I recently got a chance to check out the first Evil Dead via Netflix Instant Stream and I liked it. I’m sure the series looks entertaining and awesome and they’re definitely worth checking out!
Evil Dead 2 was supposed to be sequel, however I feel that in trying to be scary, it just appears ‘stupid’. Now this isn’t to say that the movie is stupid.. okay, yeah, it is… but if you take it into perspective, I think it was “supposed” to be that way.
Over the top to try and trump the first movie. Now “Army of Darkness” which is, chronologically “Evil Dead 3″, however it wasn’t officially titled “Evil Dead 3: Army of Darkness” so right there is a screw with the numbering of sequels… ehem.. anyway I got off track.
I suppose the point is, “Evil Dead 2″ is a sequel, but don’t expect to be ‘scared’, more so entertained. It’s worth watching “Army of Darkness” just for the slapstick value.
These movies are just flat out fun. But I wouldn’t let the physical slapstick or the trademark humor overshadow the creepy atmosphere and weird perspectives.
Have a few beers and watch these with your buddies, but give them nother look when you’re on your own – preferably a rainy, windy night in October. It’s two totally different film experiences.
I’ve never been a fan of Raimi’s work. Evil Dead (and the sequels), are mediocre at best in almost all departments, but Raimi does do some good camera work. Drag Me to Hell just felt like another Evil Dead movie so that gives no respect immediately. The Spiderman movies? They were just a series of fuck ups.
The Evil Dead movies & Braindead, to me, they are the best movies ever made, all the blood & gore.. all the “WTF? stuff” .. the effects on the monsters & such wich you cant get with computer animated, and Ofcourse.. The Humor! Great James, that ya like the third movie, i soo love it.. alltho most of the ppl ive told to check it they dont like it..
I watched the first one as a kid and I was disturbed and admired, Now I´m a fan of the whole trilogy, waiting for the fourth. Will it be good? I don´t know, but I know the fanbase is willing to take the risk to find out.
i tryed finding something for EVIL DEAD IV but it said that it wasn’t happening but if they make another one wouldn’t that be ARMY OF DARKNESS II instead of evil dead 4 this is why people make fake trailers like ALIEN V coming in 2010 well its 2010 now and no news of alien 5 yet so no alien 5 its just to get peoples hopes up for a movie thats not even coming out so why are people doing this its so crappy well at least it was true that they were making predator3 (or PREDATORS as its called now) .
The first Evil Dead is pretty good, for being low budget and all. EDII, however, strikes me as a comedy more tahn anything else, but si still enjoyable. AoD on the other hand, just bored me half-way through. I still dinished it, but I found it more boring than anything else.
ì love the first 2 i actually jumped a couple of times which rareley happens witth new horror films the third one is ok i did laugh but i think that people didnt expect a complete comedy
I watched this when I was in living in a cabin, just one room on 12 acres of lakefront in the middle of absolute nowhere, everything was pitch black and it was just me and my dog. This shit scared the hell out of me, it was freaking awesome. Watched both Evil Dead movies back-to-back, then I had to watch Army of Darkness for a little relief.
This another film that I saw at an early age, but this one didn’t scare me, and I don’t think it’s intended to be scary. But the effects, and gore of this film are fuckign AMAZING! Savini is GOD!
There was nothing like this before, and there hasn’t been anything like it since, Thank God.
I just picked up Army of Darkness today in Best Buy, but I can’t find Evil Dead or Evil Dead II. I saw Evil Dead in Walmart, but it was on Blu-ray which I don’t have. If you are going to sell a series sell the WHOLE SERIES! This goes for the Halloween movies and Friday the 13th movies as well. Can’t find all of those!
ive never seen the first evil dead movie and watched the series backwards but i really liked the evil dead movies its chilling atmosphere in the second one and the comedy in the third one.

Within The Woods is a prequel to The Evil Dead. Incredibly rare.
There is a pretty bad VHS quality rip kicking about on the net.
