Great conclusion to an epic series of reviews. I can’t wait until this year’s Monster Madness.
June 7, 2010 at 5:17 pm
Baby Godzilla looked like crap again, what happened. And this the only one of two godzilla movies i got to watch ENTIRELY. Would’ve loved to see more monsters or even baby godzilla kicken ass.
November 11, 2013 at 7:58 pm
He looks better than what he looked like in Godzilla’s Revenge, though.
June 30, 2010 at 1:07 pm
If there is a remake of King Kong vs Godzilla, I hope Peter Jackosn does it, he did so well with remaking King Kong, it only fits that he brings back Godzilla too.
July 6, 2010 at 6:17 pm

November 20, 2010 at 4:24 pm
I’ve seen, the next Godzilla will be an american production again. I don’t know what to think of that. It is a simple fact that Godzilla is a japanese thing.
November 26, 2010 at 8:25 am
Goddamn I loved this movie it’s pure madness really a must see if u like monster brawl and random crazyness XD
December 1, 2010 at 6:18 am
I saw this movie in the theater in Japan and fucking loved it!
Also, as mentioned in a previous comment, the guy with the mustache is Don Frye. If you want to see one of the most insane mma fights EVER, youtube search “Don Frye vs Takayama”. The beat the everlasting shit out of each other!
Thanks for doing all these revies James. I’m late in discovering your site, but these reviews got me back into Godzilla movies.

I didn’t like this movie much, but that was mainly because it was basically just The Matrix with some giant monsters thrown in, in my opinion. I did like the monster fight scenes, especially the Godzilla/Mothra team-up. I didn’t really like the parts that had anything else much, except for the stupid subtitles, which are really funny. I saw the English dubbed version of this, and the dub and the subtitles are way off (ex. Dub: Do you need any help?, Subs: Would you like a banana?). Finally I just have one question, shared by the friends of mine who have also seen this: why does Godzilla’s son look like Barney?
January 6, 2011 at 11:04 pm
well frist of all godzilla cant fight that one monster that turtle or what not because in godzilla sos i belive they show that same monster on the shore dead with a big gash in his throught
January 25, 2011 at 9:17 pm
This is the best godzilla movie of the millenium series by far.

April 15, 2011 at 6:42 pm
This is the best godzilla film from the millennium. Kung fu fighting, classics Kaijus monsters beat the hell at each other, alien invasion, and cities getting destroy around the world is the perfect recipe for a mexican like me
April 25, 2011 at 10:08 pm
Baby godzilla looks like a shaven monkey!
July 12, 2011 at 9:39 pm
James. I have watched the entire GODZILLATHON and my god you did a damn well job in getting me in the mood for more of the BIG G. Thanks for getting me even more obsessed with the franchise. Be looking for those DVD’S now.
August 23, 2011 at 10:29 am
It doesn’t end there. He’s also in a string of coffee commercial alongside MLB player Hideki Matsui (whose nickname happens to be Godzilla). If I remember, Matsui had some cameos in the Millenium era movies. Needless to say, its proof that celebrity endorsements work because I drink Kirin Fire brand coffee simply because Godzilla was in the commercials. I haven’t watched any TV recently so I don’t know if the commercials are still on or not but I crapped my pants the first time I saw it.
August 27, 2011 at 5:16 pm
SAYONARA!!! Your reviews are always so informative and there’s a lot of love evident in your writing of these films. I’ve only seen a handful of these Godzillas but I might want to see more now. Thanks!
September 9, 2011 at 9:18 pm
Dude, you should post a commentary on a few of your favorites like you did with White Zombie when you have time, I know your busy with the movie now.

October 17, 2011 at 3:10 am
by far my faviorte godzilla movie
November 23, 2011 at 4:00 pm
Hey, thanks to you James, I’ve seen the whole Godzillathon ! And yes, I mean the 28 movies, finally ! Thanks for making me discover this, I knew what Godzilla was, but I was totally unaware that it was such a big and awesome franchise.
Here’s my top 10 :
N°10 – King Kong vs. Godzilla
N°09 – Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla (1974)
N°08 – Mothra vs. Godzilla (1964)
N°07 – Godzilla vs. Biollante
N°06 – Godzilla vs. Destroyah
N°05 – Ghidorah, the Three-Headed Monster
N°04 – GMT: Giant Monsters All-Out Attack
N°03 – Godzilla (1954)
N°02 – Godzilla vs King Ghidorah
N°01 – Godzilla : Final Wars
As you can see, the crazier it is, the more I like it, and Godzilla Final Wars, to me, is clearly one of the best movies of its kind I’ve ever seen, right next to Brain Dead (Dead Alive) in another genre.
Long live Monster Madness !
December 27, 2011 at 6:11 am
Final Wars was my Fav, even though I have only seen a few.
I think 2012 is the year of the Revival, but I think a Americanization is gonna crapafile it
March 21, 2012 at 12:36 am
Outstanding Marathon; very entertaining and informative!
June 5, 2012 at 1:33 am
That IMAX one never really materialized. I loved Final Wars for one reason, for the most part Godzilla kicked all the other monsters asses. I also love the music when the fight turns back to Godzilla’s favor while battling Gidorah.
October 13, 2012 at 6:26 pm
That was a great amount of work and effort, all of which were terrific James!
I can’t wait for the Legendary Pictures Godzilla movie. It’s released date is slated for 2014. I hope it’ll be good.

June 30, 2014 at 9:45 pm
dude come back for godzillathon and talk about the godzilla 2014 with a new monster
August 27, 2014 at 3:47 pm
Personally, i think Final Wars is the best Godzilla-movie yet, it has the most balanced variety of monster action, story-driven dialogue with plot-motivation and good, believable graphics. There is just enough of an immersive sense of you-know-what-needs-to-be-done-to-save-the-world and “THESE humans (along with the titular character) are the people who are gonna do it” (with fairly interesting background-stories), and then the rest is just a big monster mash-up. Plus almost every monster made famous by the Godzilla-franchise is in it, even that oversized dinnerplate center-piece Ebirah. Even 1998′s Zilla is in it, rightly getting butt-owned by Godzilla in just a few seconds. The story could be construed as a bit over the top, but to me, it was entirely excusable, and what WAS in there, they executed nicely.
October 27, 2014 at 9:29 pm
the Sgt.Slaughter looking guy is MMA fighter Don Frye
October 28, 2014 at 9:08 am
Cloverfield stunk. Monster movies haven’t lasted for 60+ years by focusing on boring human characters. The new Godzilla did the same lame thing. There was a little great monster action at the end, but constantly cutting away from Godzilla to see cardboard characters doing things like carrying a bomb was not good. The funny thing was the use of the cliche silence as a guy is picked up after all the action. The very same cliche silence, the hero is transitioning back into the regular world after fighting the amazing battle, was used in Captain America Winter Soldier.
