Heh, I never had this piece of crap growing up but I was way into punch out so I remember really REALLY wanting it, I mean, you saw the commercials, what could of possibly been more badass that being able to beat punch the shit out of balled bull. Anyway, glad I never got to let this thing plague my childhood with bad memorys, good review.

Don’t know how this ever got off the ground. It’s designed so badly. You can’t even play Super Mario Bros with it. I never had one my folks knew that was a bad idea. Mattel was just trying to capitulate on the awe of it. Smart gamers knew that was way out of the nes’s league due to it’s limitations. Just a quick money making scam like the atari headband, which was supposed to allow you to control your atari games with your head.

In speaking of the Power Glove, I read that Sony made a similar glove acsesory for the PlayStation, and it suffered the same fate. James, do you think it would be possible to find one of these things and do a review on it? ‘Cause, I’m curious on how afful it really is.

i asked for this piece of shit for xmas the first year it was out. when i got it i was so happy that none of my other presents mattered. then i remember exchanging it for a couple of games a few days later (it was like 100 bucks!).
i also remember the sticky velcro things that attached the sensors to the tv and never being able to get them off of the tv. a constant reminder of this abomination of gaming.

The wire was for the buttons/d-pad on the glove itself…yes you can use it as a normal controller.
The sensors are for the movement of the glove itself.

It works by sending out signals, the sensors are to tell where the glove is for steering.

Am i the only one who senses fakery in this video? It looks to me like this video was intentionally sabotaged to make the power glove look shitty. Firstly he didn’t bother to properly position the sensors. They’re taped like six inches back from the edge of the tv. Hell the first two times the sensors weren’t even upright. The he tries to control the game from like 5 inches from the screen and wonders why he can’t get a good response, not to mention he keeps pulling his hand at least a foot and a half ABOVE the sensors. And what is with the piss poor editing of this video? The constant perspective changes every few seconds does not give much believability to this video. The view keeps switching from inches to the screen, then over to the couch that’s at least five feet away from the tv every few seconds. All the while the glove is moving in both shots trying to make us believe he is still trying to control the game in both shots. Ive never seen someone jump all around the room every few seconds while trying to play a game! Not in the span of 3 seconds!

The AVGN videos are scripted. There’s no fakery, because this was never meant to be a completely thruthful review, he focuses on and exaggerate the bad aspects of the stuff he reviews for the sake of entertainment.

My first AVGN episode. It’s been almost a year since I watched this for the first time and it is still hilarious. I think the video would have gone a bit better if you weren’t so close to the TV. That probably affected sensitivity.

@leeratsin if you are referring to the part when he is setting up the power glove about a minute and ten seconds in then its because he isn’t using that NES. In almost all the videos he has he uses one of the other NES systems like the Nin-toaster or such. That is why the LED isn’t on while the game is playing.

it’s amazing how much motion control has…remained horrible actually. the kinect is so glitchy i’d have better luck beating Dr jekyll and mr. hyde with my eyes closed and drunk. the wii is a little bit better, but it’s still a challange to get anything to work while pointing at the screen.
