james, this is one of my favorite videos of yours. i really love the informative reviews where i get to learn something new about a game/console’s history. keep it up dude! i will always watch your videos.
April 12, 2010 at 2:32 am
ummmm im confused, was there any other street fighter game before this 1? IM SERIOUS PLEASE SOMEBODY TELL ME!
April 12, 2010 at 5:40 am
What the hell happened to Kyle Justin?
April 21, 2010 at 9:04 pm
what’s really funny is that me and my brother always thought street fighter 4 ryu looked like James, and when we saw that picture we were laughing for hours, great job.
April 24, 2010 at 2:45 am
This game actually looks pretty decent in terms of gameplay. Consider Capcom’s recent “De-Make,” “Dark Void.” They were basically trying to capture the old-school market through retro gameplay and graphics. If Street Fighter 2010 were presented as a similar “brand-new retro game,” I bet it would be received pretty well.
May 1, 2010 at 10:22 am
I love this game even though its frustrating some times with stupid enemies stalking you allover the screen. Thats about the worst. Still this game includes lots of good music and gameplay. I have made a speedrun on this game and the best result for the moment is 00:29:03 so I will aim for 25 minutes
May 5, 2010 at 12:32 pm
not a bad game, hard as shit but hay, comes with the territory
May 6, 2010 at 8:00 am
Well, this ended up actually being a good game, right? I mean, besides the fact it is so fucking unecessarily hard, and ridiculous and pretenciously being part of the street fighter series.
May 6, 2010 at 8:05 am
frstefan… what did you not understand? before the SF2010 there was the SF1, for that odd console, and Final Fight was actually a sequel that turned out to continue separated of SF. Then this SF2010 came trying to be a sequel, but not being a sequel at all.
Kyle Justin… lol
May 7, 2010 at 10:18 pm
I can never play these videos on my HTC droid, do I have to get a IPhone? FU Steve jobs and your Flash hating ahrrrrrrrrrr I need a phone that can videos on this site
May 19, 2010 at 2:22 am
LOL on Fighting Street on NEC TurboGraphX 16 in their voice like shit! They said, “Wah Wah Wah Wah Wah!”
June 17, 2010 at 6:39 pm
your sarcasm… is too damn good.
July 4, 2010 at 4:49 pm
i just love when you show a little story about gaming like this video and you kick ass
July 18, 2010 at 2:29 am
I recently had an opportunity to play this game and I have to say: everything the nerd said was spot on. its incredibly frustrating and antagonistic, but sooo satisfying whenever you progress just a little. Im not sure if im comfortable with it mooching off the street fighter name, but otherwise its a lost classic of the NES era.
July 19, 2010 at 3:18 pm
how the hell did capcom make a bad game?
July 20, 2010 at 5:16 am
I don’t think it’s actually bad, it just seems to be hard as fuck and obviusly, it has nothing to do with Street Fighter.
July 20, 2010 at 7:56 pm
I love when he goes outside and all that weird shit is floating around, haha.
July 21, 2010 at 3:51 am
brandonheat and dave mustaine have some pretty good points. where the fuck is kyle, and u do have an uncanny resemblance to sf4 ryu. Megadeth owns all bands forever by the way
July 23, 2010 at 3:18 pm
Wow, that was really informative, James. I just bought a book on the history of Street Fighter, but I haven’t gotten too far into it yet. It did mention that the first arcade games of Street Fighter had to be replaced and remodeled because of the system. It was an air pressure system, so the harder the button was pushed, the more air would go in, the harder the character would attack. But apparently the consoles in the arcades had to be replaced because they’d either break, or the players would cut their hands up on them from hitting too hard.
August 2, 2010 at 1:31 am
Great review, i have one question. Since you reviewed some Street Fighter games, are you going to review some Mortal Kombat games?
(examples:mythologies:Sub-zero and special forces(both for playstation.))
August 2, 2010 at 1:38 am
Oh yeah, i forgot to mention that the review is a great way to celebrate the new decade of 2010.
August 6, 2010 at 9:39 pm
why is your couch so close to the T.V. I guess it makes sense why I think about it when I get pissed off I get closer to it too but anyway nice vid
August 8, 2010 at 1:08 pm
this has to be one of my favorite videos because you bring up the classic gamer cycle where you suck, get amazing then after like 6 lives of perfection it all goes to shit again. i laughed so hard when you brought that up because i have experienced it many many times but could never quite explain it like you did. i think any body who has played a game with the life system and not the more modern health/checkpoint system knows exactly what your talking about.
August 16, 2010 at 3:45 pm
I bet the AVG would love this! hahaha http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=160468679137&ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT
August 25, 2010 at 2:03 pm
the voices for fighting street didnt sound like wah wah wah wah… more like the person reading the script had down syndrome…
August 26, 2010 at 9:20 am
Could u do a review on Alien 3?
September 8, 2010 at 6:27 pm
street fighter 2010 liked all of the games that they had you did a great summary of the flaws and good things about it. just for lols review legendary wings. i have a small amout of NES games but no NES and would like to see how good OR bad it is. so please review it if you have it
September 21, 2010 at 10:02 pm
Great review! This is my second watch through of all the vids- they just get better. James, keep up the good work; your videos really take me back to the past. I remember renting this shitty game. I’m pretty sure Street Fighter II had been out in the arcades for a long time, that’s the only reason I was interested in trying it out. I gave it up after 5 min. Major disappointment – not a terrible game, but no resemblance to SF series. Thanks for the run down.
October 8, 2010 at 12:20 pm
Damn I remember playin that game,it was so fuckin hard! I thought it was awsome at the time too. Long Live The Nerd!
October 14, 2010 at 6:11 pm
This game cheesed me off as a kid but I always enjoyed the art style. The gameplay and story seemed like it might have drawn inspirado from Strider but lacked refinement and panache. Also, it didn’t have the political intrigue that Strider and Bionic Commando had (not that we cared about that sort of thing as kids, but looking back on it now, I wish I’d paid more attention to those details back then).
There might also have been a vague influence of SilverHawks. But then, bionics were all the rage back then. Still are, actually — especially of the post-humyn and/or trans-humyn variety.
October 14, 2010 at 6:13 pm
I just realized the closest thing this game comes to the street fighter franchise is the 2nd stage. After you beat the first stage you go into this strip club and fight the purple ape robot 1 on 1. There are even a bunch of hooded figures in the back watching.
October 20, 2010 at 8:44 pm
LOL. “I can’t shoot you. Get away from me!”
October 30, 2010 at 10:10 am
At last a Street Fighter game review (sort of); I finally understand why no one gives a flying fig for SF 1; “sigh” I played it on my PSP and I thank god for SF II, & I also rented SF 2010 from my local video store as a kid; after playing this my immediate thought was “You got to be kidding me? What a crock of a SF game this is!”. In the Nerd’s terminology….. “Are they f*cking insane? This is not Street Fighter, this is a god damned piece of (M) Bison shit!”.
October 30, 2010 at 7:01 pm
Spoony of The Spoony Experiment did a review of this game some time after the TGWTG Brawl. But, to tell everyone the truth, I like this review a hair better than Spoony’s because:
A. This is the first AVGN episode for the 2010 season, and
B. I finally get to know about the original Street Fighter game.
I like the showing of Mike’s illistrations during the intro.
2:06- Well, so far, their ARE flying cars and self-lacing shoes. Now if we can only make hoverboards or something that actually hovers by October 2015, it will all be perfect.
5:06- OF COURSE… not.
I wonder if you gonna review other games for the TurboGrafx 16 and Sega Saturn. Also, I love the way you nerd out. I would do the same thing.
Man, the final level of this game is possibly the most difficult level of any video game.
November 3, 2010 at 4:16 am
: 3 i love street fighter……… but this game ,: 3 nahhhhhhhhh : 3 had my street fighter fan tshirt on for this X3
November 19, 2010 at 9:22 pm

November 29, 2010 at 12:25 am
You’re not REALLY going to review the game 2020 on the YEAR 2020…. Are you?
January 10, 2011 at 7:56 pm

January 10, 2011 at 8:00 pm
i,d like to be on your show cause i thing your going to be a great man some day and cause i,m a big fan of you. i like you as a friend.
January 30, 2011 at 12:37 pm
I wish he’d go back to reviewing shitty games. He’s funnier that way.
February 16, 2011 at 5:28 pm
final fantasy 7 is it’s own series
March 2, 2011 at 2:48 pm

March 2, 2011 at 2:50 pm
this is a very shitty game out of all the street fighter games i played
March 14, 2011 at 2:22 am
shouldnt this video be made early in 2010
March 31, 2011 at 3:37 am
what better way to start the new year? was such a great surprise to see this when it came out.
May 16, 2011 at 7:10 am
The Nerd has some serious ADD! Then again, who wouldn’t after playing all the shit he did when growing up…..
May 19, 2011 at 10:25 am
You Know What’s Bullshit?! AVGN videos not posted on Youtube or Cinemasacre.com! Screwattack is barely tolerable. Gametrailers is virtually unwatchable. Shit is constantly loading on the screen. Everything EXCEPT the video you want to watch. Cheers James and Mike! I’ve been lurking, and enjoying the content for a long time.
August 10, 2011 at 6:29 pm
I was lucky enough t play the original Street Fighter in an actual arcade. It was in a run down nickel arcade in Las Vegas. Wasnt a bad game but it was just as clunky in the controls as “Fighting Street” you couldnt do any of the special moves when you wanted to. I never did a dragon punch in the couple hours I spent playing it but did a few fireballs albeit at random intervals. XD.
August 14, 2011 at 12:19 pm
this is one of my favorite videos. ive already watched this in its entirety at least 10 times. it takes me back to my childhood when i would spend all that time in the entrance of walmart playing street fighter II.
August 15, 2011 at 12:09 am
There is a way to attack diagonally up. You have to press down and attack, I believe. Its something stupid like that.
August 15, 2011 at 11:34 am
I’m still waiting for Street Fighter: The Good Edition but I doubt they’ll ever make it, I think they just want to forget they ever made it much like SF:2010. Still out of all the games you’ve reviewed SF:2010 is one of the few I would seek out. I feel sorry for anyone who had LJN games which even as a child I sensed they were awful and stayed away from them.
August 17, 2011 at 10:32 pm
Maybe next time hold the stick right? Jeez. You don’t put your thumb on the top of the stick and play like it’s a d-pad.
September 12, 2011 at 10:18 am
Damn that game was relentless! I remember playing that game and never getting past the 3rd or 4th stage.I just threw the controller and said fuck this shit
September 13, 2011 at 7:50 am
I heard that you can now actually buy shoes like that x) but there are only a few made.
December 22, 2011 at 9:51 pm
@Z0mbitch I agree with phoenix 252005 5 wonder where you can get those shoes and it’s kind of rare to find Reebok pump shoes and yes i know we weren’t talking about Reebok pump shoes i’m asking where are they Z0mbitch
September 13, 2011 at 12:34 pm
@Z0mbitch Really? Thats pretty cool
September 13, 2011 at 11:29 pm
gd i love this ep
October 28, 2011 at 3:10 pm
November 11, 2011 at 8:13 pm
I had this game growing up and I could never get past the first fourth stage.
Although I was a kid and time limits really freaked me out. (I guess I didnt like the feeling of being rushed) so I didnt give it enough attention. From what I remember, the gameplay was pretty solid, and I would agree that it might be an underrated classic, but its not what we were expecting when we bought it. We wanted a fighting game damn it!
December 16, 2011 at 7:07 pm
What the hell is going on here? O ya, it’s the year 2010! hahaha. I couldn’t have said that better myself and with the Street fighter background… I love how James sticks through these games and die hards them till the end. A talent and skill I have only seen in few people. I could watch him review any game, especially the shitty ones that suck ass.
December 16, 2011 at 8:37 pm
Hey James do us all of us the fans a favor if you want something futuristic and horrifying do a dead space review for all of us besides it’s fun and hard like you said in the star wars game review wanna find it’s on xbox 360 and ps3 do it for all of us baby.
December 21, 2011 at 6:50 pm
@Tekkenfan damnit he doesn’t do modern game reviews. Unless it’s some kind of special then he won’t do it, I don’t think a single fan wants a dead space review, calling him baby? What the fuck are you Arnold swarchnegger? I don’t think he wants to do it, he does reviews for old games, not games today
December 22, 2011 at 9:26 pm
@Mssnor Yo chill man what do you expect him to do assassins creed man looks your pissed boy
December 23, 2011 at 7:27 pm
@Tekkenfan oh saying I’m Ralph fucking nader is just a bad insult, I’m not even working in any game company I know of, also are you expecting a dead space review prick? No, I looked pissed? For fuck sakes I’m explaining why he probably does not want to do a dead space review. All you just said, had nothing to do what I said, so Umad prick? Atleast I play some good games nowadays, like super Mario and maul mallard on my noes, bioshock on my pc, star fox, legend of Zelda, and Mario 64, i got a lot of consoles and games, also super castlevania 4 and castlevania symphony of the night
December 23, 2011 at 7:28 pm
@Tekkenfan Goddamn auto correct
December 24, 2011 at 1:40 pm
@Mssnor well if your good on movies did you hear Castlevania the movie is on the way and like James says it’s stupid of movies of games and games of movies but to be fair most movies on games today are better than back then.
December 24, 2011 at 1:46 pm
@Mssnor oh and mssnor if you taken by aliens like in Apollo 18 and there gonna diesect you i’m gonna laugh up blood til i die oh and when you said he doesn’t do modern games well you forgot this he does games that are hard and dead space is hard to some people can you get that threw your thick thing you call a skull.
December 22, 2011 at 9:29 pm
@Mssnor By the way what’s your problem Mssnor you sound like you just got muged or something besides i’m not taking your garbage your just talking trash boy.
December 22, 2011 at 9:32 pm
@Mssnor and who you callin arnold schwarzenegger since you suck i’m gonna call ralph nader the writer you mande horrible books so deal with it ralph nader
December 22, 2011 at 9:47 pm
@Mssnor talk trash to me again Ralph Nader and i’ll beat you black and red go ahead correct me saying black and blue.
December 22, 2011 at 10:09 pm
@Mssnor oh by the Ralph Nader you look like you work for LJN so we all hate you cause we all hate LJN and it looks like you kind of worked there so you suck like your games Ralph Nader but this you suck at this to boy you worked for LJN and capcom i’d rather go work at EA Valve Namco THQ Id soft ware or Radical entertainment or rocksteady and rockstar. this is tekkenfan saying you suck harder and harder every day Ralph Nader which is you Mssnor.
January 12, 2012 at 4:38 am
@Tekkenfan@Mssnor calm down guys, nobody wants a modern review, but you dont got to freak out about it, and tekken dont fuel the fire. jeese.
January 16, 2012 at 12:22 pm
@bugsysboy21@Mssnor fuck off bugsy boy this is personal man your another piece of shit as Mssnor
January 18, 2012 at 6:46 pm
@Tekkenfan just one little thing I just said to you, you overact so fucking much, shut the fuck up this isn’t personal it’s not like your going to fucking come and burn my house down. You overreact to small shit like this, so your the piece
December 17, 2011 at 4:22 pm
by the way dead space takes place in the year 2508 3 years later dead space 2 2511 living on Saturn’s moon future tech and gruesome zombies with lungs as a weapon man gotta do a review maybe need the calm nerd or angry nerd who knows who agrees
December 22, 2011 at 10:06 pm
Hey James when you were doing that thing about like go boom that reminds me it’s like inframan the video game
January 10, 2012 at 2:03 am
Wow,, I thought games were supposed to be fun? This looks like agony. I don’t know how James does it. I really don’t.
February 21, 2012 at 8:16 pm
@MECHAGARY This is James’ idea of fun. He enjoys this. He’s an entertainer.
February 22, 2012 at 7:52 pm
@dcondon58 @MECHAGARY James has to almost be a borderline masochist to play some of this shit…and the nes??? she’s a cruel cruel mistress
February 22, 2012 at 8:47 pm
@kwivver @MECHAGARY True. But he is a man stuck in the past. I LIKE IT!
January 21, 2012 at 8:44 pm
hate that game so much
January 22, 2012 at 1:20 am
i like this game before you judge it get used to the controls and if you hate it because he says so he said if some flaws were gone it would be a classic
January 25, 2012 at 12:48 pm
2010 is very accurate, the game looks like an episode of Jersey Shore.

February 24, 2012 at 6:14 pm
@Piet Not that anything I say is important or matters in the slightest, but ectoplasm is spelled with a ‘c’.
March 29, 2012 at 8:04 am
not that I would care in the slightest what you say, but where I came from it is spelled with a “k”…:P

Hahaha posted on January 6th. He was waiting for this one.
March 6, 2012 at 11:11 am
The original Street Fighter on the TG-16 CD? Yep, I own it and it really does suck elephant ass. Wish James would revisit the TG-16 as a whole episode. Was one of the first consoles I actually owned. It wasn’t a bad system but it did have some lame games.
June 3, 2012 at 7:06 am
that game ending looks really rewarding, though.
July 13, 2012 at 5:37 am
Have I got a game for you,
It’s called “the town with no name” for the CDTV.
This “game”(?) is hands down the worst thing ever made, it’s so bad no words can describe the horror of it, you’d have to see it to believe it
September 16, 2012 at 1:16 pm
Actually there is A DOUBLE DRAGON fighting game (the street fighter kind), called ‘double dragon’ based upon the movie Double Dragon.
Although the movie sucked the game based on the movie is pretty good.
October 14, 2012 at 1:58 pm
I bought this game thinking it was a street fighter game quite a few years ago…When I saw this I was like “WTF” but it wsa fun, never got as far as james, but I did play it alot
January 8, 2013 at 7:30 am
Beat the game in 3 hours with no cheats or savestates. It’s not that hard, really. There’s difficulty ramps on certain bosses which are frustrating and will take you around 10 tries, but others you can basically do in 1 shot. The last fight I did in around 15 tries; 14 of which were on the first boss. Once you beat that and get the advanced powerup, the second boss dies in seconds and maybe gets a hit on you, the third boss shouldn’t get a single hit on you as you can just grapple onto the wall and shoot him. The fire will never hit you. The first incarnation of Troy is ridiculously easy and will only get a single hit on you with his laser attack. The second incarnation you can just hang on the wall and shoot him. If you don’t have the powerups, then you didn’t do the level right.
The absolute most annoying aspect of this game is the shitty firing controls. Not being able to shoot up while jumping makes the game a hundred times harder. Not being able to duck also makes the game really frustrating. That said, as long as you persevere and don’t quit on a difficulty ramp, you’ll make it through it.
January 11, 2013 at 11:20 am
The sega saturn came out with some good games…but hell if we ever saw them in the US. Damn Japan got all the good games. Slayers Royal for instance?
January 13, 2013 at 10:59 am
I agree with first poster, Kent. This is one of my favorite videos by James. I love the ones where he talks about the history of a game/gives little tidbits of info, and also, I like the ones where he seriously tries to make it through the game and beat it.
February 14, 2013 at 5:21 am
This is my fav. AVGN episode. Excellent job, James!
May 25, 2013 at 8:19 pm
This is one of your videos that makes me want to play the game because you make it seem like it is really fun. Frustrating, but fun.
June 20, 2013 at 5:19 pm
I agree, its not really Street Fighter at all.
July 6, 2013 at 3:56 am
That was a good one. as for the game itself, it seems ok but I’m too old to put up with it. lol
December 14, 2013 at 2:12 am
pillows! Sheets! Must have take a shit load of time to pass this game!! LOL
January 4, 2014 at 1:01 pm
I remember this game! Wasn’t bad but I never beat it. I think my mom took it away because I was whipping the TV with the NES controller. Might have been the final stage.
January 29, 2015 at 12:46 am
Amazing that this is half a decade ago now…
Well, 2015 now and no flying cars, unfortunately…at least we still have the internet.
