I wonder… how do they stop you from accessing wireless internet at hotels?

    • lance2011

      October 7, 2013 at 7:12 pm

Nomrtaly before you can use Hotel Wifi thier’s am log in page on comes up on the web bower wean you 1st start it up. I’m ok if the TV has like Food Network, Discovery Channel and National Geographic Channel but wean mostly sports and news networks I pass. I do like to have my own media lucky if on DVD in the room put out my Windows 7 laptop. The one thing about the Internet that pisses me off is wean they try to force us to Internet video and I can’t log-in as Hulu Plus it’s blocked. That also bullshit.

    • June 20, 2014 at 7:04 pm

Login credentials. Most good hotels give you free access for basic stuff. You just have to ask for the u/pw

You know what really bull shit about hotel tv’s? When they put a fucking device over the end of the coaxial cable the prevents you from unscrewing it like a fucking child lock on a kitchen cabinet. When this happens then you’re really up shit creek.

    • January 19, 2014 at 9:56 am

i did exactly that. took my NES and psx (street fighter 2 fun) to 2 5 star hotels in las vegas. worked perfectly. you can see it in action on my youtube videos – my channel “funtravelguyhd” – i stayed in both vdara (at 2:30) in the video and aria (5:28 in the video) hotels.

  • April 10, 2010 at 8:57 pm

Hey, look what I found! I guess there is a secret factory the makes specialty hotel TVs!

    April 19, 2010 at 4:29 pm

    @TJ

I went to the Wisconsin Dells a few years ago and I brought my Wii with. I try to hook up my Wii and guess what? Those stupid locks were in the way! I got lucky with an old TV that didn’t have the stupid lock on it. Good thing I also had my coaxial adapter with me. I say complain to the hotel staff and threaten to go somewhere else. Maybe they will give in and unlock that shit for you because they don’t want to lose a customer.

    Most hotels have free wi-fi.

I would have broken out my Game Boy, not a deck of cards! :P

  • April 19, 2010 at 11:26 pm

Hotels suck worldwide. It doesn’t matter where you go, they’re all that way. It’s not just here in the States.

  • April 24, 2010 at 11:41 am

I have to agree, I remember how FUCKEN upset i was when i couldn’t play my PlayStation or watch any of my movies that i liked, made me want to just scream out BULLLLSHIIIITTTT!!!

  • paperboy779

    May 1, 2010 at 8:37 am

    …..kidding…..

I agree with the pay internet more than the TVs, because on my trip to LA to see Al Stuart, both motels (both Motel 6′s) advertised WiFi here. Whats I did at the first one was look all around the sign for even the smallest text that may say $2.99 for access. All I wanted to do was check my email, listen to a few songs on Pandora, and update Facebook along with Farmville. The second one had this computer in the lobby that you have to pay for. But this one had the same bullshit, $2.99 for one day, like I would use it all day!! So I walked across the street to Dell Taco, Carls Jr., and AM/PM to see if they had it for free. but it was not, The Dell taco worker didn’t know the network name, Carls Jr. charged for it, and AM/PM didn’t have it at all. after not finding a free connection, I went back to the motel, got my swim suit, and went in the pool for an hour and a half, then showered to go to the concert. Got back wanting to use the internet at around 11:00 PM and didn’t get on because you had to pay!!! NOW THATS BULLSHIT!!! I hope you didn’t get bored from my blog like post but this is my first.
    First Post on Cinemassacre!!

  • June 3, 2010 at 1:41 pm

Is the name of that hotel really Hotel Ass ?! *laughs*

    I like this series.

  • mesaone

    June 5, 2010 at 4:18 pm

I understand being bored and wanting to play games. So buy a PSP or a nintendo DS or something. PSP has a video out cable to hook up to a TV. and if you cant hook it up then use the screen on the PSP. Plus it has emulators for almost all older systems.

But, I guess with an easy solution, there would be no You Know What’s Bullshit episodes.

  • Zelda_Boy

    June 16, 2010 at 10:25 pm

wow……Circuit City…….this video has some age showing already.

  • Droid2055

    June 22, 2010 at 10:10 am

Most of hte time when I’m in a hotel there is no TV and thats even worse. I’d rather watch 24 hour adverts than sit and look at a blank wall where my TV should be

  • July 4, 2010 at 12:23 am

Psp doesnt have an emulator for all old systems you have to fig it and even when you do it cant even play starfox thats why I dont hack any of my systems plus if you do hack the psp you cant play any psn titles or new games so the cons of hacking a psp or jailbreaking an ipod FAR outweigh the cons!

  • July 5, 2010 at 3:47 am

    1) There are many hotel chains that have “free wireless internet.” Yea you’re probably are already paying for it, whether you use it or not, but what can you? You might be lucky to pick up another wireless single. Maybe or not.

    2) The TVs are bullshit. The channel guide is hard to find and / or is incorrect. I’ve never seen a hotel TV with video input slots. But, I ask, why would you bring an x-box, Wii, or ps3 to a hotel unless you’re staying with a group of friends? Even if it was a party environment like mag-fest or whatever, you’d still have to lug around the console, controllers, wires, and games.

    3) IMO. I want my hotel room to be clean. No bugs. No used condoms under the bed. No nasty stains on the carpet. I wouldn’t expect the average hotel to treat me like a VIP. If I have to pay extra for the internet, I’d rather find a coffee shop with wi-fi and sit down. If I could play any video games, no problem either, I’ll play a game on my ipod (or iphone if you have one).

But the TVs themselves are BS no doubt.

  • kingkehra

    July 9, 2010 at 2:05 am

Sadly one of the TVs in my room doesn’t have any RCA inputs, only coaxial. I have my PS2 plugged in it though, I have coaxial adapters for most my consoles cause of that shitty TV. I probably stole it from a hotel one night while I was drunk or something.

  • PaulWayman

    July 9, 2010 at 6:05 pm

I agree with the TV and charging for internet. I stayed in the Aston Waikiki beach hotel, and the TV had the same bullshit, including an N64 controller for games, the movies and music that you have to pay for. The TV had RCA inputs and slots for memory cards and all I had to unlock that shit was unplug the Lodgenet controller from the TV then the inputs were usable.

Another thing thats ass is if you wanted to use the internet in your room, you had to pay a ridiculisly high price. $9.95 for a day, $39.95 for a whole week, and if thats not insane enough, $105.99 for 30 days, like you would stay there for a month. Thank god they had free WiFi for your laptop, but the only place I could use it was at their pay-per-use desktop computers in the lobby. There was no password for the internet, I just had to accept their terms of service.

So if you get a flatscreen TV with inputs in the hotel room try unplugging the lodegenet controller. And if you have to pay for internet in the room, bring your laptop to the lobby and see if there is free wireless there. But still, those games on the TV, along with the movies and music, THATS BULLSHIT!!!

  • DarkSlayer

    July 31, 2010 at 10:43 pm

Reminds me of a time I stayed in a hotel and I had to pay to play N64 for an hour. The thing is Playstation 2, Gamecube, and Xbox were already out. So why did they have only N64? I only got to play for an hour unless I payed more. Now that is what I call Bullshit.

  • asc3asc3asc

    August 15, 2010 at 7:53 pm

omg James, do you take your full size consoles with you on the road ??? That’s utter bullshit XDDD

  • August 20, 2010 at 5:21 pm

You know whats bullshit? Having to watch a 30 second commercial on a 1 minute video clip.

  • LigeiaMaloy

    August 26, 2010 at 12:07 am

Is it bullshit to bring a book along while in a hotel? xD

Really, sitting in the this-one-will-kill-me-for-sure plane for hours, putting up with annoying flight attendents, or standing in a traffic jam for hours, getting used to a different currency maybe, searching for the hotel, dealing with the hole-in-the-brain idiot who’s just walked away with your suitcase…

All this bullshit for playing video games and watching DVD in a hotel room?

    That’s bullshit xD

Na, don’t take me serious. Maybe I’m just easy to please because the portables and a few books are enough for me when I stay in a hotel.

  • kevinlalik

    September 3, 2010 at 10:50 pm

He said go to circuit city *sigh*

  • Ahrimaine

    September 11, 2010 at 5:29 pm

Yes, most hotels buy their tv’s direct from the manufacturer. On the other hand, the hotel I work at just switched out all their crappy old coax only 27″ tv’s, with 32″ lcd’s we just got from an electronics retailer, RCA and HDMI inputs intact.

As for the internet…. we provide wireless for free, but it’s complete ass, so you still lose, what can you do?

  • BKILLER777

    September 12, 2010 at 11:53 pm

You know whats more bullshit then hotel TV’s? Hospital TV’s. First they dont have RCA input. Second is that u cant watch TV without a $25 for one fucking day. Third is that if you did have a coaxial converter, u cant get to the back. Fourth is that if u do have a labtop then u cant go on on there wi-fi without a special code. so thats some more bullshit and would be even funnier if James did a review on this.

  • freddy-krgr14

    September 15, 2010 at 7:46 pm

a secret for everyone. James did not, I repaeat DID NOT make thi vid out his own desire. I TOLD him to make the video because this is how I fell about it, and he agreed. so he made the video for me.
OK not really but, he might as well have. because this is Literally how I feel about it. Also he forgot some things: some hotels DON’T even have the games or movies to buy, so you have a TV with bullshit channels, no entertainment on it of any kind, and THEY STILL got the nerve to make it so that the TV’s don’t let you play you stuff. AND on one occasion, I wnt to this one “nice” hotel, and it had the RCA insput, AND I STILL couldn’t play it. you know why? because the hotel workers deliberately fucked up the TV so you couldn’t play it. the way this happened is that you turn the game on, and you can’t see the picture AT ALL ’cause it looks like crap, all snowy and such. I have a cable to hook the game up to the coaxial input just in case, but I hate having to resort to that, because it’s a pain in the ass. one ok thng, I usually don’t have to pay for internet at a hotel. I get it for free most of the time. but bottom line : THAT’S BULLSHIT!

  • freddy-krgr14

    September 15, 2010 at 8:01 pm

@BKILLER777 at the hospital I go to, I love watchingtheTV’sthere. My hospital is THE BEST THERE IS! in the inpatient rooms, the tv’s are HD, pretty big, like 30 or 40 something inches, so they look great, they have a gretty good amount of channels, they actually are NOT too cheap to afford AT LEAST standard cable, so you get like 60 or 70 something channels,AND IT’S FREE TO WATCH! another cool thing. there’s this room called the infusion unit, in there you have a HELL OF a time sitting in there, they haveHUGE TV’s,also HD, they have this special speaker that hangs above your head like a light, so you get to hear it better, there is a HUGE variey of video games AND movies for you to enjoy while you are in there. Seriously, they have the XBOX 360, the PS2,the Gamecube, and even a few PC games that you can play on laptops they have, not to mention the GIGANTIC library of movies to watch on you TV.
I got to ask you, what hospital do YOU go to? it sucks, because they are shits where you go. Sorry about what you suffer

  • RMZXKallen

    September 16, 2010 at 5:07 pm

My old TV that I had before the one I just got didn’t have RCA inputs on the front or Back.

It was like having a hotel TV at home.

I hope he would do one about commercials intruding on the internet. I sometimes like the commercials to get up and go to the bathroom, but it’s ridiculous to sit and wait while the episode really starts. Even worse, if you are in a hurry and you think you can still watch the episode, you get even more late.

  • Johnny_Quest808

    February 15, 2011 at 4:59 pm

  • steven316

    March 9, 2011 at 12:55 am

I have never had any problems with hotel tv’s. I usually hit up the 3 to 4 start hotels I know that if I pay 40 dollars a night the tv’s will never be more than a big box of nothing lol. Pay a little more for the room and your tv will be better thats a promise. Check out Hyatt, Marriot, and some other nice places. I know that a lot people don’t have the money for an expensive hotel but if you pay a little extra you won’t have to complain about a different tv. I went to a hotel called Aloft and they had a converter for everything…computer, usb, rca’s and maybe some other stuff. Things weren’t working and the lady at the desk said she would personally come see whats wrong and if she could get things to work. Im not sure what you guys are complaining about extra for paying lowest cost for a hotel and then expecting extra features.

  • Dark Omega

    April 1, 2011 at 5:18 am

Hotels themselves are bullshit. Especially expensive ones. Why pay so much money to sleep. I don’t give two shits how fancy the building is, all you really so is sleep and occasionally fuck there.

This is why I bring my portables with me on vacation, as well as some books and graphic novels. Hell, I rarely leave home without at least my PSP or DS or at the very least my MP3 player in my pocket. But that’s mainly a habit of me having to frequently ride the bus roughly two hours during the work week.

whats funny about the wizard is they’re always playing the nes via rca instead of coaxial EVEN IN A HOTEL. it was hard to find a tv with rca back then, but even still they never have them in hotels

  • m00neye

    July 19, 2011 at 9:44 am

After watching this I went through my apartment checking the tvs. I never noticed that exept the big widescreen tv just one older had em. So i have 2 tvs that can only be plugged with an antena or the european wide plug. They are a Panasonic and a Goldstar(LG) – just if you are wondering which are those “hotel room tv” companies.

I went to Vienna and Budapest. In Vienna we had one tv for the whole building. 1 TV for more than 200 people. :I

In Budapest it was quite better , except te TVs. They were more than 25 years old and mine was damaged (like the bathroom , toilet , wardrobe etc.)

  • PhilipHanan

    September 18, 2011 at 12:25 am

You know you could just bring a portable video game system. Besides. DS, 3DS, and PSP is way better than some old N64 that you pay for by the hour.

I think that you’re right about the secret Hotel TV factory on USA, because here in México, we don’t have that problem, every hotel i went on all the country did had a TV with connections for a videogame. Except from those hotels that don’t have TV at all. The only problem in some hotels is that the Tv’s are hanging on the ceiling and it’s almost impossible to connect a console.
By the way sorry about the misspeling, I still have some problems with that.

Out of curiosity I looked it up, and yes, there ARE special factories that make em. They’re called ‘Hospitality Televisions’, but what’s so hospitable about forcing you to pay for your own stuff, I don’t know.

  • Nekaron

    August 20, 2012 at 10:16 am

    hahah Hotel Ass

  • June 30, 2014 at 9:10 am

On number show 99 on TIWT Know How I found out something that may help. Although the Hotel may force you to pay and fee removing the phone like wire is so post to unlock things like the HDMI ports not just the cam port.
