Baby Godzilla looked like crap again, what happened. And this the only one of two godzilla movies i got to watch ENTIRELY. Would’ve loved to see more monsters or even baby godzilla kicken ass.
If there is a remake of King Kong vs Godzilla, I hope Peter Jackosn does it, he did so well with remaking King Kong, it only fits that he brings back Godzilla too.
great review! and Now that it is confirmed that there WILL be another Godzilla film, and its supposed to be released in 2012 i hope u will review that one too and it will be great and it will stay true to the formula of most Godzilla films.
I actually got to see this in theaters this guy brought the dvd and they just projected it i never new till now and i was ten i had a freak out i was so happy
I’ve seen, the next Godzilla will be an american production again. I don’t know what to think of that. It is a simple fact that Godzilla is a japanese thing.
I saw this movie in the theater in Japan and fucking loved it!
Also, as mentioned in a previous comment, the guy with the mustache is Don Frye. If you want to see one of the most insane mma fights EVER, youtube search “Don Frye vs Takayama”. The beat the everlasting shit out of each other!
Thanks for doing all these revies James. I’m late in discovering your site, but these reviews got me back into Godzilla movies.
I didn’t like this movie much, but that was mainly because it was basically just The Matrix with some giant monsters thrown in, in my opinion. I did like the monster fight scenes, especially the Godzilla/Mothra team-up. I didn’t really like the parts that had anything else much, except for the stupid subtitles, which are really funny. I saw the English dubbed version of this, and the dub and the subtitles are way off (ex. Dub: Do you need any help?, Subs: Would you like a banana?). Finally I just have one question, shared by the friends of mine who have also seen this: why does Godzilla’s son look like Barney?
well frist of all godzilla cant fight that one monster that turtle or what not because in godzilla sos i belive they show that same monster on the shore dead with a big gash in his throught
This is the best godzilla film from the millennium. Kung fu fighting, classics Kaijus monsters beat the hell at each other, alien invasion, and cities getting destroy around the world is the perfect recipe for a mexican like me
James. I have watched the entire GODZILLATHON and my god you did a damn well job in getting me in the mood for more of the BIG G. Thanks for getting me even more obsessed with the franchise. Be looking for those DVD’S now.
It doesn’t end there. He’s also in a string of coffee commercial alongside MLB player Hideki Matsui (whose nickname happens to be Godzilla). If I remember, Matsui had some cameos in the Millenium era movies. Needless to say, its proof that celebrity endorsements work because I drink Kirin Fire brand coffee simply because Godzilla was in the commercials. I haven’t watched any TV recently so I don’t know if the commercials are still on or not but I crapped my pants the first time I saw it.
SAYONARA!!! Your reviews are always so informative and there’s a lot of love evident in your writing of these films. I’ve only seen a handful of these Godzillas but I might want to see more now. Thanks!
Hey, thanks to you James, I’ve seen the whole Godzillathon ! And yes, I mean the 28 movies, finally ! Thanks for making me discover this, I knew what Godzilla was, but I was totally unaware that it was such a big and awesome franchise.
Here’s my top 10 :
N°10 – King Kong vs. Godzilla
N°09 – Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla (1974)
N°08 – Mothra vs. Godzilla (1964)
N°07 – Godzilla vs. Biollante
N°06 – Godzilla vs. Destroyah
N°05 – Ghidorah, the Three-Headed Monster
N°04 – GMT: Giant Monsters All-Out Attack
N°03 – Godzilla (1954)
N°02 – Godzilla vs King Ghidorah
N°01 – Godzilla : Final Wars
As you can see, the crazier it is, the more I like it, and Godzilla Final Wars, to me, is clearly one of the best movies of its kind I’ve ever seen, right next to Brain Dead (Dead Alive) in another genre.
That IMAX one never really materialized. I loved Final Wars for one reason, for the most part Godzilla kicked all the other monsters asses. I also love the music when the fight turns back to Godzilla’s favor while battling Gidorah.
