I see where Microsoft got the idea of a battery pack from for the X360. It's crap imo compare to the dualshock3, it has no standard usb-port to charge it and my fingers gets stiff after a few hours (because my fingers laying against the battery pack)... well it's not as crappy as the VB, but It's hard to think that the x360 battery pack is a successor from something in the past.

Actually, from what I can tell from watching some gameplay footage of the 3ds, it doesn't really look all that 3d to me...maybe you have to see it in person. Also, the 3d concept isn't the same as the virtual reality concept. VR was supposed to be immersive environments, able to turn your head and still be inside the environment, whereas 3d is just 3d graphics that seem to pop out of a 2d surface.

I wish I had a virtual boy. I really would like to try this video game system. It's funny watching this video when he says that nobody cares about virtual reality anymore and now we have the Nintendo 3DS. But of course, both systems came from the same company ;)

In which case it's somewhat sadder that the 3DS is also becoming something of a flop for Nintendo thus far.

Interesting also that the 3DS also causes headaches.

I feel the need to say, the AVGN, being so intune with the gaming world, already knows about the 3DS.

It's not like he lives somewhere like Lancaster, Pennsylvania.

This is just another case of Nintendo experimenting with concepts and having it fail, and then when the appropriate technology comes along, you use the new technology and turn it into something great. Like the 3DS. Actually, the 3DS is pretty much the reincarnation of the Virtual Boy.

There is a tragic tale behind the Virtual Boy though, the man responsible behind it was named Gunpei Yokoi. If you don't know him, you should. Not only was he Miyamoto's mentor, but he created the gameboy and game and watch. Huge success that live on today. Lots of things that were developed in the past (power glove, virtual boy) that later on when the technology was right became great future consoles (Wii, 3DS). Unfortunately, he died in a car crash a year after he resigned from Nintendo after the Virtual Boy was a flop and he was outcasted. However, the Virtual Boy wasn't even finished when it was released, it was a prototype and he was forced to release it for the holiday season.

The Virtual Boy in its current state is a piece of crap. However, if you look at the 3DS as a successor to the Virtual Boy. You may see what Gunpei Yokoi envisioned the Virtual Boy to be.

Some guy brought one of these pieces of ass in to the pawn shop on the History Channel show "Pawn Stars." They actually got the Old Man to play it.

I sent you "Jax Bros", I wish at some point you'd mention in another AVGN that you have it, and maybe show 4 -10 seconds of footage.

From what I hear, that game is the best the VB had to offer so I think it may be worth playing.

I hardly remember this as a kid, but I'm sure it would have been a let down! On a happy Virual Boy note, there is a ton of homebrew games created for it, including Mario Kart: Virual Boy! At least it has that going for it!

I never heard of the Virtual Boy when it first came out, and I'll be forever greatfull of that.

The graphics remind me of "Tron," but if it was rated R because of the amount of red.

I gotta say That the Virtual Boy was one of t he biggest dissapointments of my youth.At least Nintendo is making up for it with the 3DS...hopefully

Jack Bros isn't -that- expensive. About the price of a regular game. It's probably not that bad either, as it's from the Megami Tensei line.

they should remake the decent ones like the wario game and give them to you when you buy the 3ds.

i remember when i was little i had a virtual boy, me and my bro would play tennis, it was the shit! we played a little wario (somehow a friend had one too and wario) but we loved tennis, stupid step-dad we think sold it cause we can't find it... what an idiot, coulda made lots of money or kept it....

I remember waqnting this piece of shit when I was about 8 or 9. Why?? Because I had a Gamboy and gameboy color and I wanted everything nintendo made. I didn't know better. I also had the game gear .

the only 2 bad games are red alarm and waterworld. the other games look decent, some actually look cool. i think ill add this to my collection.

this was also my first avgn video. i have an even bigger collection than avgn FOR REAL and im only 10 years old!

oMg! everything is so red. whole video was so red. my eyes are in pain now! if i would play this thing in real, i think, that my head would explode.
and yeah, this is not a virtual reality, this is just a poor try to imitate 3D texturing.
wow, by watching these videos, sometimes i'm coming to conclusion that people, who founding and creating consoles, have nothing even far close to the gaming experience. it just fucking looks like people, who creating consoles are 74 year old train station engineers.

I hope for James' 100th episode that he could review the history of the handheld market! From the original GameBoy all the way up to the Nintendo DS!!!

I have to admit that Nintendo has dominated the handheld market for over 20 years!!! Yeah, they did have a failure on their hands (Virtual Boy) but you have to give Nintendo credit, they're learning from their mistake and the 3DS will be a hell of a lot better than the Virtual Boy!

Nice video! This is a 3D console? But Nintendo make an successor of Nintendo DS and DSi is, Nintendo 3DS. It has a backward compatible of DS and DSi games and it has a 3D than Virtual Boy and will be great graphics like PSP (today is a shitty now because of PSP go)
