AVGN: Action 52

they probably calculated how many shitty game programmers they could afford with the amount of money they could make with a 200$ game if they scored really low sales..but the shitty programmers got high with their money and didn't give a shit about the game
"Alien Beaver Tomato Fight" Another great band name! Thanks James.
my favorite part: out of my way u fucking ghost here comes ms tits jumping like shes on a moon. Die u balloon onion faced uh... thing.
lololol XDD
I saw this game selling for $299.99 on nintendoforsale.com the other day!!!!!!!!!!!
LysanderTheevilmonkey yeah its pretty rare i saw the comic that goes with it for like 50 bucks
20:57 They Came? O_O
lmfao in spread fire one of the enemies looks exactly like a nes console
i hope he does a review of pac man 2 on snes, that game was horrible
justindtrout really!? i thought it was quite good! diffrent yes and i can see where your coming from but i liked it :)
since it over heats will it hurt your system?
It will gradually. Since it draws more power from the system, it will wear it out faster. It has been a long time since I've looked inside an NES, but with any electronic system, it is built to a certain specification, and since Action 52 draws so much power from the console, it's going to cause abnormally-quick wear.
This game was obviously made for stoners, man. It was the age of crack and weed! Atari is too intense for that shit, so they had to come up with something for NES. :D
ZoltanLadanyi Wait, aren't the 60's and 70's more of the "crack and weed" era? Action 52 came out in the 90's.
TheXman300ZoltanLadanyi So the game was made BY stoners and crack guys xD
17:50 Holy hot damn! I was just discussing this with my friend!
They should have known their would be heat issues with the cartridge before they even manufactured and tested it in the first place. You already have more chips inside the cartridge than a standard NES game. That and the poor NES system trying to send more power to the cartridge than was probably allowed in the specs. The NES is going to struggle to send enough watts to the cartridge without being able to up the voltage, thus greatly increasing the heat. Any electrician knows that a 240 volt heater is safer than a 120 volt heater, because it doesn't have to struggle to send the voltage to the heater and the wires in the walls stay cooler. This applies to the NES as well. :p
djsmaximus 1.: They did not test the game. At all.
2.: The NES has a 7805 voltage regulator with heatsink. The specs say the 7805 can handle 1.5 amperes and afaik has temperature shutoff and overload/short-circuit detection.
Usually the components used in a game cartridge don't really get hot since they're just ROM, Lockout and Mapper, running at 1.77MHz. This leads me to believe they used non-conformant parts which are run outside their specifications (like maybe the ROMS or Mapper (which is custom and not used in any other nintendo game) should be run on 3.3V or so which causes them to get hot and malfunction (games that crash or glitch out)) There must be definitely something wrong with the choice of components, otherwise why did they put so huge capacitors in that cartridge?
I stumbled upon this one on Ebay today, thought I should share it with you!
action 52 on ebay is 1996 dollars
Unless the comma separates the values, like a dot usually does. I don't understand Krones. =\
The music for that Dam Busters game almost starts to sound like the AVGN theme at 9:13, check it out!
Loved the Spinal Tap reference on Illuminator! I signed up just to post that since no one else seemed to catch that
HEY JAMES!!!!!!!!!!!
I looked up fettuc and according to urban dictionary fettuc is the drugs they were smoking when they made this game!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If you think Action 52 is bad, you should try DreamGEAR 101 games, I mean those games are horrible half of them are unplayable and you don't even have a clue on how to play it, the controls are stiff and half the time the controls work on their own
Its pronounced LAZER but its spelled LASER because LASER is actually an acronym for Light Amplification by Stimulated Emission of Radiation. Oh the stuff you learn from watching Mr. Wizard.
I saw this at an antique store, with the box, comic, manual, and cartridge, and IGNORED IT. This was before I knew how rare and notorious it was.
Also What toaster did AVGN use to remodel the NES. My NES has a bunch of scratches and is getting a little dirty so i wanna spruce it up by turning it into the Nin-toaster.
He bought it from someone else. I can't remember where, but if you do a Google search you should find the website.
One of my favorite reviews! Great job James!
( I have been huge AVGN fan since 2006, and after watching 100 episodes of James as the Nerd, he’s inspired me to make my own show, reviewing shitty Wii games! So if you have the time, check out my vid on youtube where i review probably the worst Wii game of all time Party Pigs Farmyard Games! )
Hah, the 51st game was called Robbie Robot. Anyone ever read I, robot?
For those of you who have just seen the horrible movie, believe me it doesn't do the book justice.
I want to know if the nintoaster is real because i want a nes but none of my t.v.s will be able to play it so if the nintoaster is real and uses RCA cable could you email me james and let me know at Linkfan97@comcast.net thank you.
it takes 52
Any chance it starts on Ooze every time you turn it on because of the contest they had when they released it for anyone who completed Ooze?
Cool Nintoaster, James. Richard did a fine job. B)
Has anyone played or even heard of Galaxy of Games. It's similar to Action 52, but 52 times better than that piece of pixelated crap.
Nice $h!t Pickle joke. XD
7:11 & 21:14- Because poor literacy is KEWL.
Man, I always crack-up of the TV version joke.
I did my own math here. Action 52 is 5/26 space shooters, and $199 is almost how much 2 PS2s cost today.
I enjoy your reviews so very much that I can't even begin explaining how many hours of entertainment you've brought me.
Thank you very very much for this and all the upcoming videos in the future.
You gave me lots of laughs when life itself was a bit scarce with them.
Keep up the great work :)
P.S.
WoW! You get advertisement bots on your website? Impressive and mind numbingly annoying at the same time *scratches head*
Next time I will watch part two before I open my mouth...at least we know the Cheetah Icons were cubs.
I did some reading on the Action 52. I'm sure your aware that there was a Genesis Version of Action 52. According to Wikipedia the Sega Version different lineup of games, some with more work put into design and technical issues than the NES version. For a 16 bit version you think the Graphics would be better. I'm suggestion that maybe you should try it out....then you can pull a bugs bunny on the game.(By that I mean take a huge gushing shit on it.)
