the only way i can see that touching a wall you die is if everything was faster and the speed we see it is in slowmotion like everything is fast as bullets and its in slowmotion (and you r fast 2) then you die by chashing into the wall >:(

The game itself is kind of fun, but you need to spend HOURS memorizing everything. Even then, you have it down so much it loses it’s appeal.

I find curious how the programmers were apparently trying to add some comic relief to the game, like the little rubber duck and the sad jack-o-lantern getting stabed.
I love that part where the Nerd does the same defeat pose as Silver Surfer, and the angry rant
Gotta love that in most episodes there’s always a comment or two claiming that “this is by far the best episode” or something like that. A true testament to James’ talent

Just beat the game. No emulator, no cheats. Just a regular NES with a turbo controller (the FourScore’s turbo feature, to be exact). Took me 1h15 and 3 or 4 continues. The last boss was at least SOME challenge compared to most of the other bosses (some of these should be in the top 10 easiest video game bosses).
Maybe it helped that I live in Europe (50Hz) and there was no speed corrected port of Silver Surfer here so it played at 5/6 the speed (just a little slower).
Btw the ending suckt balls. You get some dialog which you can’t cancel (and takes ages) and then you see the Silver Surfer Logo (same as on title screen) with just “THE END” below and a (lame) spiral of stars in the background.
Watching your own shots helps a lot detecting walls. It’s so unclear at what is background and what is foreground. What were they thinking!?

and the superior PAL color system makes it much easier distinguishing between enemy projectiles and the background (see 3:08) they are actually bright orange. Also, tube TVs rule.

The Silver Surfer is my favorite super hero of all time. This review is completely on point. This video made me laugh so hard I was crying! I remember how incredibly hard it was way back when. I don’t think I’m brave enough to give it a try now.

James did fairly well playing it, he got to the second stages of areas…I watched this one person on Youtube play it and they couldn’t make it passed the first level in any of the stages. In fact they did not progress very far at all once the stage started usually dying in the first wave of enemies.

Every controller I had as a child had teeth marks in it because of this game. I use to love trying to beat this bitch though. It was kinda like what ghosts and goblins is to everyone else to me. I even use to use a game genie so that you were invincible but it didn’t work for the walls so i’d still flip the fuck out over it. I never beat it….i think i might just go try for the next hour and a half. No cheat codes, no save states, just you and me galactus you son of a bitch.
