Festers Quest

The other Addams Family game is quite playable, the SNES version at least, it reminds me of some Mario Bros series' elements, not that bad. Fester's quest though, it's just fucking unplayable.

Fester's Quest scared the crap out of me when I was a kid, but my brother loved it. We still have this game to this day.

In the intro to this video, I see james with a neo-geo game, weighing it on a scale...I've never seen that episode...anyone else? Is that an extra only on his DVD's, or what?

Recently, I watched James' review of TMNT3 The Movie.
Today, James debuted his "Making a AVGN Episode" video. So now, I have an understanding (and appreciation) of how much work goes into these game reviews.
In this review of Fester's Quest, James dresses up as each member of The Addams' Family. That means he shoots himself dressed as (for example) Gomez, then changes costume and shoots himself again as, say, Lurch. Then he edits each seperate image into the frame to create the illusion that there are 8 different people in the shot. That's a staggering amount of work!
Also in this review, James asks, "Who were you expecting...The Ninja Turtles?". In the TMNT3 movie, Donatello asks, "Who were you expecting...The Addams Family?" I finally get the joke.

James, when you shout "FUCK" dressed like Wednesday...it's stone-cold hilarious!

One of the best episodes yet! By the way, James looks nice with that mustache!

My cousin gifted me Fester Quest and Monster Party ... It was because his Nes broken... now i know why,

BTW i didn't liked monster party back then, but now i really like that game, is obscure on every point .worth a review.

I disagree. fester's quest may be friggin' hard, but once you get used to it, it's really fun.
the red "gun" pickups are downgrades(the same goes for the whips, once you have them), so ignore them.
If you want a real challenge, try playing fester's quest on a black and white tv. (it was the only one that our nes would hook up to) the red guns and blue guns are basically the same shade(red appears slightly darker)
you can get energy from hotdog carts. just use your money.

I surprised that no one mentioned Blaster Master. That game was popular, and it's so fucking similar. Pop that shit in and take a look. Same sound, enemies and gun.

I just played the Genesis Addams Family game and I have to admit, I've played worse games. However, it is extremely frustrating. Especially when you get a weapon, it's like "Wow. I actually can use something in this game?" but then as soon as you get hit, you lose it. WTF?! And the jumping is as imprecise as you said.

I love AVGN! I've been watching ever since my friend Don showed me the Friday the 13th episode on YouTube 4 years ago. Thanks for all the great content, James!

Bahaha, I remember as a little kid, beating the first boss and saying the same thing to myself, about beating the game.
Refused to play any further than that for some reason which I can't remember anymore. I think that I was tired of continuing at the start of the game when dying in the sewers...?
The game -was- fun, though, it actually felt nice when you could land shots on targets.

I love the TMNT 3 refference.

Fester in this game is slower that a turtle, and I don't mean the teenage mutant ninja kind.

The hallways are like the cabins in the Friday the 13th game.

Yeah so two hours ago i beat this game after watching this review. This shit use to make me wanna snap my controller into many pieces. now i c it for the steaming pile it really is.....u know the last lvl is on the spaceship? well u collect clues the whole time to figure out u need to get to the space ship....... THE START OF THE GAME SHOWS YOU THAT SHIT!!!! o what a fuck you to the slim number of people who finished this game....and o yeah everyone stands around uncle fester pumping there fist. i guess its better then that ghostbusters game that just ends when u get the fourth person to finish the last lvl, huh?

I love this episode. Any chance for a review of Gilligan's Island on NES? The game sucked, plus it would give you a chance to maybe have Kyle Justin do a song like he did for this and Spider-Man, assuming you wanted one and assuming he wanted to do it. Because damn, those songs are great.

Another thing thats weird about the second Addams Family game is that when you play as Gomez, it's the fuckin old Gomez from the black and white show... So why are the paintings in the background Raul Julia from the movies...?? Hmmm..

You know i have this game and i never bothered playing it...i guess i'm gonna have to burn the game and all the stuff like the poster and manual and shit.

After all these years and I have been following the vids since 2006 I think already... I just have to comment now on this one! I had this game on my NES as a kid and... My big sister actually beat the game, I don't know exactly how but she could do it in the end... Now that I have seen how hard this can be, I really wonder how she did it!

Couple years ago I was on vacation in Indiana. I went into this video game store. It was pretty cool. Everything was green. I think they were dedicated xbox. Anyway I Bought 3 Final Fantasy II (4), Final Fantasy III (6) and Fester Quest. The guy told Me I can Fester Quest for free. Now I know I why. The Game Suck and I didn't know at the time.

WOW! were you expecting the ninja turtles?, that's so clever!!! I laughed that one for a long time! I never played that game and now that I saw that video I never will :)
