Nick Adams was an interesting icon of American film history.

He was incredibly tenacious. He grew up poor and, destitute, in New Jersey. He thumbed to L.A. as a teen, determined to make it in the movies.

    That’s exactly what he did.

A classic tale of the American Dream.

He ended up being very close friends with Elvis Presley, and James Dean. He had his own T.V. series called “The Rebel”, and was a supporting actor in a lot of big movies like “Picnic”. His life was a true rags, to riches story, and he was once quoted as saying he would never do a film abroad. He was very, very close to being on top of the world.

So, how in the world did he end up in a low budget Japanese Godzilla movie?

You tell me? Something went South. Deep South. There’s rumors of him being gay,, having affairs with Dean, and Presley?,,, I don’t buy it.

He supposedly did have an affair with the Japanese woman who played the leader of Planet X in this film. I DO buy that.

He died in 1968, at age 36 of a drug overdose.

    What the hell?

    Nick Adams. Rest in Peace.
