I can still think of one bad guy who tops all of these: Kurgan from Highlander. Just listen to his voice, and the way he laughs! And the scene where he threatens the guy at the hotel: “Don’t ever speak to me again. Do you understand?” You don’t fuck with that! Then there’s the part after he kills Castigier, where he steals that old couple’s car; he slices off the top with his sword, grabs the old man by the collar and throws him out, and then gets in, heckles the old lady, and takes off driving like a madman! He’s awesome!

    • February 3, 2013 at 1:40 pm

I agree but Clarence Boddicker from RoboCop was also one of the BEST villains of all time as well! He should be #2.

I think i agree with him about biff. Hes honestly one of the baddest badguys thought up. you just love to hate him.

Awesome picks. I like how you managed to keep them all similarly themed. With so many types of badass bad guys it had to be hard to narrow the list without jumping all over the place. Your knowledge of movies and games never ceases to amaze, James. One day, if you haven’t already, it would be awesome for you to have a meet-and-greet, you have to be one hell of a guy to spend an afternoon with. A true icon for all us nerds.

Would never have the of Joe Pilato as Cpt. Rhodes, great choice and one of my top 3 movies… feel so embarrassed.

You forgot Alan RicKman though – NO NOT IN HARRY POTTER – in Prince of Thieves, such lines as:

“No more scraps for the poor, no more merciful beheadings….and ban Christmas”

Or on stabbing Guy of Guisbourne:

“Take heart cousin I could’ve used a spoon”

Rumour has it he was so scene stealingly evil Costner had a lot of his scenes deleted that were never restored…Bad ASS

  • July 12, 2010 at 10:10 am

I LOVE THAT YOU PICKED CAPT RHODES!!! THANK YOU. i didn’t even think of him until you said his name and all i could do was nod my head over and over

James, I know this is strictly your opinion, but I think some of these villains aren’t really THAT badass.
I mean, Caeser Romero’s Joker was the campiest villain ever. I thought that you’d put Heath Ledger’s Joker on here, or at least Jack Nicholson’s Joker on here, but Romero? That’s really suprising.
Also, Nuclear Man from Superman 4 isn’t really that badass either. I mean, if any villain from the Superman films was to be on this list, I thought you would’ve put General Zod or Lex Luthor…maybe not Lex Luthor actually.
Anyway, just out of fun, I’m gonna put my Top 10 Best Villlains on here.

    10. Black Adam from Capt. Marvel (Like Nuclear Man, but more evil)
    9. Dr. Griffin from The Invisible Man (High on evil, and high on nostalgia)
    8. Jason Voorhees from Friday the 13th (YOU DON’T F**K WITH JASON)
    7. Loki from the Thor comics (Like a Bond villain, with magic powers)
    6. Count Dracula from Bram Stoker’s Dracula (Gary Oldman IS Dracula)
    5. Scarecrow from the Batman comics (Better than the Joker by far!)
    4. Sylar from Heroes (Superpowered serial killer…nuff said)
    3. Emperor Palpatine from Star Wars (Like an Yoda, but evil)
    2. Predator from Predator (Like an alien Schwarzenegger with lazers)
    1. Darth Vader from Star Wars (Best voice, best costume, best powers)

  • PhantomSpaceman

    August 29, 2010 at 12:53 pm

Why was Darth Vader not on this list? Why was Lex Luthor not on this list (Nuclear Man…really)? Where was Hannibal Lector? How about Bill from Kill Bill? I’ll accept that you did this list for humor’s sake, but some of the guys on this list could never be on a serious list of top ten bad guys.

  • venom 51007

    August 30, 2010 at 7:55 am

Yeah james why isn’t darth vader on there or scarecrow and why i said scarecrow is because on your bat-a-thon part 3 vid u said he was your fav villain but why not put scarecrow on there i like scarecrow to he’s awesome but darth vader he’s badass.

I can see why some people don’t really get these choices. These ‘bad guys’ are more close to the word ‘bad’ than ‘evil’ ‘wicked’ ‘brutal’ ‘diabolical’ etc. They are more ‘villians’ by the definiton of ‘the main bad character’ of the piece, rather than just being ‘villains’ with pure evilness as a character overall. Well, of course there are definately more widely known hardcore bad guys out there, but these characters are undoubtedly BAD.
… and that was my response. I had to share the thought.

    bottom line, very interesting list.

Nah i’m just kidding heres my real top ten
10 Darth maul (from star wars ep 1)
09 the mummy (from both mummy and mummy returns)
07 joker (from the tim burton batman film and the DARK KNIGHT)
06 count dooku (from star wars ep II and III)
    05 Megatron (transformers 2007)
    04 shreddar (from TMNT 1and 2 )
    03 broly (from DBZ )
    02 PREDATOR (from PREDATOR 1987)
01 JASON VOORHEES ( from FRIDAY THE 13TH PARTS 2-vs) i don’t like part 5 goes to hell i still have mixed feelings jason x was a** vs was and the remake was incredable I know some people think it wasn’t that good and it was okay but i love the remake.

Gozer The Gozerian: Are you a god?
    Ray: No.
    Gozer: Then Die!!
*Ray, Egon, Winston and Venkman get knocked back*
Winston: Ray, when someone asks you if you’re a god, Say yes!

    September 24, 2010 at 11:12 pm

Hm. I think the point of this list was not to find the most badass villains, nor the most likable, but rather, the villains you enjoy hating. Biff is so easy to hate, isn’t he? Always just a stupid dick. On the other hand, Vader is badass, so we all like him, and he’s a bit tragic too, so we don’t hate him for being bad.

  • MadHitz

    September 27, 2010 at 11:19 pm

This is an awesome list! When I saw Rocky III as a kid, I absolutely hated Clubber Lang

  • His Assholiness

    October 2, 2010 at 11:29 am

I’d say Roy Batty from Bladerunner is the ultimate baddest bad guy.

  • Schloss Ritter

    October 5, 2010 at 10:45 pm

The guy who plays Biff seems like he’s actually a nice guy in real life from what I’ve seen in interviews. Crispin Glover and Christopher Lloyd are the ones you probably don’t want to meet, ironically.

    November 5, 2010 at 11:20 pm

I always liked T1000 and Shredder (from Turtles 1)

  • November 14, 2010 at 2:16 pm

I love you man, and this was great, but I think it’s your quietest yet! Barely managed 10% of full volume, I really can’t hear this on my laptop speakers, especially with roomba going around.

I’ve never seen anyone post about the volume of your videos, which surprises me, because generally people moan about some real trivial sh!t (maybe everyone else on here are using PC speakers??). But anyway your audio isn’t even close to clipping, I really don’t know why they’re always so quiet?

If you record low and there’s background static when you volume boost, just use a noise reduction effect after, or just try to use noise cancelling techniques during recording 🙂

  • I Love Cookiemonster

    November 14, 2010 at 4:22 pm

Biff, really? He’s just a jackass. But i’m really starting to feel the back to the future theme here. Are you that excited about the new game comming?

My personal favourite would be the Kurgan from Highlander. But Schredder would be a nice addition too. Maybe even Darth Vader but episode 6 en especially the prequels ruined him for me.

  • Mizfit

    November 14, 2010 at 6:24 pm

    I Love Cookiemonster
Dude, if you check the date you will see this video was originally posted back in 2007.
Don’t be hating on Biff, James made a very good point, apart from old Biff no matter what period of time Marty travels through, Biff is an evil asshole.

  • November 14, 2010 at 8:37 pm

You could argue that the “nice Biff” of 1985 is actually still bad, he just doesn’t show it. That Biff was still bad indeed even though he couldn’t show it. He grows up to be old Biff, still maintaining the same personality and has the sinister idea of stealing the Delorian (probably spelled that wrong), going back to his 1955 self (that was the year right?) and giving him the Sports Alminac that he found thrown out. That Biff was just afraid of George because of what happened in high school due to Marty’s intervention, which is just my theory.

Gozer was played by a woman, and dubbed over by another woman. But I believe they were trying to portray him/her as androgynous

    November 15, 2010 at 9:49 pm

It’s all relative to opinion I suppose, but Id have to disagree with almost the whole list, none of them strike me as all that bad. Most have a zero body count, and though crazy, I dont think most would qualify as really psychoticaly bad except Gozer, thats a definite badass.
Mind you if the list was meant as bad but not really evil, then she is the only one Id exclude.

I know this here is considered nit-picking, but I don’t consider half of these guys to be too “bad ass”. These are numbers ten, nine, three, two, and one.

Not that they don’t throw their punches and talk some strong shit, but they just don’t rub off on me as some mother fuckers with whom I shouldn’t fuck (unless it’s Clubber Lang, but he barks more than he bites). So for the hell of it, I’ll just throw out five suggestions for the spots, though not necessarily in order:

The Captain and Father Alexander “the Paladin” Anderson (Hellsing Ultimate)
The Meth Barn Hillbillies (The Marine, with John Cena)
Raymond “the Carpenter” Calitri (Gone in 60 Seconds)
    Williamson (All About the Benjamins)
    King Xerxes (300)

Feel free to accept them or chew them out; whichever makes you happier.

I would like to see a bond villian in the top 10 such as hugo drax, gustav greaves, sanchez, baron samedi, and of course blofeld.

  • Firewall_Philip_Hanan

    October 14, 2011 at 10:45 pm

I never heard of most of these villains, but then again, I’ve never seen most of these films. Honestly, I couldn’t choose a top villain, but my list of the 10 most baddest is:

    T-800 (Terminator)
    T-1000 (Terminator 2)
    Joker (Batman)
    Joker (The Dark Knight)
Darth Vader (Star Wars Episode III-VI)
    Hugo Drax (Moonraker)
    Clubber Lang (Rocky III)
    Chucky (Child’s Play)
Anton Chigurh (No Country For Old Men)
    Simon Phoenix (Demolition Man)

I am watching all your videos for past few days and all of them are great. English isn’t my native language but still it hilarious and entertaining as hell. You are doing great job out there and you have +1 fan.

It would be awesome to see TOP 10 bad ass good guys. Now that would be explosive!

  • Riddler

    October 20, 2011 at 6:43 pm

Ceaser Romaro is the best Joker. I think all the 60’s villains are the best, including the Riddler. I always fel bad for him because he seems so in control, then batman hands his ass to him on a platter. Even the joker is mean to him!

  • GuilhermedeSouza

  • HorazStCruz

I think being bad and being a bully stereotype are different things.
Clarence Boddicker from RoboCop. THAT is one cold-blooded sick motherfucker.

  • stoney_1

    March 26, 2012 at 8:21 am

    Biff!! what a dick! lmao!!

    Biff????? SERIOUSLY?!

  • MajickMike

    August 27, 2012 at 11:15 pm

Capt Rhodes…To this day, I’ve never seen any character in any movie, say the word “Fuck” so well.

  • MajickMike

    August 27, 2012 at 11:19 pm

But yeah, for the most part, this is a great list. Darth Vader not being there, well that kinda makes sense. Darth Vader wasn’t always “bad”, he was a good person who became evil, and in the end, went full circle. All of the people in this list…they were bad from beginning to end.

  • MrBSeanB

    November 25, 2012 at 11:38 pm

I knew biff was going to be on here, but how can you not have the sheriff from o brother where art thou?

  • FrankenPC

    January 21, 2013 at 10:45 pm

This should have been clearly labeled: The most over the tops, cliche, and corny bad guys…of American cinema. I can think of a WHOLE slew of BAD bad guys that are even more over the top: Overdog from Space Hunter: adventures in the Forbidden Zone, The Great Tyrant from Barbarella, Cromwell from the Sword and the Sorcerer. Clearly you didn’t do your homework.

  • martin schuster

    May 1, 2013 at 1:02 pm

Ok, some were really really (the Day of the Dead guy, Biff, the Commando dude). Buuut, I think I have some better ones to add!

    1. Hondo from Romper Stomper (pure evil)
    2. that rasta Dude from Cyborg
    3. Nosh from Eat the Rich. C’mon, this guy is so cool.
    4. Mike Oldfield in Leon
    5. Burke from Aliens (ok this one might be a little obvious)

  • June 15, 2013 at 3:30 am

I agree alot with this list. Oh big fan by the way. I only wish you had included Clarence Boddicker from RoboCop. I gotta say hes bad ass

  • August 20, 2013 at 7:21 am

    Great list!!!

I love Darth Vader and the Terminator from the original ”The Terminator”

  • legolamb

    August 30, 2013 at 7:15 pm

seriously, Biff and the Karate Kid idiots are more badass than Hannibal Lecter, Darth Vader Frank Booth from Bluevelvet, and John Ryder from The Hitcher? Most of these are cartoons. Even the wicked witch would make Biff crap his pants.

  • December 22, 2014 at 5:45 pm

Biff!!! YES!!! At last somebody acknowledges him as one of the greatest villains of all time!! Dude I LOVED your Top ten!!!

  • December 29, 2014 at 1:45 pm

This list is okay, but how could you forget Sho’nuff from ‘The Last Dragon?’ With lines such as, “Who’s the baddest?,” “Am I the baddest mofo low down around this town?” and “Who’s the Master?” this guy definitely deserves to be on the list of baddest bad guys.
