You left out the sega genesis game.
April 30, 2010 at 6:21 pm
AVGN tends to do that, he did the same with the first Batman video. I know he prefers Nintendo 8 and 16 bit consoles to the sega counterparts, that may have something to do with it (though he did highlight the Sega Cd version.)

Yet another terrible licensed game… what a surprise. Its too bad that Sunsoft lost the Terminator license, the game they were planning for the property became Journey to Silius. Too bad that game for whatever reason never got the recognition it deserved.
June 14, 2010 at 9:41 pm
Journey to Silius was REALLY hard (especially back when I first played it at age 9), and still is really hard, but it was the shit – it has what I personally believe to be one of the very best soundtracks of any NES game.
July 10, 2010 at 1:25 pm
the game is a disappointment
what a bunch of shit
they could have tried a little bit harder
October 25, 2013 at 4:33 pm
This is the nes game that I hate the most out of the whole library. There is no soundtrack just a clusterfuck of ear crushing shit, the controls are almost intentionally butchered beyond repair. The graphicsl design is a generation back and the game just grates on you the entire time with horribly looking and horribly placed platforms, enemies, and obstacles that rely on you giving up on any logical solution and just randomly trying things.
September 6, 2014 at 12:52 pm
Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde is still probably worse.
July 16, 2010 at 11:08 pm
Journey to Silius is hard, but it is really good. You are right about it being originally a Terminator game. The AVGN’s counterpart, the HVGN, did a review of Journey to Silius.
August 8, 2010 at 12:56 pm
who the fuck is HVGN?
October 25, 2013 at 4:35 pm
Happy Videogame Nerd
September 12, 2010 at 6:24 pm
HVGN – Happy Video Game Nerd. Plays underrated NES classics.
I played the NES game. You know who subliscensed the game? Bethesda Softworks. Only they could publish this shitty anal fest.
September 14, 2010 at 10:38 pm
One thing I really don’t understand about this review is in the NES Game.
During the Truck Sequence, you can aim your gun with Up and Down while driving with Left and Right. Allowing you to save extra lives for the Past by Killing the Flying HK (With a little luck) and the Ground HK (By shooting at that thing on its chest.) It has a nice range of aim too. Not like the SNES version with only 3 Direction aim.
And the Past in the NES should’ve been covered. I would’ve almost died laughing at the lack of movie accuracy in the fact that you get NO weapons save for 3 or so worthless baseballs. You have to punch and kick your way through the rest of the game (With two driving levels, with horrendous controls.)
September 14, 2010 at 10:45 pm
Also, if you want to see the ending on the SNES version without playing it, just let the intro run about 3 or 4 times, the ending AND credits roll. It saves the hassle of traversing through HUGE stages.
October 6, 2010 at 4:48 pm
Yeah the only thing at the end of that rainbow are turds!! Long live the Nerd!!
October 24, 2010 at 12:45 pm
The ending is absolutely hysterical!
October 26, 2010 at 10:49 pm
Like most of the big film franchises, the Terminator films are one of my all-time favorites. It’s a nice bled described by James at the beginning of this episode.
If you wanna talk about bad Terminator games, I’ve played T3: ROFM on Xbox. That game was a difficult mess to play through. It was so hard NOT to die, I had to punch in the invincibility code to continue through the game. The only good thing about it is that it has the Terminator theme on the start-up screen.
The NES game looks like it’s powerful enough to drive the most logical of Vulcans to anger.
“Holy mother and f#cking god $h!t holy macroll gosh damn.” XD
The music in the Sega CD game IS bitchin’. B)
November 28, 2010 at 12:23 am
Wasn’t the DOS version the first FPS with a driving sequence or something like that?
December 24, 2010 at 1:05 pm
OH NO! NOT THE LJN RAINBOW!!!O_o
December 29, 2010 at 1:55 pm
LJN……..if LJN were to try and save the world we would be fucked for sure
January 3, 2011 at 9:57 pm
I don’t know who is responsible for the first minute of this being so awesome,
but it belongs on your resume! That was pretty damn wise.
January 6, 2011 at 2:10 pm
I noticed, that after chase part when you made a shot and hit the spear, you gained 100 points (8:06). So there you CAN gain another 50000×6 points and continue with jumping. 🙂
January 13, 2011 at 12:30 am
LJN that fuckn rainbow!!
January 26, 2011 at 5:26 pm
I’m playing the Terminator NES right now, and the levels after the ones James played are just as shitty as the rest, if not shittier. After the part James died on, you go to the present and have to fight policemen, dogs and thugs in a shopping mall, the policemen shoot at you but all you can do is punch, kind of like some of the Indiana Jones games James reviewed. And the hit detection is just as shitty as the knife in Rambo for NES.
What follows: an overhead driving stage, no bad action movie adaptation is complete without one. Haven’t made it much further yet, but it really is an experience to play a really bad old game like that. I recommend looking at both the NES and SNES games at least once though, because the jumping is just so dorky it needs to be encountered first person, in my opinion.
April 10, 2011 at 8:45 pm
This is probably the second time i’ve seen this video, and i still said “oh NO!” when I saw the shit rainbow…..
May 19, 2011 at 12:50 pm
make love, not war… unless its war against LJN
October 25, 2013 at 4:36 pm
Mindscape was worse than LJN. They didn’t even try to hide that they were just trying to make quick cash off of getting licenses to big titles.
June 6, 2011 at 4:17 pm
April 12, 2010 at 4:24 pm

Well, he did actually mention in one of his other videos that, if he doesn’t have the game, he can’t review it. But I guess he could of mentioned it, anyways.
July 8, 2011 at 7:56 am
the Sega CD game is awesome, the OST is made by Tommy Tellarico, pure gold
August 23, 2011 at 8:13 pm

August 24, 2011 at 10:45 pm

October 16, 2011 at 3:03 pm
I’ll be back!
October 18, 2011 at 7:29 pm
I am the only person who enjoys LJN games? I’ve played everything they’ve churned out and i’ve only found 2 games i don’t care for.
December 23, 2011 at 5:00 pm

December 25, 2011 at 7:56 am
ljn blows dude… check the name!
February 10, 2012 at 9:13 am
The only LJN games that are playable are friday the 13th and Nightmare on Elm Street. My Dad picked Friday up for next to nothing from a k-mart that was emptying it’s inventory in the late 80’s and I’ve always enjoyed that one it’s a good challenge and is at least a game. Nightmare I traded a friend battletoads for years later (fuck that game level 9 is shit in a cart) and is fun every now and then to play through.
November 8, 2011 at 5:49 pm
@Riddler are you freaking crazy?! You are the only one who likes LJN.
November 25, 2011 at 1:09 am
There’s a light at the end of the tunnel, but the final boss that blocks the exit is a little symbol that reads “LGN, BITCHEZ, problem?”

Terminator 5 is coming 2014
January 19, 2012 at 4:37 am
I’ve heard that “Alien 3” by LJN is a decent game, but people say it’s bad just because it’s LJN that made the game. Is this true?
February 10, 2012 at 12:24 am
@ThrowntoReality Anything LJN touches turns to shit inside a cartridge.
February 10, 2012 at 9:08 am
@MrMurderx1221 @ThrowntoReality And Ocean
February 16, 2012 at 5:49 am
@ThrowntoReality Alien 3, ignore ALL Nintendo versions as they are ljn crudfests, instead Alien 3 on the Genesis (by Arena) is a decent yet very tough game, the controls aren’t bad but it is hard! The levels are on quite short timers and you aren’t some super-shooting badass marine with a million guns, you are RIpley who kicks just enough ass to stay alive if you don’t screw up hehe

You could always use the wrench on a turbo controller!
April 10, 2012 at 3:07 pm
i like some ljn games…
October 25, 2013 at 4:41 pm
I love Friday the 13th. Most LJN games you can play somewhat and get at least some enjoyment.
April 10, 2012 at 3:09 pm
besides, AVGN overexagurates it just to be funny. Ive played like 5 ljn games and only 2 were bad. I agree with you riddler. And i even have ET on atari and its not that bad, just frustrating and confusing as hell
May 17, 2012 at 10:58 am
How come whenever he brings up emulators he refers to them as total cheats, and nothing more than “beat a game buttons”, but then he’s all “game genies man, thats OK.” It just seems like a massive contradiction, and to top it off, it is sometimes harder to play on an emulator if theres a lot of fast paced action in which you cant save state, like in TMNT. you can each level, but there are still instances in which you cant save yourself, or you can under the risk of saving yourself in immediate death.
May 8, 2014 at 9:55 am
I can understand why someone who doesn’t use emulators could think of them as super cheat programs. The only real advantages you get over the actual console are the save state feature, which I only ever use if the only other option is a long ass password, the graphics, which almost makes games look worse because of the clearly defined pixels, and availability of games.
To be honest, I’d play on the actual consoles if I could afford it. Playing NES with an Xbox 360 controller ain’t all it’s cracked up to be.
July 2, 2012 at 12:16 pm
You know, I just noticed, on the screen with the spears, he actually shot something and got 100 points!
September 10, 2012 at 10:36 am
I can understand why he prefers actual hardware vs emulators. Not all of us can afford the hardware to be Angry Nerds ourselves. Nor the software. Anyways, There was a good Terminator for a console, though it was hard as shit, even in easy, it’s Terminator for Genesis (Megadrive actually) from Probe/Virgin Games.
November 21, 2012 at 3:56 pm
Lol.. Dvd quality videos on the internet.. ridicilous. Btw what are dvd and the internet?
January 9, 2013 at 9:41 pm
Why didnt you mention the Sega Genesis version of the Terminator game? I actually owned that game and the graphics werent bad, the music and sounds were good as well as the controls and overall gameplay. It was challenging enough also, without being too difficult. Not to mention it had the title sequence from the movie with the right music to go with it. In this video I noticed the stock enemies with guns in the sega CD version look like that of the ones in the Sega Genesis version.
January 15, 2013 at 10:56 am
one of the best characters but also one of the worst games ever!!!!
January 17, 2013 at 9:08 pm
For the NES: Well at the start of the game you play as Kyle Reese and you are in the future. WELL OF COURSE ITS GOING TO BE GRAY AND BLEAK! In the Terminator series, they show the future being dark and building crumbled (except for “Terminator: Salvation”). And of course your going to be jumping on: pipes and things that are hanging. Thats all I have to say.
May 19, 2013 at 10:57 am
When i’ve got this game on Megadrive as a kid,I’ve never understand what you have to do XD
June 25, 2013 at 5:09 am
I agree. If your going to do games like this, everyone should take contra as a big example!!!
October 11, 2013 at 5:57 pm
James, you should try this
December 31, 2013 at 5:22 am
Why do I keep thinking “Shot in the Dark” by Ozzy when I hear the music in the Sega CD version?
