I recently got a chance to check out the first Evil Dead via Netflix Instant Stream and I liked it. I’m sure the series looks entertaining and awesome and they’re definitely worth checking out!
Evil Dead 2 was supposed to be sequel, however I feel that in trying to be scary, it just appears ‘stupid’. Now this isn’t to say that the movie is stupid.. okay, yeah, it is… but if you take it into perspective, I think it was “supposed” to be that way.
Over the top to try and trump the first movie. Now “Army of Darkness” which is, chronologically “Evil Dead 3″, however it wasn’t officially titled “Evil Dead 3: Army of Darkness” so right there is a screw with the numbering of sequels… ehem.. anyway I got off track.
I suppose the point is, “Evil Dead 2″ is a sequel, but don’t expect to be ‘scared’, more so entertained. It’s worth watching “Army of Darkness” just for the slapstick value.
These movies are just flat out fun. But I wouldn’t let the physical slapstick or the trademark humor overshadow the creepy atmosphere and weird perspectives.
Have a few beers and watch these with your buddies, but give them nother look when you’re on your own – preferably a rainy, windy night in October. It’s two totally different film experiences.
I’ve never been a fan of Raimi’s work. Evil Dead (and the sequels), are mediocre at best in almost all departments, but Raimi does do some good camera work. Drag Me to Hell just felt like another Evil Dead movie so that gives no respect immediately. The Spiderman movies? They were just a series of fuck ups.
The Evil Dead movies & Braindead, to me, they are the best movies ever made, all the blood & gore.. all the “WTF? stuff” .. the effects on the monsters & such wich you cant get with computer animated, and Ofcourse.. The Humor! Great James, that ya like the third movie, i soo love it.. alltho most of the ppl ive told to check it they dont like it..
I watched the first one as a kid and I was disturbed and admired, Now I´m a fan of the whole trilogy, waiting for the fourth. Will it be good? I don´t know, but I know the fanbase is willing to take the risk to find out.
i tryed finding something for EVIL DEAD IV but it said that it wasn’t happening but if they make another one wouldn’t that be ARMY OF DARKNESS II instead of evil dead 4 this is why people make fake trailers like ALIEN V coming in 2010 well its 2010 now and no news of alien 5 yet so no alien 5 its just to get peoples hopes up for a movie thats not even coming out so why are people doing this its so crappy well at least it was true that they were making predator3 (or PREDATORS as its called now) .
The first Evil Dead is pretty good, for being low budget and all. EDII, however, strikes me as a comedy more tahn anything else, but si still enjoyable. AoD on the other hand, just bored me half-way through. I still dinished it, but I found it more boring than anything else.
ì love the first 2 i actually jumped a couple of times which rareley happens witth new horror films the third one is ok i did laugh but i think that people didnt expect a complete comedy
I watched this when I was in living in a cabin, just one room on 12 acres of lakefront in the middle of absolute nowhere, everything was pitch black and it was just me and my dog. This shit scared the hell out of me, it was freaking awesome. Watched both Evil Dead movies back-to-back, then I had to watch Army of Darkness for a little relief.
This another film that I saw at an early age, but this one didn’t scare me, and I don’t think it’s intended to be scary. But the effects, and gore of this film are fuckign AMAZING! Savini is GOD!
There was nothing like this before, and there hasn’t been anything like it since, Thank God.
I just picked up Army of Darkness today in Best Buy, but I can’t find Evil Dead or Evil Dead II. I saw Evil Dead in Walmart, but it was on Blu-ray which I don’t have. If you are going to sell a series sell the WHOLE SERIES! This goes for the Halloween movies and Friday the 13th movies as well. Can’t find all of those!
ive never seen the first evil dead movie and watched the series backwards but i really liked the evil dead movies its chilling atmosphere in the second one and the comedy in the third one.
Wow, I thought the games were just random zombie-ish horror/action games (although I’ve never played them). Now that I’ve seen the history behind them, I’m definitely interested in seeing the movies. Thanks for the review, I now have something new to occupy my time
Love the evil dead. But i never did understand why in part 2 its like ash was never there the first time. its like part 1 never happened. but oh well. dam good movies anyway.
I love the Evil Dead trilogy. I was confused as a kid as well when I saw Evil Dead and Evil Dead 2. It’s like, wait, you mean Ash is going BACK to that cabin, is he an idiot? And…well…yes he is an idiot. At least, that’s what the commentary by Sam Raimi and Bruce Campbell said. It wasn’t really addressed directly in the films, but the fact that Ash is kind of an idiot about 90% of the time, and an ultra-heroic bad-ass about 10% of the time in the rest of the films, it makes perfect sense that he would go back to that cabin in the woods. I highly recommend to anyone to watch it with the commentary, Sam Raimi and Bruce Campbell have great comedic chemistry together.
There was a ninja turtle in the third movie. No really, they dirtied up one of the original costumes and used it for one of the deadites during the deadite charge. If you look for it and find it you can see its still wearing a bandanna, but you can’t tell witch turtle they used.
The first PS2 game is arguably the worst PS2 game i’ve ever played. Too fucking bad. As a kid, I watched the Army of Darkness movie with my elder cousins and their friends, same people that introduced me to Gn’R when i was like 7 years old..
Those fucking cool moments you realize is great to have a big family.
Is there a remastered version of these movies?
Remember watching these in the VHS age. Can’t say that it’s full bad. Only thing that make it bad is the gun in 1 and 2. In the first one he had a 410ga shotgun one shot then it get the 12ga shotgun two shot. Only reason I know the first movie had a 410ga is because I used to have a 410ga that look the same. Other then that isn’t bad a movie.
Remake’s coming, looks like shit. No recognizable actors and it looks like they mixed 1 and 2 together. That and it shows one of the girls cutting her hand off and Ash looks like a pansy. Not happy one bit.
I happen to live by the theater where the first evil dead movie was shown for the first time. I know that probably no one cares, but I just like telling people

Within The Woods is a prequel to The Evil Dead. Incredibly rare.
There is a pretty bad VHS quality rip kicking about on the net.
October 31, 2010 at 7:01 pm
Saw Army Of Darkness today on SyFy, i still prefer the first two, AOD looked more like a action comedy than a horror movie….
November 2, 2010 at 5:23 am
This and the 2nd one are the 2 creepiest movies I have ever seen. To this day it gives me nightmares.
December 31, 2010 at 11:23 pm
I LOVE the Evil Dead series. Ever since I first saw it years ago, I have yet to finish it.

July 18, 2011 at 8:39 pm
There’s not going to be Evil Dead 4 but a crappy remake of the first one! You know why its going to be crap? Because its all CGI and not stop motion.
August 25, 2011 at 3:10 pm
I loooooove these films! Those lines in Army of Darkness are so good, you’ll find yourself quoting them to your girlfriend/colleague/friend
September 8, 2011 at 5:05 am

You know what’s happened since this video was made? Freddy vs Jason vs Ash, Marvel Zombies vs Army of Darkness and a bunch of other comic books.
October 17, 2011 at 7:10 pm

September 6, 2012 at 3:39 am
The entire trilogy is awesome but if I had to pick a favorite it would be 2.

Curious to see what your thoughts of the remake are. Hopefully you’ll have time to talk about it in the near future!
May 8, 2013 at 11:51 am
Awesome! Can you review the remake of evil dead from 2013. It´s the best horror movie remake I ever seen and I think you will not be dissapointed!
