on WWF smackdown 2. I wish I had been recording this because I have never got it to repeat. I was playing as a created wrestler. i was fighting Stone Cold Steve Austin 1 on 1. When the match started suddenly Stone cold and Chyna were both in the ring with me. She helped me beat up Stone Cold. I pinned him, but the match continued. I then beat the hell outta Chyna and pinned her. Then when it went to the victory screen it was me and Chyna celebrating the win. WTF?! I really wish i could ahve shown that one to someone because it was unbelievable. But you know what JR used to say “Anything can happen in the World Wrestling Federation.”

    Oof no Pokemon reference of Missing No. Also for sake of anything, Legend of Zelda:Majora’s Mask was probably one of the most glitchy games to ever plague the N64. The fact how the game could magically erase itself, inability to open doors, and other weird tendencies made it a pain. I remember I fell off a ledge near the snow temple and the game froze I pressed buttons and it showed a glitched up cutscene from when you learn the Goron Lullaby. Game was a disaster as far as glitches and bugs go, although especially fun to exploit with game shark, ie Hold L to levitate

    haha GREAT video James! loved the gremlin! I too have come across my fair share of glitches. Besides missing number and glitch city (which you should SHOW!) there’s….
    Mace the Dark Age: When you beat Asmodeus, you can still fight! Simply press any button combination for that character as much as you want and the voice/action sound will keep going! Plus, if you do it with Grendal using the ground pound REPEATEDLY, you can see Grendal jumping up and down with the mace when he’s supposed to be grabbing it! Voila! (and since the mace replaces his weapon, you can use it!)
    Pokemon R/B/Y/G/S/C: okay so we all know about glitch city, mew and cinnabar island’s item and pokemon tricks. but someone with WAY too much time on their hands (love that line!) found out how to get celebi. It’s a lengthy process to explain here, but through some bad pokemon cloning it’s possible. You can also breed the glitch pokemon leftover! Simply use a Ditto in the daycare. There really isn’t any point to this, but the amazing thing is that it takes over 30000 steps to hatch! And what results is garbage symbols. Isn’t that great? Oh and you can’t get rid of it unless you release it on pkmn stadium 2.
    This is my first REAL comment on this site so I hope to keep this forum alive and well and share whatever comes across my television. 😀

    in the level with marge i beside mr burns’s mantion and use the horn honk jump cheat to jump into the mantion triggering a glith that you can get out of your car and walk through a glitched mantion.
    i also found a way to get to his glitched backyard by walking and jumping around.

    So I just noticed this video already has close to 1.5 million views, and it’s less than a week old. Maybe the Gametrailers page itself is GLITCHING out!

    If it keeps going up in views maybe it’ll beat the Atari Porn video for GT hosted nerd episodes. After that it can take on the TMNT/Powerglove/etc Youtube milestones. Doubt anything can beat the Jackie Chan stunt video though. In all it’s good that AVGN is arguably more popular after the once a month change happened.

    I have to say this was the best AVGN episode I have ever seen next to the plumbers don’t wear ties episode. The glitch goblin is funny as hell with all his queer facial expressions and stuff.     James. If you have read any of my other comments and there isn’t many as I don’t comment often. You know I have been a long time fan. I must say this was a really out of the blue and unexpected review. I really liked it even the special guest was alright. I have to say though that in this case particularly you must make a ” return of the glitch gremlin ” There are so many games that have glitches in them that it would be easy to do. One in particular is “Lufia 2” Though it is a RPG and would be long to play it is full of glitches. There is a really bad one in FinalFantasy 3 ( 6 in japan ) that forces you to restart the game if you have saved. That is horrable in RPGs.

    I could go on but I was just saying.

    Hm. Not sure if someone already mentioned it before me (seeing how late I saw this new video), but you didn’t mention the ghost of Misery Mire in Zelda: A Link to the Past! I’m not talking about visible ghosts like in the dark world’s Kakariko Village, nope! I’m talking about a glitch which makes you kill something really invisible, and it gives you bombs every time! It’s pretty easy to do, too.

    In the light world, use the flute to go to (I think) the 6th spot where you can get dropped to, it should be the desert. There, pick up the rock with the portal thing under it and get yourself to Misery Mire. There, just jump down on the right and use Bombos. You should see… nothing get on fire. It then gives you bombs. (You can also just slash everywhere like a maniac and eventually hit ‘it’)

    There you have it! It works, well for me it worked anyway. I did it on the Wii, so I’m pretty sure it works on the SNES too. Not sure about GBA though.

    Great video, James.
    On the subject of glitches, I might as well share a weird one I encountered during my trek thorugh Dracula’s castle in “Castlevania: Lament of Innocence.” During the tantalizing boss battle with the Succubus, Leon was on the brink of death with less than 1% of health remaining when he fatally whipped her ass one last time to send her back to hell, but not before she could deliver her own final death blow before her complete destruction. Miraculously, Leon had not died even though his depleted health bar suggested that he should have. He was however stuck in a state of limbo as the boss chamber where the battle took place refused to reopen it’s doors, forever trapping poor Leon in a dark, empty room. The only viable solution was to restart the level from the beginning and get the last laugh with a glitchless victory.

    I enjoy glitches a lot and this video is deifnitley in my top 10. The only part, in which annoyed me, was the gremlin occasionally blocking the view. In the past, I brought friends to my place with the strict intention to view a wide variety of glitches in which I discovered throughout my games. I had a lot of them in mind while I watched – hoping you would mention some.
    I would enjoy seeing more videos dedicated to glitches and maybe I’ll get lucky enough to see Super Metroid’s “Time Travel Beam” or Goldeneye 64’s paint brush or even others! I’ve argued too many times about that damn paint brush. IT IS NOT the back of the sniper rifle, it doesn’t even look similar to the slightest. When it comes to looks, the only thing the sniper rifle and the paint brush have in common is Nintendo 64’s choppy attempt at “3D” images.

    This is probably my favorite AVGN episode ever – especially since the idea came unexpectedly and the glitches you caught were awesome and hilarious.
    If you would take a small criticism, though, from an old time fan – you were funny, the glitches were funny, but I don’t think the gremlin character itself (although well played and still a lot of fun) was on-key with most of the episode.
    I’m not saying it (the gremlin) sucked, quite the opposite to be honest, but up until the Rocky gag… the character seemed slightly out of place. It’s hard to explain, but it’s the kind of thing I would want to hear if I was you so I thought I would speak up.
    Take that as you will, I still loved this episode and it has the most laugh out loud moments I’ve experienced watching your series.
    Very well done to all involved and I look forward to the next. 😀

    I was working in 3DSMax when my whole screen started to glitch up. I checked and found that it wasn’t the monitor. So I fired up BF1942 and used Fraps to record the game while the glitching occurred. As you can see it was quite severe. 3DS Max must have screwed up the memory allocation it had in video ram and somehow corrupted everythign else even after I exited the program. No worries. I restarted the computer and it was back to it’s old self. 😀

    I watched it again, and it is simply brilliant. It has everything. That crash effect in the beginning had me 100% convinced my computer was overheating and had crashed. Then the good old games nostalgia, Double Dragon to Mario, and Cheetamen – a game that looks so bad it was painfully delightful to even watch it being played. The ninja sense born of stubborn refusal to yield at the final boss in Megaman 5 was amazing, and could very well have served (if hyped a bit more) as a fulfilling ending to a lesser episode. But this one is one of pure magnificence, and where others might stop, it barely begins gathering speed. If the negative eternally looping Mario level was scary, then Glitch Heaven projected the vastness of the void onto your mind. Imagining this being the only console and game in my possession – no, even entertaining the idea gives pause. But the empty space that instantly lets your childhood subconscious reemerge and renders you defenseless in an altered state of mind is but prelude, maybe preparation. For words cannot describe the following; if I saw that Rocky game in a store right now, I would buy it in an instant. Supporting such flawed work might not be the best moral stance, but to produce something as utterly corrupted as this requires a genius of its own. So, you’ve done it – I now officially have a towering demonic boxing abomination for my desktop background.

    Great movie, like always. I enjoyed it a lot. Reminded me the past years looking for glitches. I remember this one : In Mario bros (NES) When facing Bowser, if you jump on bowser and on the axe at the same time, while mario is small, you will see mario die and rescue Toad even though. Then afther that, Mario will be all mixed up. He will start big and able to break bricks, when using a mushroom, he will become small and unable to break bricks, and with a flower, he will be small and able to throw flames… Doing the Bowser trick again will reverse the glitch. Try it, it is the funniest one!

    You know, I quite enjoyed this episode, at some parts I was laughing REALLY hard, but that glitch gremlin. UGH. Honestly, it was the core of the video, and it was a bad joke. I can see what you were trying to do, but it’s just way too gimmicky and bad.

    Next episode, try more about the actual games and less general dumbfuckery. Or at least the bad kind. Like that Glitch Gremlin.

    I have encountered the Glitch Gremlin recently, while playing Aqua Teen Hunger Force: Zombie Ninja Pro-Am. During one of the golf cart races, the Frat Aliens got caught in a neverending loop in one area of the map, making the race much more easy for me.

    I know you focus on console games, but my most memorable glitch was from a PC game that came out in the late 90’s. Monty Python’s Meaning of Life. There were little ones here and there but the big one was when you opened a door to enter the last level of the game, the game would crash. Every time. For everyone. How this got past testers, I will never know. You could fix it by opening up a file in the install folder and deleting a couple of lines or something, but it was annoying as hell.

    But the best glitch I’ve seen on NES was the intro screan for “silent service” all messed up making it look like it was saying “suck it severe” It accualy happens frequently on my old NES from 86.

    In megaman 3 I once started on snake man’s level and the game glitched. Megaman’s body was made up of little letter P’s and his head was a large blinking health pick up. His gun shot letter P’s and when I called the robot dog in, the game froze but the music changed and kept looping.

    I don´t know about this one… I’d liked more without the gremlin and more of AVGN’s elaborated cursing… It’s my personal opinion, I guess… It’s the first time since I’ve starde watching your videos, that I kinda dislike what you have to show James… Anyway, the glitches you show are really interesting and funny… that’s why I don’t think this is a bad video… but, I think it isn’t as good as the others.

    Just had to register and say once again, awesome video. Ive been paying attention since the TMNT video, but never subscribed or registered until now.

    I used to know so many glitches, but its been so long that I dont remember 90% of them.

    I do remember one that I would actually do in the arcade. It was the original Killer Instinct. You had to be on Orchids rooftop level and do the speed code. (IIRC it was hold down on both joysticks) Then you had to knock your opponent off the roof. The second you did that, you hold down on both joysticks again. (This was a separate “code” that showed the player falling faster) Basically the character would start to fall, then fall up, then fall down, rinse and repeat. There were a lot of glitches for KI, but thats one I never saw anyone else do. I even just did a youtube vid search and didnt find it.

    Man I challenge james to try challenger for the famicom. At first it is a cowbow on a modern day light rail train that is trying to save a “princess” and kills birds, which are enemies and I mean regular birds not fire breathing creatures, by throwing what I believe are Raphael’s knives. You can even kill a whale in the 2nd level that never was a bad creature yet you get points. So you play as a modern day ninja cowboy. After level 1 it all goes down hill. If you throw knives at the bad guy in the end of the train level then nothing happens to him. He would take it in the balls but still no he just goes toward you and pushes you off. Its like “Oh you think you’re finished with this game, oh no no no no no no no you can just F U C K yourself!!!”

    My favorite Super Mario Bros. glitch is getting fire balls when you’re small. For a long time I thought it was a myth. Get to the end of a castle level with fire balls or at least when you’re big. Get past Bowser but don’t kill him. You have to jump over him or go under him but don’t touch the hammer, yet. Bowser will turn around and try to get you. At the last second jump up and slightly to the right so that you land on bowser’s nose and the hammer at the same time. If you did it right, Bowser falls in the fire and you get hit. Instead of shrinking into small Mario you stay big and do a gumby slide to the “fake” princess (I guess it’s Toad). When you start the next level get the mushroom (even though you’re already big) and then get a flower. That’s it. Fire balls when you’re small!

    You forgot one for LoZ: Ocarina of Time on the N64. In Kakariko Village, if you stand on top of the tower, use Z Targeting, and side jump to Link’s left, you can get a Heart Piece early. Oh, and you can also get two Cuccos for the Cucco Lady.

    I’m surprised he didn’t mention the glitch in one of the stages in Super Mario Bros. 2 where when you get to a particular Mouser encounter there are occasionally 2 Mousers instead of one. A Nintendo Power reader mentioned it back in the day, he couldn’t beat both Mousers though. I actually witnessed the glitch myself, but like the Nintendo Power guy I couldn’t beat both Mousers. And you can’t try again because once you die, there’s only one Mouser when you return :(.

    I don’t get why people keep asking the Nerd to do PS2, PS3, and Xbox 360 games. Everyone heard the song, right?

    I fully expect a Megaman 64 review one day ( because it sucked many varies of ass) but probably not until 2020 at LEAST.
    Besides, there is nothing more infuriating than a glitchy, hard-as-fuck, irritating 8-bit demon. Even after nearly 100 videos the surface has barely been scratched. And shitty games didn’t get called out for being shitty a whole lot in the 80s and 90s (not like they should have) so there’s a ton of backtracking to do.
    BTW, in 2028, when a PS2 game review is due, I nominate Final Fantasy 12. Pretty backgrounds, a sweeping score, and an attempt at making a faux MMORPG for a console did not stop that game from being a steaming stinking pile of fucking rabid dog shit. FUCK that game.

    glithes today can be fixed by the company that made the game. i kown some glithes. in CODMW2 theres a carepackge glithch. and a skywalk glithch. in TF2 on the PC it’s rare to find glithes. but on the XB360 and PS3 you can find gilthes. like a skywalk glithch and other.

    The games with the most groundbreaking glitch worlds that I’ve ever played is Jak 2 & 3 for PlayStation 2. Oh my good lord of graceful farts, get the story completed in Jak 2, then move a little to the left, and then BANG, wtf. If you unlock the double Dark Jak thing you officially have access to an unlimited number of under ground worlds and tons of other shit.
    Just use double Dark Jak, hang on to anything low to the ground but still has your feet hanging good under it, wait for the stuff to go over and there you go. There’s also this easy trick if you do this spin trick with your hoverboard in Jak 2 and jump off in the middle of it, and then jump onto it again it’ll be pointing in a random direction. I also know this boost jump stack shit in with the hoverboard in the pumping station that makes you fly for minutes, but hard to explain. In Jak 3 it’s just to leave your cars outside the garage or get unlimited wings and fly against the moutain walls and let’s disco.

    While playing new super Mario bros with an action replay, the first part of world 1 (where the toad house appears if you finish a level and the last 2 digits of the timer are the same) became the second have of 1-4, starting in the cave of the third star coin. If I finished the level the game froze. Anyone else have this happen??

    recent games do the same thing, red dead redemption has some funny ones.
    while playing poker i had this mexican lady walk by with a melon stuck on her arm.
    in Dealiest Warriors if you pick the Ninja it will often show the Apache in the versus screen and more often then not it will be standing in his motion capture T stance.

    the first song that plays is the theme from blaster master on the NES….definite classic, and home to the famous pause menu glitch where you throw a grenade and pause the game, so the grenade keeps causing splash damage forever (or until you unpause the game). Great game and great glitch!

    this is number 6 in my favorite avgn videos
    im a glitch gremlin mahself, in sonic adventure battle 2, go to the chao garden, find a corner pointing to the sky, and as sonic you can do a homing attack over and over, then you will fly out of the garden, keep on going straight ’till you get behind the backround, and come back your chao will be swimming under the grass!!

    Well, I liked this episode aswell, but I certainly missed the famous “Metroid”-jumping glitch. Since I’ve read one of Rolfe’s favourite games is Metroid on the NES, I’m stunned he didn’t considered that glitch to be important – or if he possibly didn’t know it. I’ve tried it a few times, and it’s quite amazing as it’s often helpfull throughaout the game; for example accesing Kraid’s lair from the corridor above. Anyway, there are some gamers on Youtube manipulating the game further this way. Since at least I consider it one of the most famous NES-glitches, I just missed it in this compilation. Thanks for a great video though!

    here’s an interesting glitch in a link to the past. Go to death mountain in the darkworld. go to that gorge where, in the light world, you would use the hookshot to cross it. Go right by the wall where the broken bridge would be in the light world. Use the magic mirror then move exactly one pixel to the right, any more and it doesn’t work, then you should get warped back to the dark world. Once you back at the dark world, don’t move and use the magic mirror straight away, then when your at the light world move completely to the right then step back to the portal using the spin attack charge. Once your through the portal and back at the dark world, you can jump down the gorge and walk on it, pretty cool huh? 🙂

    You can also use this trick to skip aghanim, and the first two dungeons of the dark world 😀 groovy…

    I myself have had an interesting game glitch experience and to my knowledge am the only person to have experienced it. Somehow my force unleashed one character became invincible with unlimited force power! I’m not making it up, and if you’re wondering, no I dont know how it happened. I think it has something to do with the leveling system because the gray experience bar has continued to grow out of the little space it occupy s and has reached the other side of the screen. My character was maxed out before this happened and if you’ve played the game you may know that when you max out you keep on leveling up and whenever you level up all your force power and health is replenished. Before I noticed I was invincible, I was fighting a whole lot of enemys and useing a bunch of different combos. I think that somehow my character got stuck in a perpetual state of leveling up but I’ll never know for sure. Great review by the way 🙂

    I like the intro of this episode. At first, I thought it REALLY was glitching up. I also love the topic of this episode, because I can completely relate to having video games glitching. And of course, Kevin did a well done job as the gramlin.

    I agree with the cleaning devices. They look like big pieces of plastic. They’re just as usefull as the Speedboard.

    I think I’ve heard somewhere of the Rocke PS2 game glitching up years before this episode came up.

    Awesome! I remember when I found my first glitch. I was playing Final Fantasy VIII, and I kept summoning Shiva against the T-Rex in the Training Center in Balamb Garden. After one of Shiva’s ice attacks, the graphics glitched out and everything turned blue. It was crazy awesome.

    yeah ive had many glitches in saints row 2, my faviorite was one time when my heli was about to crash it went through the building and exploded i survived due to invulnerability but i kept falling for an eternity, in other words i was in limbo

    heres a glitch i found on lego star wars two while i was playing woth my little sister, we controlled two guys and so did the CPU now normlly thed follow you and attack enemys and the camra woundt stay on them but on guy was walking to the top right the camra stayed on him and he could go through doors
    in other words the game tought a third player was controlling him and was pushing him to the top left and its only a 2 player game weird

    Speaking of glitches, everytime I watch recent Nerd videos, the video glitches up on ScrewAttack or GameTrailers’ websites. Could you look into this, James? I know you’re a really busy guy, but basically everything from 2010 onwards glitches on the videos on those websites.

    I found a glitch on Madden NFL 11 for PlayStation 3 (and possibly XBOX 360). Go to Superstar Mode, and play any regular game. You can do this as any player. I’m not sure if there is a way to trigger it, as it usually happens at complete random for me. Anyway, if the Super Sim screen starts flashing back and forth quickly, press Start and then press Resume Game at the menu. There will be nothing there at the menu, and you will be unable to continue. If you wish to avoid this, then hold down the X and Triangle buttons while it is flashing. Eventually, it will go back to the game.

    Yesterday I found a glitch in Super Mario Galaxy 2 where in World 7 if you dye on the boat in the sand galaxy and get stuck under the boat wile spinning you stay alive until you hit something.

    My sis showed me this nifty Twilight Princess glitch that actually crashes the game- find a sign, any sign, and cut it up until you get a piece small enough to hold in one hand. Pick it up. Now drink something from a bottle-you won’t drop the sign bit, and once you finish drinking your soup or whatever the game breaks! Apparently link is too lazy to switch the sign bit to the other hand. Crazy stuff!

    The Glitch Gremlin struck a few days ago when I bought a used Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney game with no case. I didn’t clean it well enough before putting it in my DSi, and the intro froze with red and green blocks covering the cards O.o

    Grand Theft Auto San Andres has an area similar to the one he described in Mountain King. If you go to the gym in Los Santos and kill everyone inside you can use the jetpack to fly above the interior of the gym. From there you access the “hidden interior universe” which allows you to enter any building interior seen in mission cut scenes. It also allows you to access the hidden tattoo shop that lets you purchase tattoo that would otherwise be unattainable.

    Today I encountered a strange glitch in Megaman X. I had just started the game, beat the intro stage, and decided to go for storm eagle first. Well you know the enemies with the shields and maces well I charged a bullet, shot at it, and then the screen faded to black. It then told me I got the storm tornado and took back to the level selection, after giving me a password.
    I then went to chill penguin, which is what you would normally start with. I finished the part where you use the giant robot, and then dash jumped up on top of the ceiling, where the container is that you can only break with the fire weapon. I shot at it twice, and it sent me back to the intro stage, and took away the dash power up. Weird.

    BTW, I didn’t have the storm tornado after it said I did.

    Nerd, you forgot one of the most famous glitches of all. A glitch that actually became part of the game: Error Macro 5, better known as Ermac from the Mortal Kombat serie. Ermac was a glitch in the old MK1 arcade, where players would fight a red ninja with both Scorpion’s and Sub Zero’s powers (red was actually the true unmodified color of the ninja costume). Since he souldn’t be there, his healthbar red Error Macro 5 or just Ermac5 on some machines. Ed Boon actually turned this glitch into a character with a complete backstory.

    is my favorite character. Love how it sounds like he's in a hall way, the color of him, the acting. overall excellent development of the character. Will be looking forward to more occurrences with the GGGG. This is the first time I have commented on your video's, I have been watching them for a long time. All are so great, I used to do my own little videos, but not about video games, just about odd characters, so I love the fact that this is indie, before it was even called indie. Excellent work man. I would love to see a game that is using cheetamen graphics, but for the game to be awesome. Even adding onto the graphics to make the game awesome.

    Once my old Super Mario Bros 3 game where all glitched up. I started the game, and suddenly i was on an different world. Couldnt move at all but I could press A to enter a stage witch was totally different. Well after beaten that stage (witch was ironic) I was then on World 1 as normal (just glitched graphics). I dont know if I discovered an beta stage….

    I had a weird glitch in Mega Man 5. The robot masters were in the wrong place ( Gyro man on the menu was supposed in the bottom right, he was in the bottom left), and all the words were scrambled. Gyro man was Yrog man. All sprites were scrambled or had the wrong sprite in it’s place. I had no idea what was happening at the time.

    The best glitch I’ve ever seen was in Red Dead Redemption. I was in the saloon in Armadillo and I tried to jump up onto the stool the pianist usually sits at, but the moment my foot touched it I was warped outside the building and about 200 feet up in the air, and immediately fell to my death. My jaw and controller dropped instantly.

      Second best, I was playing the original Zelda and all the sprites in the dungeons were screwed up, like the bats/keese being replaced with blue Links and the dragon boss having its head up its ass very literally.

    the most epic pokemon glitch I’ve ever seen was when i was playing emerald on my SP and i go up to catch Kyogre and who do i find? A slug version of Arceus! no joke! like 5 years before that pokemon was even conceived. I ran out of ultra balls and i had to flee. i tried to find it again, but everytime i tried i just found kyogre. spoiler alert for future games? maybe. all i know is I feel blessed to have even seen that, bc i never saw it again.

    I had a glitch on Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood, I tried to assassinate a guard and instead took an ‘elevator’ ride up into the sky. It froze there and I had to reset!

    my fav glitch was when i played Assassin’s Creed 2 the part when you finally get to play as Ezio afther i was done kicking the living shit out of those guys and was done looting their corpses, (yeah i kinda managed to kill them all some way snapped their necks lol) there was this guy that got in my way so i was going to punch his in the face and throw him off the bridge, but insted Ezio did a Assassination with his hidden blade, That i havent even gotten yet! i mean how the flying shit balls do you assassinate someone with a dagger that you dont even have?

    Oh god Don’t get me started on enter the matrix for gamecube. That game is glitched beyond belief. If you use cheats to become invincible, There’s all sorts of crazy shit you can find in the CHinatown chase level. Most memorable for me is this one guy who’s glitched up so he looks like he’s staring at a lamp, and if you hit him, his model just kid of… stops. Like the animation is stuck. Then later, I found a messed up building where the texture on the side of the building zooms in faster than the actual model. It kind of made me sick.

    Once I was playing Fallout 3 and I killed one of those bear creatures(their name escapes me at the moment) while in Vats, his head was shot off and his body skyrocketed in to the sky and took a full minute to come down. Something similar to that happen to me again in Darksiders when I was in the second dungeon and I was thrown up into the air after doing a puzzle and saw the whole world and was stuck for a few seconds before falling down.

    I don’t know it it’s considered a glitch per se, but my favorite is level 4-2 of the original Super Mario Bros… When you get passed the first 2 Goombas walk a bit right until ther is nothing but bricks above you, then smas one or two of them on the very left, now walk slowly to the right until the hole that you made is half the space it was.. Walk over to the space and jump.. You will then be stuck in the wall, and if you keep jumping, you’ll end up on top of the bricks.. I call it: the Spider Man..

    id really liked the rocky glitches. especially when there is the clubber fuck. whats great is that about everyone has encountered their fair share of glitches.

    I found a glitch in Donkey Kong Country, it was in the mining cart level, i had a turbo controller. Turned all the buttons to auto and jumped out of the mine cart, and was able to fly to the very end of the level above the screen.

    I remember in Assassin’s Creed 3 I was just running up a hill, but it was too steep too climb, so I jump over a rock as a detour and the entire game disappeared. I fell to my death because the ground, sky, and everything in between (except for me) disappeared after I jump over a rock as a detour that I had taken before.

    There is also a glitch that seems to be rare, but is in in every copy of The Last of Us, where a dead body goes flying off in some random direction. Give that guy a seat-belt. Where was he going?

    Here’s another Super Mario Bros. glitch I discovered back when I was 9(1989)…. on any bowser stage be either big or fire powered, when you get to bowser jump over him and wait all the way on the other end by the axe to cut the bridge, then you wanna time it right and jump to towards the axe and touch the axe and bowser at the same time. If you do it right mario will flash as though he was hit but instead of shrinking he’ll stay big. Now on the next level you’ll get a big mushroom(even though you’re already big) then you’ll get a fire flower and blammo… Small and fire powered mario!!! Try it out nerd its fucking hilarious!!!
