LikeHoly crap this movie scared me as a kid and I hadn't even seen it when I Was little! Imagine going into the video store with your parents and seeing that horrifying cover. They wouldn't let us watch it til years later, and the cover alone inspire so many horrific situations! I couldn't bleieve they actually sold this doll too. It looks so scary!
I have to admit, a string of expletives being the first thing he says to the boy's mother is abit terrifying since it came the fuck out of nowhere! I haven't been able to look at dolls the same way since.

LikeI love the new Monster Madness intro James did for these later episodes.
I am afraid of dolls too. If one came to life and tried to kill me I might scuff my shoe when I kicked the life back out of it.

LikeI'm still surprised that grown adults get overpowered by a plastic doll in this film and all its sequels. Chucky must be one buff SOB.

LikeNow don't get me wrong, I like this movie, but, even as a kid, I was always womdering how people couldn't kick a 2ft doll's ass.
Chucky does crack me up, and I consider "Child's Play" a guilty pleasure for me.
I don't know if anyone ever saw the short "The Dummy" (1981) it used to run on HBO in the early 80's and as a bumper between films on USA Network in the late 80's and early 90's.
That was the freakiest, scariest, doll killer I've ever seen.
I also think "Child's Play" took a lot of ideas from "Dolls" (1987)

LikeI hate this movie. Hate it, hate it, hate it. I never liked it. Though oddly, I loved "Seed of Chucky." Seed of Chucky was hilarious but I honestly didn't like any of the other Child's Play/Chucky movies.

LikeOne thing i always find confusing when CHUCKY is saying the words to change into another body hes always saying something different in each movie and not only that theres a remake in the works (I think) and to tell the truth i've only seen CHILDS PLAY 1 I have seen bride of chucky though but i didn't like it (to much comedy) also everybody at my school thinks there should be a CHUCKY vs LEPRECHAUN movie but u never know if they might do it.

LikeI always thought the guy that possessed the Chucky doll was a serial killer, not a robber. Good review.

LikeOut of all the killers in these classic slasher films, Chucky is by far my favirote. He has such an awesome personality, and he looks so innocent when he's acting like a doll. I think the modern day Chucky movies are 80% comedy and 20% comedy, but the original Child's Play scared the crap out of me. I think Chucky's new deformed look is A LOT less scary. Like most other sequels, the original is hands down the best.

LikeLove all the Child's Play films, even if Seed of Chucky was super fuckin cheesy.Found this on wikipedia and it sounded kinda interesting:In an August 2008 interview, Don Mancini and David Kirschner spoke of a planned reboot of the franchise to be written and directed by Mancini. They described their choice of a remake over a sequel as a response to the will of the fans, who "want to see a scary Chucky movie again," and "want to go back to the straightforward horror rather than the horror comedy." They indicated that Brad Dourif would return as Chucky and that they hoped for a 2010 release. In a subsequent interview, Mancini described the remake as a darker and scarier retelling of the original movie, but one that, while having new twists and turns, will not stray too far from the original concept. At a 2009 horror convention, Brad Dourif confirmed his role in the remake but gave no indication of when production would start.

LikeI've never actually seen this movie, back in my teens i was really into slasher movies but i never wanted to see this one because at that age there were way to many dolls in my house so i let that one pass by, and never went back and saw it because my interest in slasher movies died

LikeYeah, Child's Play is something to remember!
Not only did it debut Brad Dourif as Chucky, but it also reunited director Tom Holland and star Chris Sarandon from 1985's Fright Night!

LikeJesus Christ. I was 6 years old when this movie came out and it scared the everliving shit out of me. I remember the little TV spots for the sequel, Child's Play 2, and those scared the everliving shit out of me. I watched it once and it is forever burned into my mind because it was so terrifying. It would start with a little jack-in-the-box dinking around and whenever I saw it come on TV (especially during american gladiators for some reason) I would run into another room, close my eyes and plug my ears and count to 100 to make sure it was over. That was the only set of movies as a child that truly frightened me.
