why have old “pc” grafics on an 8-bit grafic console?

  2. UcpTeddy says:

It kind of looks “kinda” like the MMORPG called: Tibia, Sort of.. well the first version that is, and yes in tibia ya gotta use ur imagination when fighting monsters, they just stand face to face and “poff” poff” at eachother like “dustclouds”..

I was just watching this video again and I think I know why the password system is so screwed up. You mentioned that it was originally a PC game before it was ported to Nintendo. I bet the save and load options actually saved to disc on the PC version but they had to adapt it for a password system when they ported it. That isn’t an excuse for why they did such a bad job of it, but I’m almost positive that explains the confusing menu choices.

He should do a remake of Castlevania Simon’s Quest for his 100th episode.

  5. hackvcs says:

AVGN should do all the Hydlide games

  6. zelda_freak says:

I looked up “hydlide” on an urban dictionary and it means when two dicks merge into one, and no I’m not joking

  7. Nightingale1031 says:

LOL You think that is bad…guess what super hydlide for the Genesis/MD…that’s right http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ql_Cm3fn08s

When you thought it really couldn’t get worse…it did. It just looks and sounds horrid.

  8. Nightingale1031 says:

I wonder if you will review some more Genesis games. They had some good rpgs on there you might like, shining force 1 &2 and Phantasy Star 3&4.
Another one that I remember a little bit was Traysia but it can get a little redundant.

  9. Stylix says:

I thought this was a good simple review, the only thing I didnt like about it was the little PSA about drugs. Not to say I dont agree but it kinda felt like a message you attempted to force into your review.

  10. boardjamesfan says:

avgn thought this was bad play virtual hydlie or do dicks merged into one on sega saturn

  11. srq1603 says:

    heheheh awesome review

  12. JackredluM says:

wait what? you lose with drugs? that doesn’t make sense, if that were true then how come for every sporting event you have to be tested for drugs? most drugs improve your skills.

it is total propaganda that alcohol is less damaging then drugs, coming from the Netherlands i can honestly say that i rather hang out with people that smoke weed then people that get drunk.
drunk people misbehave a lot more then stoned people.

there are so many misconceptions about weed in America, like it makes you dumb, most of my friends actually start to think in philosophical ways about life.
or that it slows your reaction speed, i beat Ninja gaiden while smoking so that is not true.
or that it is a gateway drug, this is what i hate the most, i have smoked weed for over 13 years now and the only other drug i use is alcohol.

Weed might be illegal in America but whenever i talk to Americans on Xbox live they are either smoking weed or have smoked it, all i need to say is that i am from the Netherlands and they start talking about weed.
this isn’t like once or twice but more like 9 out of 10 people i encounter.

the fact that a lot of old Nintendo games actually have a screen that says don’t use drugs just pissed me off my entire life cause apparantly weed and games go together like wheels on a car.

Another good review, though I gotta say I was worried when you were complained about not seeing yourself attack or any of that “older RPG” shticks that stuck for a bit before the modern RPG era set in. You showed clips of DnD, so of course you know where these antics came from- seemed like filler and fishing for complaints that wasn’t only prevalent in this older RPG. Though, this is the fellow critic in me and I love that you haven’t declined a bit since the early days.

  14. Juanako25 says:

    @JackredluM

James is just referencing “American Movie” there, which is one of his favourite films.

How could the Nerd character say that seriously when he himself drowns his sorrows in alcohol? :)

  15. hey nerd remeber how you hate long passwords so much then how come u made the cinemassacre account passwords soooo long haha jkjk ino it probably isnt cuz of u just wanted to point it out awesome vid

  16. Shagvvrath says:

Did he really have what looked like a mint version of Heroquest the board game made by games workshop? Thats old school.

  17. phoenix252005 says:

Wow it looks like a crazy Roman Centurion fighting that Dragon! It looks awsome! Too bad the game sucks ass!

  18. SpeedyEric says:

I would deffinatally buy an AVGN action figure if I ever spot one in a store; mostly because I’m lazy to actually make one.

If there’s anything I hate about this game (besides the gameplay) is it’s ripping-off of Raiders March. The jack@$$es who programed this game should have gotten a lawsuit from Lucasfilm after this game came out.

“You might as well reach into a dog’s @$$hole, ’cause all you’re gonna find is $h!t.” XD

  19. cube.the says:

I have to agree with hackvcs. You should get out there and do a review of at least Super Hydlide, what with the fact that you need to make the hero eat. What kind of dumb@$$ hero doesn’t eat on his own?

    @jackredlum

“the fact that a lot of old Nintendo games actually have a screen that says don’t use drugs just pissed me off my entire life cause apparantly weed and games go together like wheels on a car.”

that’s true and very funny… I had no idea that any Nintendo game ever contained a screen like that. It’s a silly idea, it doesn’t tell a child anything about drugs except that a lot of people have started using them. The war on drugs has turned out to be an advertising campaign for them, with higher use than ever.

I wonder if we asked gamers from that era, who remember seeing the screen? Most would be pot smokers or other drug users. It’s the only effect it has on anyone.

  21. johnmorisi says:

You know, I always thought the same thing about the first zelda. The first time I played it I was like wtf? and no one else had the game (since my generation had the SNES and the N64), so I didnt end up beating it till many years later when my mom let me go on the internet. That’s why I think The Adventures of Link is a much better game. It’s self-explanatory. Harder in terms of fighting, but I liked that. The clues were much better, and I felt smart solving them. In the first Zelda i was left in awe with some clues… I would wonder around and something would happen and then I would put 2 + 2 together.

  22. Believe it or not, I beat the wretched game. The dragon in front of the castle is just such a cheap shot and its not even THE dragon!! The real one is in the basement of the castle!

  23. tumAngor says:

my guess is when u enter the dark zone without the lantern that u just die after some time passed, so u cant proceed without getting the lantern

  24. swedenboy says:

i just love that his playername is avgn xD priceless^^

  25. phoenix252005 says:

Damn I will take Zelda any day of the week compared to that piece of dog doo doo!
