Deadly Duels at the Pool

Mike Matei / July 19th, 2000

Kung fu movie I made in summer 2000. I shot it on VHS and edited with two VCR’s and a title keyboard. It was filmed all in one single day.

As a sidebar for all future directors: always tie up the dog before shooting begins.

    Oooooooo Miyagi!

Love when the guy in black drops his stick. Ah man I lost my noodles there. When the white fighter gets up from the beating near the end, is that the flight music from Final Fantasy 2?

I’m impressed – those guys had some pretty rad moves!

And wasn’t that Casper in the background there? Nice!

The dog is the best at martial arts… only the best ninjas can just disappear like that.

Another genre done well by the next best director on his way to the top.
