LjN must be one of those companies that hire disadvantaged people, and in this case they hired all the special mentally ill game developers.
April 11, 2010 at 1:53 am
Regarding above comment – NOT TRUE! We were simply mean, sadistically cruel human beings. And lazy. But not retarded. Well, maybe those guys they hired from West Virginia in ’88…
April 16, 2010 at 2:56 am
LJN didn’t know JACKSHIT about how to program games! Fuck LJN!
April 17, 2010 at 6:13 am
LOL! Bloodlockscc I could really read the intensity in what you wrote XD
June 9, 2010 at 5:04 pm
There is still another Terminator game to try and that is RoboCop VS Terminator on sega.
June 21, 2010 at 12:13 am
oh, man. this game is so hard. i remember, i’ve spent so much time on it, when i was young. but i couldn’t pass even the truck stage.
July 10, 2010 at 8:58 am
This game isvirtully inpenetratable
July 11, 2010 at 7:58 am
are ljn still making games now ??
cause if they do
i will kill myself 🙂
March 14, 2013 at 3:46 pm
I don’t think LJN makes games anymore. And if that’s true, I’ll be fucking happy!
November 14, 2013 at 2:06 am
LJN went defunct in 1995.
July 17, 2010 at 11:00 pm
I would like to see the sega Terminator game haveing played it as a child but honestly, its nothing special. Not the worst not the best.
LJN now has a reputation of making the worst games. I just dont understand how they could make such horrific pieces of cow shit.
July 19, 2010 at 11:18 pm
Hasta La Vista, Baby…..would have been better at the end…just my opinion 🙂
July 20, 2010 at 9:47 pm
Yeah those games did suck but I played that one life, no continue over and over. The music on the lvl 2 bike chase for nintendo was great though. Brings back memories, big time.
August 8, 2010 at 1:32 pm
i remember playing that when i was about 10 years old. it was the worst experience of my life. i have had nightmares about it for years. i still havnt recovered from T2 on SNES. the rainbow says it all. GAAAAAAAAAY!!!
August 21, 2010 at 1:49 am
I had the Genesis version of both games and the side scroller was just that terrible. I loved the arcarde shooter but the side scroller was so bad I returned it to the store in less than a week of buying it. Damn it just sucked so much.
August 25, 2010 at 1:11 am
Kamakazi-No, ljn doesn’t make games anymore. Someone poured Pepto Bismol on their offices and cured the world of them.
September 4, 2010 at 12:25 pm
Terminator 2 is not that bad actually, the only really annoying thing is the motorcycle parts.
you have to press a button and a direction to turn which is absurd, but the game stays pretty true to the movie though.
the second level is pretty easy if you disable the alarm before you go in, everytime i play it i make it to the cyberdyne complex that level is extremely hard seeing you have to get John and Sarah through as well and they die quikly.
definatly not the worst of LJN, they have done a lot worse then this.
but i doubt any of you will actually try the game yourself, all you really do is follow James’s opinion like it is fact.
i seriously recommend you sheep watch the movie called “the wave”, it used to be an mandatory educational film about people that blindly follow a leader.
if Germans (still) had the same mentality like the fanboys on this site then WW3 would be around the corner.
apparantly for most of you there is a very thin line between liking something and worshipping it to death!
February 10, 2012 at 2:14 am
ehem, it’ called an opinion, mabye for you the game was good, but that doesn’t mean is gonna be the same for everyone, i haven’t played the game (and i never will, i don’t play any game based on a movie) so i can’t really say if it’s true or not, but the video is funny and for me that’s what it matters, and why germans ? just because of the world war 2 ? there are many many countries that can cause a world war 3, like north korea, and what if this “fanboys” played the game and didn’t liked it ? be more opend minded will you
February 10, 2012 at 2:16 am
by the way, i’m not german, but putting them as an example for a world war 3 is just….well…racist (i guess)
September 15, 2010 at 3:57 pm
I’m surprised nobody mentioned that LJN is Acclaim Ent. The games they made weren’t much better. All of the Sega games have Flying Edge instead of LJN, but its still Acclaim. (In fact, I think Acclaim used their normal name instead of LJN for the international releases.)
Because remember, thanks to Nintendo’s odd way of licensing in the NES days, Acclaim and Konami made seperate labels (LJN and Ultra, respectively) Of course… LJN was a toy company before being purchased for making games.
And the Master System and Game Gear got the same T2 that the NES got, while the Genesis got the same one the SNES got.
September 28, 2010 at 8:58 am
@LJNGameDesigner why even defend the comment? Guess they are judge and jury… as well as poor game designers.
p.s. why are the posts in descended order?
September 28, 2010 at 9:01 am
*Defend against the comment*
p.s. why can’t i edit my post either?
October 26, 2010 at 11:23 pm
I remember first seeing T2 in 2000 a week after I first saw the first film, and after seeing it, I went “8O… Man, this is awesome.”
The plot of the Game Boy version of T2 is more easyer in “Terminator Salvation,” and I love that movie.
Awesome way on destroying the SNES version of that mochery based on a great movie.
November 28, 2010 at 12:50 am
The jump in Super Nintendo reminds me of Michael Jackson for some reason.
November 29, 2010 at 5:56 pm
I know this may sound a little anal, but if you look at when you died on the motorcycle stage and the cinematic pic came up that shows the playground after the nuclear blast and a date at the bottem…I’m not quite sure if the pic just doesn’t come out clear or if it was a goof on the game, but is states the date as: August 24, 1997 and in the movie T2 the actual date of judgement day is August 29, 1997 stated by Sarah Conner while she was talking to the doctor during a taped session in the psych hsptl. If the date in the game does have the date as the 29th then I’m sorry for not having a 30′ monitor that makes it clear enough. Please James, don’t take this as a bad mark on your account for what can you expect from a shitty game. Great video and love your work as always!!
January 3, 2011 at 10:31 pm
It reminded me of Hank Hill.
In fact, the entire Super Nintendo version looks much more like Hank Hill with a gun than the Terminator.
February 10, 2012 at 9:26 am
@nomad175 LMAO! So true!
January 26, 2011 at 3:15 am
Anyone else notice that at 8:18 in the said it says “insuring” instead of “ensuring”. Kinda weird do they have insurance on making sure you don’t beat that part 0.o
February 25, 2011 at 6:33 pm
How in the holy mother of fuck did you beat T2 on the NES? As a kid I could at least get to the end bosses in Ninja Gaiden 1-2, beat SMB3 and beat Castlevania 3, but never once did I make it past that motorcycle stage.
April 10, 2011 at 8:46 pm
April 28, 2011 at 6:51 pm
Antone else find it funny that someone actually called themself LJNGameDesigner?
August 13, 2011 at 10:27 am
Question:Is LJN now part of THQ or Acciam?
December 13, 2013 at 3:35 am
well if it’s THQ, no wonder it have bankrupt.
September 12, 2011 at 5:34 pm
fuck i hate ljn
October 18, 2011 at 7:30 pm
i like LJN. It’s lie the howling 4- no one can see past the flaws to enjoy it.
November 4, 2011 at 10:24 am
JackredluM, I am very agree with you. Judging something only because someone else say it’s good or bad it’s very bad idea and lack of personal opinion. Please don’t get me wrong. I am fan of the NERD, but sometime he speak for games that are not bad at all.
First example is side scroller T2 game for Sega/SNES. I personally don’t like SNES version because control of the driving stages is different from Sega versions, also the blue sky in first level at the background makes no sense , the events in the first level take time at late evening or night in the movie.
Anyway , the Sega Genesis version is very good in my opinion, is hard game, but when you used to driving stages, the game is actually very good and follow the events in the movie very correctly.
I like NES version too. Its’ not bat game. Is actually very playable game and have a smooth control . The music is also dark and very creepy and fit perfectly for the atmosphere.
T2 Arcade Game is good one too. both sega/SNES versions. The only level that I hate (maybe the most hated level for any games ever for me) is the level that you must keep john connor alive on the truck. This level is from hell and I beat it only once or two on emulator only , with tones of reloaded save states.
My point is that T2 games are not bad at all. not like the NERD said. In any other way the review is fun, professional and very interesting and informative to watch. Kudos .
February 10, 2012 at 2:21 am
maybe for you not, but for the nerd they are bad games and i think opinion from other people does matter, more when the tastes of that certain person is very similar to yours, it’s not lack of personal opinion, is taking in consideretaion the opinion of others, many people trust in reviews to decided wether or not they are gonna buy a certain game, or watch a certain movie or book and so on
November 25, 2011 at 8:52 am
Woah there James.
Don’t blame LJN for making the T-800 a pussy, blame James Cameron for what he did to the character in T2.
With lines like “Chill out dickwad” and the fact this TERMINATOR is not allowed to TERMINATE after it “swore” not to. Or even that this unstopbable killing machine is reduced to being a 10 year old’s plaything that “understands” why people cry.
LJN just worked with the character Cameron ruined.
November 25, 2011 at 9:37 pm
James, you should do a Sega accesories AVGN
December 3, 2011 at 5:48 pm
I love termanator !!!!
January 3, 2012 at 6:25 pm
A FIRST AID KID???
Dude, if u have a white box, with a red skull at home,
PLEASE dont take that stuff when ur ill,
just throw it away and visit a doctor XD
January 17, 2012 at 8:55 pm
i like the effect when james throws the game in the lava
March 9, 2012 at 2:22 am
January 22, 2012 at 12:21 am
is “Hasta la vista baby” , or maby the original line that said john conor as a kid when he trow away the chip, he said ” Adios”, NOT GOODBYE BABY, that is just wrong
February 8, 2012 at 12:56 pm
@EmilianoJaramillo If you don`t know Hasta la vista and Adios both mean Goodbye and AVGN probably did not want to be a totall rip-off
March 9, 2012 at 2:21 am
When I saw that I actually wondered how he got the game to spin and fall like that over the clip, not find something wrong with what he says.
February 11, 2012 at 8:05 am
As I remember my chilhood, the time when i was playing terminator games…It’s a bad memories 🙁 Seriously, thats sucks, especialy sega version of T2.Dam ,it could be a great game, if it would’t be that game.
February 11, 2012 at 1:31 pm
i think you should do a top 10 good video games from Ljn, Nes and Snes. Carnage (snes) was one of the games a had alot of fun and is a good game, so I imagine they have a couple good or not that bad games.
February 23, 2012 at 2:22 am
@DaleckSec Maximum Carnage was a classic for me as a kid.

T2 is one of the worst written sequels made.
From gaping plot holes, inconsistant rules, terrible characrers.
As a sequel, it actually does not work at all.

Technechly Journey to silius (Apologies if I spell it wrong) was going to be a termunator game, but sunsoft lost the lisence. One of the reasons for this is the shitty LJN game.

I accidentally bought the genesis version of the T2 game thinking it would be different. Playing it was the worse 3 minutes of my life so far, and I’ve had to sit through Lil Wayne songs in my brother’s car
June 29, 2012 at 6:46 pm
Actually, you know what he looks like in the snes version when he jumps? He looks just like Lester the Unlikely. Thanks, LJN.
September 23, 2012 at 12:29 pm
I had the T2 games for the Megadrive the Arcade & the Film. Me & my brother could never get past the bit where you’re supposed to protect John Connor!
The film game wasn’t as bad! I got used to the driving controls (it might be better on the Megadrive). The furthest I ever got was the hospital where you’re suposed to rescue Sarah.
November 15, 2012 at 4:41 pm
I have to shamefully admit, I owned the SNES version of T2. It was a HORRIBLE excuse of a game. I got a little bit farther than what james managed, I had gotten to the insane asylum, but let me tell you, it took me about a year of owning it and playing off and on to figure everything out. I want those wasted hours back.
November 17, 2012 at 3:05 pm
One thing I will say about T2 for SNES, if you can get to the mall stage it’s really GTA-ish. You can start mowing down civilians and security guards. Eventually the police show up. Kill enough, SWAT shows up. Eventually the army is sent in to take you down. Pretty funny. Theres a gun shop in the mall but IMO the shotgun is the best weapon, although I think there’s better stuff later on but I could never get that far.
Tip; at the Connor house, before you go in shoot the alarm box on the front of the house, near the top if I remember right. Then when you go in you don’t have to deal with cops showing up.
December 9, 2012 at 9:57 am
I actually liked Terminator 2 Judgement day for SNES as a kid… I admit I never made it past the cyberdine level until my freshman year of college in 2008 though…
We got it in the late 90s supposedly as a gift for my “sister’s” birthday.
The trick to the driving portion is being in the middle of the road when turning. The game also does technically have more than one life. You have emergency power if you take on too much damage. After the emergency power however you are done. Honestly as a kid I liked shooting everything in all the levels and watching the explosions.
Like I mentioned above the game isn’t too bad until you get to the cyberdine level when you have exploding things falling from the ceiling, swarms of enemies, a complete maze of a level to explore. If you accidentally pick up the machine gun in cyberdine over the minigun you picked up two levels before cyberdine you pretty made it 100x harder. After cyberdine is the last level. A level that is hard beyond compare. I couldn’t beat that level until I opened the game up on an emulator instead and did flash saves on the last boss.
This specific title should be re-reviewed. Yes it is bad, but bad in a good way.
January 12, 2013 at 5:46 am
Terminator 2 was one of my first Gameboy games when I was a child, and I NEVER managed to pass the first stage until I had internet. Really sad.
January 15, 2013 at 8:00 pm
when will there be a new avgn
January 23, 2013 at 5:50 am
I wish there was a good terminator snes game =(
January 24, 2013 at 7:31 am
Funny thing is that LJN was a subsidiary of Acclaim. Also LJN always used external developers for their video games whose names were never disclose, no wonder why. 😀 Shitty games nontheless. 🙂
June 25, 2013 at 5:23 am
Very horrible! lol
October 23, 2013 at 10:28 pm
“Goodbye Baby” hahaha
November 3, 2013 at 4:28 am
Love the Follin Brothers! I know it’s bad, but I have good childhood memory with t2 on nes. Probably because the music was so weird and different from other nes games.
December 9, 2013 at 4:26 pm
i dont mean to be rude but could you maybe turn up the volume in some of these? No disrespect intended, i watch them anyway. Just 2 cents that you can boost the sound via compressors or ‘expanders’ or ‘maximizers’.. just when you see the meter showing sound, try to get it as high as possible in the green (aka close to 0 dB) as possible. I dunno how you finalize videos, but I hope this helps in the future. Much love and respect! – this guy
December 31, 2013 at 5:28 am
T2 was an awesome movie but for one fact. I wanted to murder small animals every time Edward Furlong squealed as he did through the whole fucking movie.
February 5, 2014 at 8:14 pm
the first game he put in was LJN, and after what seemed like a minute, he said NOTHING bad about it. Awesome
