James, I can identify with your disappointment in this movie. Watching this move after loving the first 2 so much, was like Shredder emptying the contents of his asshole on my face.
April 12, 2010 at 4:56 pm
haven’t seen it yet but saw the first one. also have the 25th anniversary dvds so i’ll probably watch it
April 16, 2010 at 10:03 am
I do remember watching the cartoon series at such a young age that I don’t remember every episode! It’s like a part of my childhood was erased from existence!
April 16, 2010 at 9:55 pm
hey james i found something very interestling. when your talking about the splinter puppet i decide to look it up and i found this website that has pictures of the pre mutant splinter in the first teenage mutant ninja turtles movie.

enjoy james

April 22, 2010 at 2:40 am
and by the way, i was in Wal Mart and i saw a bundle that had the original 3 movies and the 2007 CGI one as well, and the third one for some reason was call Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles III : Turtles in Time. that was the 1st time i ever saw that
May 10, 2010 at 2:54 pm
Amazing series James, Funny here in the UK and Ireland TMNT Was changed to Teenage Mutant Hero Turtles because “Ninja” was apparently too violent..
May 14, 2010 at 5:59 am
Oh my God you put April action figure in a rape position o.o
I never watched any of the movies (because I never understood why the movies had to be played by people.. why didn’t they make CARTOON MOVIE?! o.o) I watched the Cartoon series and oh we had some of those action figures too.
@Natonstan, I think TMNT was TMHT all around the Europe, I haven’t seen any TMNTintro version in Europe (though here in Finland they were translated as “Teini-ikäiset mutanttininjakilpikonnat” = Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, but it wasn’t the title)
May 25, 2010 at 5:02 pm
i remember when that movie came out god i was so pumped then that pos was there previous year i even dressed up as a turtle for haloween
June 7, 2010 at 8:05 pm
I’m in total agreement with you having been about the same age at the time. Sadly the movies were based on the original comic and not the cartoon series. There was no Krang, Beebop, or Rocksteady. All 3 characters were made specifically for the cartoon. When the idea of the movie came around I guess the creators wanted it based on their original concepts(which by the way were extremely violent with turtles lopping off heads and killing people). Thats why we got a dark movie and why we had Tokka and Razor instead of Rocksteady and Beebop.
June 13, 2010 at 5:24 am
Manhattan project? Like Duke Nukem-Manhattan Project? What were they thinking!? Hey, look, an Army of Darkness poster in the back
June 18, 2010 at 10:52 am
I thought that no matter how bad it would be, it is turtles.
July 2, 2010 at 2:15 pm
this movie looks like they gave chickens crack and then the chickens made this piece of shit
July 11, 2010 at 9:47 pm
Haha this review is hysterical, but I cant lie, as bad as the movie was, I still have a soft spot for it. Like everybody else, the Turtles were a big time part of my life growing up, I couldnt get enough of them. From toys to Halloween costumes to the movies, if it was the Turtles I was down.
Except that is for the shitty live action show they had out. Now that was pure garbage. What were they thinking????
July 22, 2010 at 10:02 am
Wasn’t this on Youtube once? I’m only asking because the ScrewAttack-player sucks ass. Or it would suck ass if it were fucking working.
September 2, 2010 at 12:52 pm
TMNT III is the first Turtles film I ever saw, and I liked it, then again, I was dead young at the time and I wasn’t a huge TMNT fan either.
Love the review though.
October 20, 2010 at 3:32 pm
I enjoy all the Ninja Turtles films, but this one is an exception. It would have been a worth while threequel if the main villains were Rockstedy and Beebop, and time travel wasn’t involved.
October 24, 2010 at 8:15 am
You know, they’ve actually added the subtitle to this movie as “Turtles in Time”. All new versions of this movie bear the subtitle everywhere except on the main title scree. So much for consistency. But at least they recognize the title as relating to the game somehow, but perhaps that was more of a marketing ploy to promote the Xbox Live Arcade and Playstation Network remake of it..
November 13, 2010 at 8:20 am
Would’ve been awesome if it was set in the future rather than the present or the past, aching more to the cartoon. I would love that.
December 20, 2010 at 2:00 pm
Believe me, I was just as disapointed with the last turtles when I found out it was all going to be done in CG
April 9, 2011 at 7:48 pm
This is one of my favorite reviews. I’m 15 and I loved the reboot TV series of TMNT they used to show on Saturday mornings as a kid. Too bad I wasn’t around during all this Turtle craze
I actually found out that in the 25th Anniversary Blu-Ray Box Set, that contained the first Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie, then Secret of the Ooze, and then this horrible abomination. In this box set, the third one DID have a subtitle, and the subtitle was: Turtles in Time.

For logic purposes, I understand putting “I’m a turtle and I can’t get up” at #1. But honestly, “It’s Star Trek time guys” was the worst. I wanted to punch April in the ovaries when she said that.
The fucked up thing is, I still remember the line “I’m a turtle and I can’t get up” from the trailer as a kid. And when the line came up in the movie, we all laughed like bastards.
June 17, 2011 at 1:50 am
angry nerd is so funny
June 19, 2011 at 12:19 pm
Yo dude! HAHAHAHAHA
June 21, 2011 at 11:23 pm
Thank god you upload both of them in a single video.
I got to say I didn’t grew up with the original game but that movie does haunt me.
Believe it or not looking as far as I can in my memory of my child hood that this was the first one you hit.
I am dead fucking serious I really don’t care much for this movie in fact I wish I didn’t know it exist.
June 25, 2011 at 12:20 pm
oooh shit
July 10, 2011 at 11:02 pm
This review inspired me to watch the original Turtles movie, (which I own on VHS & haven’t seen in years).
It’s 100% better than I remembered, because at the time, my sensibilities rested within the cartoon…(the foot soldiers should be robots, not humans). As a 12yr old, I questioned if the actress who played April was attractive. As a 31yr old, yeah, she’s cool…but I’ve never seen her before or since. It didn’t help she was replaced by another actress beginning with pt.2. This “new” April worked out much better.
The one thing that still drives me crazy about the 1st Ninja Turtles movie is how they abbreviate their names. Leo, Mikey, & Donnie are bad enough, but “Raph” is the equivalant of nails on a chalkboard to me.
In the cartoon, Michaelangelo was intelligent, but the voice actor made him sound like an air-head California surfer. In the movie, I found I could relate to him much more because he spoke with a voice that wasn’t unusal.

YEZ, Yez, juzt az I haz forezeen! MWAHAHAHAHAH!!!!!!!
August 3, 2011 at 4:46 pm

August 7, 2011 at 1:14 pm
1:24 April and Leonardo doing S&M is hysterical!
August 7, 2011 at 1:57 pm
I love seeing James slice that thing.
August 11, 2011 at 3:09 am
Yeah, um… I fully agree that TMNT 3 sucked. However its also one of my most favorite movies. I have a feeling that the writers had something way better planned but the funding was fucked beyond belief. When i saw it in the theater i was hoping for more of Casey Jones. But noo, all you got was him being the babysitter. They didn’t really even need April in it.
August 20, 2011 at 1:07 am
No wonder why vanilla ice’s career when down the drain afterwards.
August 22, 2011 at 2:40 pm
Haha 1:24-1:25.
August 25, 2011 at 12:49 pm
You have a cute laugh.
September 4, 2011 at 11:11 pm
Hammer Time!
September 11, 2011 at 9:41 pm
It would be funny as hell if you rented the movie, try explaining that to blockbuster, or just walk in with a straight face with the shattered movie and say I didn’t rewind it sorry
October 20, 2011 at 7:23 pm
You know, you should do some more “Angry Movie Nerd” type of stuff where you get into ‘nerd mode’ on movies we watched and loved as kids. This was a great vid, and I would love to see you take on more movies as the nerd.
On Turtles 3, I watched every turtles movie in the theaters. I remember the first one being awesome. It was different from the cartoon, sure, but it was also familiar enough that it didn’t really feel like it deviated too much.
The second movie was more toyetic. It got lighter, more comedy, more pop culture references, and less edginess. I remember enjoying the second movie, but not as much as the first (I felt the same way you did about the ending and how it was a let down).
The third movie, oh man, was even MORE toyetic and completely shat out to take advantage of kids. I remember being completely disappointed. I remember my dad asking me if I liked the movie (and the poor guy had to sit through this crap too, mind you) and as a kid, I grew up kinda poor, I didn’t starve or anything, but going to the movies and stuff was a luxury not afforded very often, and when asked I felt so bad about it that I lied and said I liked the movie. I felt bad about wasting my time, his time and money, and I lied and said it was good. Though, in retrospect, I think he knew I was lying.
I haven’t watched turtles 3 ever since that day as a kid, though I’ve watched turtles 2 a couple times when it was on TV, and I own turtles 1 since it was such a great romp, and I have warm nostalgic feelings for it. Turtles 3, on the other hand, is a bad memory and a painful life lesson.
October 21, 2011 at 3:55 am
Cowabunga….. Cow-a-bunch a dick cheese
November 14, 2011 at 5:30 pm
Is it worse than Highlander 2 though?
November 17, 2011 at 2:41 pm
No, I think The Room is the worst movie ever made, but this is pretty damn bad.
December 1, 2011 at 1:22 am
@JamesFlaherty that is a REALLY bad movie there.
November 23, 2011 at 11:37 am
cool review james
November 25, 2011 at 11:48 pm
He said Mike was his favorite turtle, then this should be his favorite movie since its pretty obvious Mike was the main turtle in this one, just as in the first one was Raph and in the second one was Donatello. So bad for us Leo fans we didnt get a 4th movie in which Leonardo could be the main character, he is pretty much absent from the last 2 movies. And no, that shitty 2007 cgi movie doesnt count as the 4th one.
November 30, 2011 at 11:37 pm
Even as a kid, I couldn’t completely watch the third movie all the way. In fact, I’ve NEVER fully seen it, and I fucking LOVE the Turtles.
December 1, 2011 at 1:17 am
First one: great
Second one: good
Third one: HOLYSHITSHITYSHITSHIT WHAT THE FUCK IS THIS NASTY SHIT?
I mean as a moderate turtles fan, I have never watched the third film in its full entirety, but this review will never make me watch this film, what sucks ass is that i own this movie somewhere! WHAT THE HELL!!!!!
James, i feel for you, totally let down by a movie that gave you high expectations (such as what happened to me with Fat Albert, that movie was terrible in my book)
I say that they should make a reboot of the turtles films, Like a whole new turtles film eliminating the events of the 3rd film. Or just a whole new turtles series in general.
the last turtles film i even saw, it has to be the at least better than anything else, is the cartoon uniting EVERY SINGLE TURTLE (NEW, OLD, AND ORIGINAL)

December 11, 2011 at 4:55 pm
Then what’s your opinion on TMNT?
December 13, 2011 at 9:40 am
@Mssnor new one or old one because the origonal was the shit
December 13, 2011 at 6:55 pm
@AVGN Lover I’m talkin about the new TMNT
March 9, 2012 at 3:35 pm
@Mssnor @AVGN I think it was good at some times, especially at the beginning, then it got bad, then a little better, and then it just went downhell, all the way to Hell
March 9, 2012 at 3:36 pm
@Mssnor That is, if you’re talking about the 2003 TV series.
The CG film? Good graphics, but the film just sucks
December 20, 2011 at 7:17 pm
I love this review ! lmao
December 29, 2011 at 9:22 am
i know i hate it too its so bad ever!
January 1, 2012 at 6:35 pm
Yea, it’s bad- way to call it on the splash implosion. But as far as bad animatronic movies go, it’s still not as bad as Howard the Duck.
January 2, 2012 at 10:55 am
And Splinter wasn’t born as a rat. He was human, who mutated under the effect of ooze.
January 18, 2012 at 3:48 pm
@Delevion That was on the TV series. In the comic books he was always a rat.
January 25, 2012 at 1:08 pm
@Delevion In the original cartoon he IS born a rat so you are wrong
January 25, 2012 at 1:09 pm
@Delevion I mean comic book
January 15, 2012 at 6:54 pm
I’ve only seen this movie once, and I didn’t think it was that bad… It sure wasn’t good either though. But anyways, I saw it on Fox a long time ago, and I specifically remember that they always said “TMNT 3: Turtles In Time will be back.” and it even called it “Turtles In Time” in the TV Guide! Way to screw that up guys! I was always under the impression that “Turtles In Time” was indeed the subtitle. Glad to know the truth finally… not like I cared though…
January 16, 2012 at 8:24 pm
Ahhh, such a good review. This movie sucks ass.
February 3, 2012 at 11:56 am
Best quote ever ! IT’S HAMMER TIME !!!
February 6, 2012 at 6:24 pm
That’s pretty much the same way I felt when I saw The Last Airbender.
February 7, 2012 at 9:58 pm
I still have a VHS copy. Haven’t decided its fate yet…
February 8, 2012 at 1:16 am

February 23, 2012 at 7:00 pm
@Kon999 KOOOOOOOOOON!!
February 13, 2012 at 11:00 pm
Nice use of a Connor MacLeod katana to bust that tape up!
February 15, 2012 at 2:57 am
those were some pretty bad lines but i think the worst line ever spoken in a movie has to be from Friday the 13th (2009) when one guy, while having sex with his girlfriend or whatever, says “you got perfect nipple placement baby” hahahaha….and thats after he tells her “your tits are stupendous” which is almost equally as bad….i mean seriously who the fuck says that shit?
February 22, 2012 at 8:07 am
@StAlphonso I do……
February 23, 2012 at 6:17 pm
@EdB @StAlphonso that’s probably the reason why you don’t get laid
February 24, 2012 at 3:08 am
I have to agree, even at the time this was a embarrassment of a ninja turtles movie.
February 27, 2012 at 11:07 pm
Wait a minute. Isn’t that Connor Macleod’s Katana? 5 years this video’s been up and I just noticed.
March 1, 2012 at 5:38 am
I got a copy of this movie for like 99 cents. Lol. I burned it.
March 3, 2012 at 12:04 am
teenage mutant ninja turds
March 9, 2012 at 4:03 pm
Not a Turtles IV, but a reboot
March 27, 2012 at 8:39 pm
Super Shredder had a Super heart attack when getting hit with the beams. Only explanation I can think of.
April 5, 2012 at 11:53 pm
Lets see if Micheal Bay can make it even worse.
April 22, 2012 at 8:58 am
Can I download this episode and how?
May 10, 2012 at 6:48 am
I remember as a kid there was a promotional event for a re-opening of our local video store, the first certain number of people to come in received one of 3 movies as a prize. I stood in line forever on that cold morning early as hell with my brother and mom, and we made the cut or whatever and got to choose between TMNT III, Home Alone 2, and some other shit. I picked turtles of course. When we got home my brother and I were so confused/disgusted/offended/embarassed at the incredible shittyness of TMNT III that we actually went BACK to the video store, and demanded that they allow us to exchange it for Home Alone 2 – which of course was gimmicky too but not bad at all in comparison.
May 24, 2012 at 2:37 am
at the end, nice Katina you have, looks like a Golden Warrior’s Dragon Katina. Wait wait wait, it had the honer to be cut in half by that. Fucked up much with it, eh?
July 3, 2012 at 2:02 pm
I have to say, the worst movie in existence is blade house of chthon
July 4, 2012 at 5:50 am
Usind the Highlander sword to cut Turtles three in half that was cool.
July 14, 2012 at 2:01 pm
Who would win in a fight:Batman vs Shredder
August 4, 2012 at 6:31 am
I Watched this movie, it’s very good and funny, you assholes does not know this movie and previous tmnt movies. this movie is fucking cowabunga perfect!!! X( IDIOTS!!
August 8, 2012 at 1:12 pm
Did you know? TMNT(2007) IS THE 4TH MOVIE!!! Yeah it’s not live action but:on the TMNT Wiki it outright says it’s in the same series. That’s why shredder is dead in the 4th one.
August 17, 2012 at 7:08 pm
I love the review and other stuff he does, and i respect his opinion, but i don’t actually think that Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 3 was bad.. i actually liked it… maybe im just weird.. but I love Japan and Japanese culture and i thought the movie was good when i saw it in theaters when i was real little. oh and Fun fact… Krang actually made a cameo in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2 when Dr. Jordan Perry is destroying the ooze at the TGRI building , Krang’s in the middle of the room, the strange pink shape inside the pyramid shaped structure in the middle of the film. Dr. Perry was suppose to be a Utron and Krang a enemy..but it was scrapped and they stuck the Krang puppet in the room for fun.
September 12, 2012 at 6:12 pm
I watched the first turtles movie in theater about a month back. Man, what an excellent movie. I think me and my older brother were laughing a little too loud in that scene where shredder backhands splinter. Fucking funny.
November 24, 2012 at 7:19 am
It is like the Robocop movies: the first is fairly the best, the second is “watchable” and the third one sucks very very hard!
January 28, 2013 at 7:43 am
This movie go to fucking hell!!!
February 1, 2013 at 5:18 pm
I love TMNT 3 and its one of my fav TMNT movie.
February 6, 2013 at 10:36 pm
You’re right Nerd!
But I remember the first time I saw that movie in the cinema
I was 8 years old, my mother took me and I was so excited!
In the line to get in to the movie, there was a contest with the numer of the ticket, and I win!!!, I could not believe. because I won a t-shirt of the TMNT movie, so… just for that I enjoyed a lot the movie (back then) Now I know its sucks, but also bring me a good memory of the fist thing that I won! hehehe
You´re the best James!
Regards from Mexico City
