I have a huge DVD collection that I like to keep updating every year. I even started mixing some Blu-Ray because of my interests.

I have all the James Bond films in their collector’s sets. I actually rearranged them to the right order but still kept them in the boxes for my own convience. Still if you think about it, each of the five films represent a different era in the Bond franchise.

Films 1-5: The Golden Era (Classic James Bond)
Films 6-10: The Blue Era (Changing Times)
Films 11-15: The Red Era (1980s Cold War Era)
Films 16-20: The Silver Era (Last of the Pre-Craig Modern Bonds)

    Hope that helps James!

I thought DVDs have a lot of space, but a box set can only manage to get one movie on a disk. Of course one might feel like an asshole spending a lot on only one disk instead of 8 or 9. But I could do without all the bullshit packaging.

is there a petition to get rid of region codes? I mean what is the purpose of it? Wouldn’t that give them more business if they could sell more copies of their dvd’s worldwide.

  6. amberdarko86 says:

I couldn’t agree more with this one

  7. murphy2112 says:

The reason the Bond DVDs are like that is so you have to buy the shitty ones to get the good ones, otherwise there’d be a shitload of Diamonds Are Forever and Moonraker DVDs just lying around gathering dust.

  8. supermangaz says:

You nailed this one on the head! you’ve definately covered all the frustrating elements that dvds have. I could not agree with you anymore, also what bothers me is when i watch a dvd on my laptop and i pause it then come back and unpause it, it stutters a bit before it plays properly.

This is a great addition to the series, hopefully them bastards dvd manufacturers gets this message loud and clear.

  9. I just recently bought me a deluxe edition of The Big Lebowski with special features about how the movie came to be. I was watching it and it actually started skipping during the making of parts. I pulled the disc out to look it over. No scratches. I cleaned it off on my shirt just make sure it was clean. I put it in, no messing up till close towards the end. What the fuck?! I hate DVDs anymore. I say bring back VHS tapes.

Idk, some boxed sets come packaged nicely. The recent Transformers Matrix of Leadershiip boxed set from Shout! was pretty bad ass actually. Far superior to the Rhino sets that were released which I ended up getting rid of once I got the Shout! set. Which leads me to my next comment, I agree with all these re-releases to keep sucking our bank accounts dry! The Transfomers 80s cartoons was worth it only because Rhino screwed with the original broadcast episodes by using stock sound effects and alternate or incomplete/missing animation that was originally corrected/completed for broadcast versions which resulted in the episodes on the Rhino dvds to be less finished than the broadcast versions that were aired.

that’s why i use the xbox 360 for dvds i simply press a then go to the main menu or title menu button and press a voila. ain’t video games grand?

  13. MOOman says:

I wish you would complain about the region coding a bit more, because thanks to that bullshit I can’t watch any of the Godzilla movies I wanna watch because they can only play in America.

  14. Every time I go to the US I get confused with the fullscreen/widescreen. We don’t have this in France!!

  15. MYCRAZYPRODUCTIONS says:

  17. Zombiekiller says:

The region thing is really a big problem for us in Europe because there is some movies you just can’t get in Europe and therefore you have to get it in NTSC versions and hope your DVD Player is regionfree.

  21. TJ_Mullet says:

If you watch a DVD on a PS3, you can quit playback, and the next time you put the disc in it’ll resume from that point. I figured that out while I was working my way through the first season of Mad Men.

  22. Superghost6 says:

    LUKE I AM YOUR FA-A-A-A-AAAATHER!!

  23. mesaone says:

The reason they dont put the runtime in hrs-mins is because some of the metric system. One metric hour is 47.244 minutes, while one Western Hour is 60 minutes.

Oh, wait, there is no such thing as a metric hour. Why the fuck do they list in minutes?

  24. gothichyppie says:

My take on the Bond boxset is that if for example someone is a fan of Roger Moore only, they have to buy it all because his movies are displayed on all four volumes, it’s marketing. Yes, they eventually re-released each movie individually but I’m sure that it gets pricy to gather them all so many people go ‘fuck it, I’ll just buy the whole set!’ My good old Pioneer player has been with me for 8 years now but I’m not sure if I can crack the region code so I’m planning on buying a region-free player. Love the Star Wars bit, I always miss the ending I laugh so hard! I love the irony, dvd’s are bullshit yet there are SO many on these shelves!

  25. Hicunabo says:

thats the reason why i download my movies
