Pretty cool. I was thinking if you did put Bullet in there or not.
As #3 I like it.
Steve McQueen was not only a tough SOB with few words, but he was actually a real rider as well with him actually driving through the 60′s San Francisco city.
Yes all the license plates was black at the time lol.
Good movie.
The first half of Death Proof was a shitload of fuck. That second half and the car battle was the best, and should have been the only, part of that movie.
I agree. Death proof is definetly the most kick ass car chase, but im a little bit surprised that u left out the chase in terminator 3. Mabye its not like the classics, but it shows what modern day technology and special effects people are capable of these days. Anyway great video James!
That Blue’s Brothers chase through the mall and later when they drop the car are amazing.
Though Bad Boys 2 has no shortage of critics I still love the car chase in that movie. How do you top using cars as projectiles to take down cops? Rumor has it that they were forced to cutback on the amount of extras in the film since they went so overbudget destroying vehicles.
Also I loved the car chases in Terminator 2, The Rock, Raiders of the Lost Arc and Batman Begins (they created an entire section of a city just for that scene!) but it’s tough fitting so many great scenes in just 10 spots.
Awesome video, James! It’s because of this I decided to see “Duel” for the 1st time, and I must say, I loved it. And it’s been awhile, but I had forgotten how good the chase scene in The Blues Brothers was. Thanks for making this.
It’s strange that there isn’t Ronin and Vanisning Point chases in top 10 and 1st place… Have you heard about “Gone in 60 seconds” 1974, James? There was a 40-minutes fucking awesome and best ever made car chase, it’s so epic that this “Death Proof-s” looks like shit. =)
Well a lot of that top ten would also be in my top ten apart from about 3 or 4 others i would’ve liked put in.
The shocking thing here is that there was one film that should have been number 1 without a doubt and that is:
You put Ronin in at the beginning making me think it was going to be on the list, instead you put It’s a mad mad mad mad World in there? C’mon James! Also was disappointed to not see one of the most awesome car chases of recent cinema: The Bourne Identity. The first movie, wrecking around with that mini cooper that pulls to the left on handling, police motorcycles crashing into other cars and breaking through glass. Normally I would say I hate techno music, but the music in that scene seemed to fit well.
How does Death Proof get a number one spot and Vanishing Point not even get mentioned? A huge part of the appeal of that movie was the use of one of the most legendary car chase cars ever, the 1970 Dodge Challenger. If it had been like a Torino or a Fury or something, gone would have been the nostalgia exploitation that the movie’s second half relies on. I don’t know, I just feel you gave Tarantino a lot of credit that should have been given to Richard Sarafian.
I’m disappointed you didn’t mention “The Chase” (the one with Charlie Sheen) – the whole movie is based around one long police chase.
Some people may prefer to forget it, but I remember it as a classic flick from the 90′s. It has one of my all-time favorite movie quotes, and a lot of good things going for it.

Duel is classic!
I wonder if you should do a James Bond month dedicated to the film series because that would be great!

I totally agree with Death Proof having the best car chase ever.
In fact, Death Proof is my all time favorite movie!

Lol, when I was watching this in the beggining I was thinking of Duel, and you put it in. That certainly an ominous movie. With a good ending too.

In my opinion, the matrix reloaded should have been up there, but I guess that’s why it’s your list, not mine.
