A New Night of Total Terror (1999)

Mike Matei / December 6th, 1999

From the Cinemassacre vault, this is the first movie I shot on film (16mm Black & White reversal). It was done in college, Freshmen year. The assignment was to shoot a roll of film (less than 3 minutes) in one room. I was daring enough to attempt a narrative when everything else was experimental. It’s sort of a 2nd remake of “A Night of Total Terror” (1996), hence the title.

Nice reversal: The monsters chase a human, who becomes a monster and then chases away the monsters (who become human).

Oh here’s an idea for you. This actually comes from one of you “You Know What’s Bullshit” segments, the one on DVD’s. It would be really helpful if in the brief description area you could include the runtime of each of your vids. I know it’s just a little technical detail, but as I watch your movies that’s something I’ve been wanting to see.

Well, onto the next one. I’m doing a chronological marathon of your old stuff to gauge the progression. Pretty fun so far.

this is really awesome. I mean, it’s one of your shortest films, but the imagery compared with the music is really spooky. I like the editing and cinematography. also I think that the fact that it was shot on film really adds to it.
